We’re about to expose you to a big jolt of electrifying insanity, one that’s sure to get your pulse jumping and your head spinning. It’s a hell-for-leather, no-holds-barred song called “I Will Wait For You In My Hell” by the Russian black metal band Wintaar off their new album Tear You Down, which is set for release on November 25th by the triumvirate of Satanath Records, Valgriind, and Svanrenne Music.

Even a quick glance at Wintaar‘s Metal Archives page demonstrates that the project has been incredibly prolific, releasing nearly 30 albums in just the last four years, and that’s not counting the participation of its sole creator WV in many other bands. And now Tear You Down adds to that discography, but also represents a change, in that WV has now been joined by two other permanent members, guitarist Namiros and drummer E.J.C. (who also performs additional bass and backing vocal).

In addition, WIntaar characterizes the new album as one that takes the band’s aggressiveness to the boiling point, and represents its fastest and heaviest work yet, while still presenting significant variations among the songs.

“I Will Wait For You In My Hell” is definitely fast and aggressive. It begins in an immediate frenzy of hammering drums, magma-like bass bubbling, viciously writhing guitars, and insane screams. The meticulously layered guitars create a twisted, dissonant harmony of madness and misery, though all the instrumental pieces that make up this dervish-like mayhem are identifiable, thanks to enhanced clarity and separation in the mix as compared to previous releases.

Eventually, the rhythm switches to a skipping and tumbling beat, and the intricate riffing and leads seem to convey a sense of bizarre but ebullient menace. The vocals continue to scorch the senses, the guitars ripple, quiver, and thrash about with abandon, and the rhythm section continues to feed fast-changing high-octane fuel into this riotous and ruinous escapade.

The three labels will release the album in a limited digipack CD edition. It features artwork by Taya Rostovtseva and layout by Aleksey Satanath. Below you’ll find pre-order options and a stream of the previously released track “Time Devours Night“.

Wintaar  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  has  had  music  reviewed  before  in  this  zine  and  plays  an  atmospheric  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2021  album  "Tear  You  Down"  which  was  released  as  a  joint  effort  between  Satanath  Records,  Valgriind  and  Svanrenne  Music.

A  very  dark  yet  heavy  sound  starts  off  the  album  while  the  solos  and  leads  are  also  done  in  a  very  melodic  style.  Vocals  are  mostly  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  along  with  all  of  the  musical  instruments  also  having  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them  and  when  the  music  speeds  up  a decent  amount  of  blast  beats  can  be  heard.

When  tremolo  picking  is  utilized  they  also  give  the  songs  more  of  a  raw  feeling  while  the  songs  also  add  in  a  decent  mixture  of  slow,  mid  paced  and  fast  parts.  Most  of  the  tracks  are  also  very  long  and  epic  in  length  along  with  some  melodies  also  being  added  into  some  of  the  guitar  riffing,  at  times  the  music  also  gets  very  atmospheric  sounding  and  a  couple  of  songs  also  introduces  clean  playing  onto  the  recording.

On this  recording  Wintaar  plays  a  style  of  black  emtal  that  is  very  atmospheric,  aggressive  and  guitar  driven.  The  production  sounds  very  raw  and  heavy  while  the  lyrics  cover  death  worship  and  personal  themes.

In  my  opinion  this  is  another  great  sounding  recording  from  Wintaar  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  atmospheric  black  metal,  you  should  check  out  this  album.

Речь о майском полноформатном альбоме Wintaar, что получил название «Tear You Down».

Russian band Wintaar are out with the album "Tear You Down", and metal is the grene explored on this production. Extreme metal is the orientation of choice here, and it is a variety of the form that does feature some intriguing dynamics. While the album kicks off with more high energy, high pace and high intensity creations with the drums hammering and blasting away with busy guitars on top, small snippets of more atmospheric laden interludes is a feature here, and as the album moves onward we get more extended passages of these atmospheric tendencies as well as drop down into more groove oriented material and more traditional heavy metal here and there alongside the more high pace and high intensity sequences. The variety and alternating modes of intensity, pace and expression gives this production a higher overall appeal in my personal opinion at least. Those with a taste for dynamic extreme metal where the main emphasis still is on high tempo and high intensity arrangements is an audience that should be quite right and proper for this production I'd suggest.

Our final end-of-2021 release comes courtesy of Wintaar, with their expressive blackened style. Despite how incredibly prolific this act appears to be, this is a high quality release from Wintaar.

Tear You Down boasts many melodic and atmospheric strengths, and the songs are well-played and delivered. The vocals are absolutely savage, and quite feral in places; these are screams that really cut to the bone. The songs combine charismatic atmosphere with frosted aggression and grim melodies; Tear You Down does exactly what this sort of album should do, and it does it well.

This is well-written music that is extremely enjoyable and satisfying. Check this out.

Back yet again and this time we are going to be taking a walk through a dark Russian forest with one of the most ‘tranquil’ releases I’ve heard in a while!

So this is the 2021 release by Satanath Records with 8 new tracks ready to be devoured!

Going into this (as is the norm for most albums) I never know what to expect, you can look at the album cover, read the bios but still have no real idea of what your going to be experiencing until the music hits and what an interesting listen it was.

I think the description that best suits this album for me is ‘atmospheric black metal’ the way it’s presented it’s so dark and eerie but at the same drone like and ambient in it’s appearance, sound and presentation.

Each track flows into the next like a calming river, the conceptuality is on point and the way it runs is something to admire.

The instrumentation on this album is great because it highlights how you can make a Black Metal album sound simultaneously brutal and meditative all at the same time,

It’s really if you think about it what would happen if you decided to grab your favourite ambient artist say Brian Eno and then introduce him to the Black Metal culture and then finish it off with some Drone flavour and this is what you would get at the end result, it’s the perfect album for keeping your mind busy without having to think too much on the presentation or substance of the record.

The essence that drives this album is ‘ambience’ and I love how they were able to formulate a way to not take away the brutal, growling vocal screams commonly associated with Black Metal and just mix it in with a genre that is normally the complete opposite of that sound! But yet make it work at the same time which is mind blowing to me.

So, in a nutshell. If your looking for a record to drive home too, walk your dog, do the dishes, relax, cook or clean then I feel this is the kind of head banger meditation that metalheads far and wide would love to use to ease their day with, I’m sure fans of other styles of music would find a lot to love about it as well!

Trust me, it’s truly a unique experience but one definitely worth sharing and trying! Great work guys!

Today’s review is of Russian Black Metal band Wintaar’s new album “Tear You Down”.

This release is a clear example of the Russian Black Metal scene, delivering a similarly harsh and rather atmospheric soundscape as bands such as Grima or Second To Sun, while also leaving some space for melody (though in certain tracks this element seems rather superficial and badly implemented). With these long tracks, the listener may be enshrouded by a mist of desolation, but sometimes monotony and predictability gnaw at this aura, leaving instead generic parts to damage the quality of other riffs of furious and high pitched devastation.

This album does not stand out, but it is certainly not bad. If you want some bleak Black Metal performed in a frostbitten way you may want to check this one out. My personal highlights are “Time Devours Light” and “Buried In My Own Sorrow”.

I recommend this album to fans of Atmospheric Black Metal and Russian Black Metal.
