Ce qu’il y a de phénoménal chez Satanath Records, c’est qu’ils ont souvent le nez creux pour nous dégotter de bons petits groupes de metal extrême qui reviennent aux racines du genre. Et pour les nostalgiques qui aiment le tabassage musical, c’est du pain béni. Là, avec ce premier full length des Chiliens de Demonized Priest après un EP “Sadistic torture” sorti en 2018 – soit un an après la formation du groupe –, on va parler d’un speed / black metal aux forts relents punk et rock ‘n’ roll.
On ne va pas chercher midi à quatorze heures : la musique de Demonized Priest n’est pas excessivement surprenante pour qui est un habitué du genre. En même temps, en lui-même, il n’est pas vraiment facteur de nouveautés : ici, on reste ancré dans les mid-eighties et des formations comme Midnight, Bewitcher, Cruel Force ou même Aura Noir ont déjà bien exploité le filon. Mais il faut reconnaitre à Demonized Priest un talent de composition suffisant pour se montrer crédible en tant qu’outsider : ce mélange subtil entre tous les genres cités plus haut passe vraiment très bien.
Sur un registre principalement rapide, les riffs envoient du bois, la basse est omniprésente et claque méchamment, le chant est principalement black et le hurleur en chef se permet même des cris aigus qui ont fait la renommée d’un certain Schmier dans les premiers albums de Destruction.
Alors oui, ça speede, ça se permet même du riff Motörheadien (“Witch’s unholy creation”) ou de franchir allégrement les frontières du thrash metal (“… Of blood and chaos”, “Horns above the sky”), ça se la joue plus mid tempo (“Collector of corpses and souls”) et lorsque le groupe officie dans un tempo plus lent, l’ombre de Darkthrone n’est pas très loin (“Serpent’s rites”), le tout au service d’un album beaucoup plus riche qu’il n’y parait !
“Necromantic Rituals” est un excellent album pour qui aime ce genre de speed / black metal qui ne se contente pas que de nous reciter à l’envi des gammes usées jusqu’à la moelle : Demonized Priest nous prouve qu’on peut encore faire du neuf avec du vieux et les six Chiliens semblent l’avoir parfaitement compris !
En clair : hautement conseillé pour les afficionados du genre !

Chilean band Demonized Priest is out with their album "Necromantic Rituals", and to my ears this should be quite the interesting album for fans of thrash metal and speed metal first and foremost. Mainly alternating between staccato uptempo riff section and slightly slower groove-oriented riff and rhythm combinations, the band create a nice amalgam of these rather closely related styles of music here. The raspy, hoarse spoken like vocals adds a slight touch of extreme metal to the proceedings, but there's also room for some classic John Cyriis tinged high pitched wails in these songs. As long as the vocal style is accepted, I suspect many with a taste for mid 80's speed metal and thrash metal will find this to be a rather interesting album experience.

Saludos a todos los metalheads que nos leen en varias partes del mundo, bienvenidos a una edición más de Broken Tomb. No podemos dejar pasar en vano innumerables recientes materiales discográficos y que en un futuro nos espera más.
El día de hoy presentamos a la banda Demonized Priest, banda sudamericana que presenta su primer álbum de estudio titulado «Necromantic Rituals», conoceremos un poco de esta nueva banda y de su reciente material, así que iniciamos.
Demonized Priest es una banda de Black/Speed Metal originarios de San Antonio, Valparaíso en Chile. Esta banda se forma en 2017 y actualmente está conformada artísticamente por Baal, the Unhuman (vocalista), The Illegal Demon (guitarrista), Sebastian Aviles (baterista), Krayt (bajista), Okkultus (guitarrista) y L. Anativia (guitarrista).
«El Sacerdote Demonizado» debuta independiente en el 2018 con su EP «Sadistic Torture», el 22 de abril del presente año bajo el apoyo discográfico Satanath Records dan fruto a su primer LP titulado «Necromantic Rituals» bajo formatos CD y digital con límite de 500 copias.
Un álbum lleno de ira y de odio a la religión, donde podrás disfrutar de 34 minutos con un setlist traído directamente desde las profundidades de las cavernas
Come on motherfuckers! el abridor ‘Within the Pentagram‘ es sin lugar a dudas una de sus mejores pistas y si eres nuevo en este tipo de cosas, probablemente te destruirá. Esta canción te prepara perfectamente para lo que puedes esperar del resto del álbum, velocidades tormentosas que apenas se igualan y con algunas voces absolutamente locas, un sello que dice «Baal, the Unhuman»; sus voces creativas que cambian de un lado a otro con sus agudos prolongados se superponen entre sí y controla por completo este rango vocal.
Vamos con el segundo tema «Coleccionista de cadáveres y almas», es un tema vil, crudo y obligatorio, son de esos temas exitosos de ritmo medio y directo a la vez cuentan con esos riffs agradables que llevan el concepto de atonalidad al extremo.
Vamos con el tema ‘…Of Blood of Chaos‘, es un track que da al disco una fuerte sensación de caos y aniquilación, tiene ese inicio de grito de introducción a los 12 segundos que define al metal, que nos recuerda al ícono Kim Bendix Petersen (King Diamond), todo se vuelve 10 veces más pesado cuando Baahl desata ese loco grito, esta es de esas canciones que no tiene una plétora de ritmos explosivos, y realmente muestra la estabilidad en percusión, «… De Sangre y Caos» es un tema de cualidades sincronizadas y de agradables variaciones en el riffing.
Vamos con el tema ‘Witch’s Unholy Creation‘, es de las canciones más malvadas y poseídas de todo el álbum, pues bien hay algunos riffs de ritmo medio que poseen una fuerte sensación de fatalidad, aunque no siempre a velocidades vertiginosas; El sonido general está muy en línea y en reiteración la voz de Baahl ayuda a que la atmósfera del LP mantenga un nivel constante de oscuridad y de nivel demencial.
Vamos el sexto tema ‘Serpent’s Rites‘, otra canción con una especie de introducción e interludios que realmente muestra la capacidad de las banda para trabajar juntos para lograr algo que no sea solo explosiones y picos trepidantes. Gran trabajo en la batería a lo que hemos recorrido del LP. Un tema black puro que termina destrozando completamente tus oídos de una manera que solo esta banda puede hacer, incorporando riffs fríos con una composición muy interesante, pues «Los Ritos de la Serpiente» también llega a todo volumen, no hay pérdida de tiempo en Demonized Priest aquí.
‘The Altar‘ es el sexto tema, la voz de Baahl encaja perfectamente, sus gritos dominan totalmente el cotarro, un tema que golpeando desde el principio y rompiendo en un galope de ritmo medio, consigue hacer que el estribillo sea contagioso.
Vamos con el ‘Sexto Infierno (Invocación)‘, es un tema instrumental, una canción que es perfecta, muy agresiva y oscura donde funciona excepcionalmente bien con un increíble trabajo de guitarras, bajo y batería. Puede que el tema no sea para cualquiera pero llega al punto de poseer una atmósfera extrema que impregna este álbum, los demonios te invaden y atacarán a tus tímpanos hasta que termine el Elepé.
El cierre del LP lo trae ‘Horns Above the Sky‘ la música suena tan verdadera y horriblemente malvada como aquí, digno de su arte y, al hacerlo los intensifica casi a la perfección. Lo más destacado es el trabajo vocal del Baahl. Devastadoramente malvado, y absolutamente en su altar, hay gruñidos, chillidos y entregas sonando loco y poseído. La percusión es excelente por parte de Sebastián Aviles. Los riffs son contagiosos, complejos y espeluznantes, y complementan a la perfección la imagen del álbum así que el trabajo de guitarras en este cierre es asombroso al igual Krayt da forma a la vibra del grupo con líneas ásperas y abrasadoras se concentra en la dinámica del LP. Por consiguiente, esta combinación de talentos da como resultado las mejores actuaciones de sus inicios en términos de pura creatividad.
En conclusión, es una escucha imprescindible para los fans del speed y el black metal tradicional que sigan a combos como Deströyer 666, Bewitcher, King Diamond, Whipstriker, Speedwolf, Witchnight, Hellhammer, Bonehunter, Midnight, Chapel, Cruel Force o Aura Noir, donde consigue de inmediato convertirse en una buena perspectiva histórica para los fans del Black Metal. Se lo recomiendo a todos los fanáticos de los géneros mencionados anteriormente, e invito a otros en poder a darle un giro a este nuevo material ya que la calidad en Sudamérica sigue latente.

Some Black Speed Metal from San Antonio, Valparaíso and this being the bands first full length and was surprised it was released on a Russian label so I had to give this a listen.
Nice opening with some satanic words and then Within the Pentagram comes in and you know what this band is going to pound into your brain and it gets good as the vocals are right there in your face with some powerful yells from hell and the music simply crushes some killer leads that made this an excellent opener, as Collector of Corpses and Souls comes in you can basically get the feeling on what kind of lyrical content is coming off here and it really stands out here, the track is pretty brutal as it goes, heavy shit for the taken.
…of Blood and Chaos, I’m digging these yells as they are being offered here and this is a satanic delight as the hate bleeds out on here, very crunchy riffage rages on here as well, total chaos for the wicked as we go into Witch’s Unholy Creations, and the sickness continues as this is keeps the vibe of the album going on its way to hell, an excellent drive with a tasty lead that rips you.
Serpent’s Rites, holy shit! now here we take it a step beyond, the opening is amazing and then it has this dark grabbing feel to it, pure evil is the only way to describe it and some spoken part put in adds to the ritual and gets heavy as fuck in closing this piece, The Altar and hell here is another headbasher for you, more of what has been offered and all in a good cause.
To this killer instrumental Sexto infierno (Invocación), this grabbed me on the first take and it really got interesting as they through in this demonic talking in the end, real good shit! as it goes straight into Horns Above the Sky and is an amazing track to close this out, as it has a drive to take you down the path and even with a break this has that punch the band has delivered on this whole thing.
In closing I highly recommend this if blasphemy and speed is your thing, the vocals of Baal, the Unhuman took this to another level, he comes in crystal clear on here, great job!

Allons à la découverte de DEMONIZED PRIEST, un groupe chilien qui sort son premier album intitulé « Necromantic Rituals » dans un registre Speed Black Metal influencé par BEWITCHED.
Concernant le terme black, on le retrouvera saupoudré dans l’ambiance agrémentée d’une inspiration heavy black sans agressivité tout comme le chant black interprété avec quelques vocalises haut perchées façon KING DIAMOND.
L’imagerie de l’album fausse un peu l’idée que l’on peut se faire sur la musique, qui est variée et meilleure qu’à ce que l’on pourrait s’attendre. Pour les paroles, je ne sais pas si elles collent plus à l’artwork !!!
On débute sur les chapeaux de roue avec le titre « Within The Pentagram » tout comme le solo dans la même lignée, le tout avec une petite pointe de pagan lors du passage en baisse de régime.
« Witch’s Unholy Creations » au solo pouvant nous rappeler IRON MAIDEN et « The Altar » plus brut au break heavy, seront bien vigoureux.
« Serpent’s Rites » présente l’ambiance sombre d’un heavy black aux tempos modérés garni d’un passage atmosphérique avec narration suivi d’un passage plus death pouvant rappeler les débuts d’AMON AMARTH.
Moins enragé « Collector Of Corpses And Souls » mais plus heavy, propose un gros riff qui donne envie de headbanger et à mon avis, cela doit être une tuerie en live. Le rythme est plus soutenu sur « … Of Blood and Chaos » aux notes plus thrash et sur l’excellent instrumental « Sexto Infierno (Invocación) » avec un long passage angoissant sur une narration en souffrance qui s enchaînera avec le tonique « Horns Above The Sky ».
Cet opus, musicalement varié, se laisse écouter facilement et plaira aux fans de groupes comme BEWITCHED, RITUAL CARNAGE et bien d’autres qui évoluent dans le même registre.

La semana pasada Demonized Priest de San Antonio vio la salida de su más reciente álbum, «Necromantic Rituals» , disponible en CD y en digital, y en el marco de este lanzamiento cuentan más acerca del proceso de composición de sus canciones.
Con un álbum que estuvo grabado en Julio del 2019 y finalizado a inicios del 2020, las composiciones se remontan a un año antes, con la salida durante el 2018 del EP, «Sadistic Torture» , cuyo material dio paso para mantener la mente creativa andando y que culmina con las ocho canciones que casi tres años después ya podemos escuchar. Sin embargo, aun cuando la creación del reciente material se diera a partir de esas circunstancias eso no quiere decir que haya sido una mera continuación de EP, hubo un cambio en todos los aspectos.
Baal, The Unhuman, vocalista de Demonized Priest, quien se refirió a este aspecto muy por encima semanas atrás, cuenta en detalle cómo fue este proceso de cambio. Qué agregaron, con qué jugaron, cómo operaron y la fluidez con la que se consolidó todo, cuenta a continuación
En general queríamos cambiar algunas cosas, como por ejemplo la duración de las canciones, los riffs, el estilo, le agregamos un poco de Thrash, más ‘Black Metal’, en general hacer un disco variado en todo sentido. Somos de las personas que gustan de jugar con las temáticas y hacer trabajos conceptuales, entonces se nos ocurre la temática de rituales, brujerías y esas cosas y así es como nace el nombre del disco, «Necromantic Rituals» , lo demás fue solo ir leyendo historias, noticias, ritos y cosas por el estilo.
Creo que cuando llega la inspiración hay que aprovecharla de la mejor forma posible, así, las cosas toman el rumbo correcto, entonces se hace mucho mas fluido el componer. A medida que las maquetas se iban armando, las íbamos mandando a Sebastián, el baterista y el fue quien puso toda la magia, las letras salían prácticamente en el momento, pero los solos fueron mucho más trabajados y estudiados. No quisimos hacer riffs demasiado complicados o ‘rimbombantess’, pero si con peso y directos, partes que se quedaran en el odio de quien nos escuchara, fue una muy buena evolución desde el EP.
El sello hasta nos comparó con una mezcla entre Destroyer 666 y King Diamond [Risas].
«Necromantic Rituals» fue grabado originalmente en Julio del 2019 en el Homestudio de su vocalista Baal, The Unhuman y las baterías en la sala de música del colegio Providencia, y mezclado por el mismo integrante y el guitarrista del conjunto, The Illegal Demon, todo en San Antonio; Su portada fue realizada por Sebastián Sanchez de Thrash Tattoo y saldrá a las calles en formato CD y en las plataforma de música digital bajo el alero del sello Satanath Records de Rusia, en un con lanzamiento con los sellos Sanatorio Records de Costa Rica y Vrykoblast Productions de Singapur.

Interessante verificar como hoje em dia grande parte do thrash com tiques mais tradicionais nos surge da mistura com o black metal. É logo o carimbo que os Demonized Priest levam ao primeiro álbum, este “Necromantic Rituals” sobretudo pela abordagem vocal de Baal, the Unhuman, que entre o registo death/black, solta uns agudos que fariam os jovens Tom Araya e Schmier ficar orgulhosos. Mas não é só isso, é também a atitude metal tradicional, os solos inspirados e as dinâmicas que transcendem a fórmula habitual do black metal. O Chile tem apresentado cada vez melhores bandas e esta é uma para se juntar ao lote com esperanças de se destacar. Recomendado.
Demonized Priest are a band from Chile that plays a mixture of black, thrash and speed metal and this is a review of their 2021 album "Necromantic Rituals" which will be released as a joint effort between Satanath, Sanatorio Records and Vrykoblast Productions.
Ritualistic samples start off the album before going into a heavier musical direction while all of the musical instruments also have a very powerful sound to them. Power metal style vocals can also be heard briefly along with the music also bringing in a good amount of thrash and speed metal elements.
Black metal screams are also a very huge part of the recording while the music is also heavily rooted in the 80's era but modern at the same time. When guitar solos and leads are utilized they also remain true to an old school style along with the songs also adding in a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, as well as one track also bringing in a brief use of clean playing. As the album progresses a brief use of spoken word parts and death metal growls can also be heard.
Demonized Priest plays a musical style that takes black, thrash and speed metal and mixes them together to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Occultism, Witchcraft and Darkness themes.
In my opinion Demonized Priest are a very great sounding mixture of black, thrash and speed metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band.

Nic nového nečekat, a kdo tak ještě neučinil, nechť si doplní rozhled studiem klasických alb, naladí se na frekvenci 80 a vzhůru do podzemí. Ohně hoří, rohatí křepčí kolem kotlů s hříšnými dušemi a horlivě pod ně přikládají, aby teplota nepoklesla. Takhle si představuji old school black metal!!! Ještě generaci před severským běsem, kdy se společně s VENOM, CELTIC FROST, BULLDOZER a rannými BATHORY, případně výrazem SLAYER v časech „Show No Mercy“ rozhořel pekelný plamen. Nejsem si zcela jist, zdali Chilané DEMONIZED PRIEST prvotní black metal zachytily byť jako posluchači v pozdním dětském věku (můj případ), nicméně do jeho atmosféry položili natolik, že jej ani náhodu neparodují. Ba co víc, jejich heavy-black míří vstříc vlastnímu černému rituálu, působí velmi solidně a uvěřitelně bez přehnaných citací kultovních smeček
Pekelná jízda, odstartovaná „Within The Pentagram“ sice upomíná zmetky pekelné VENOM, ale pouze decentně, ani na okamžik mě nezarazila přehnaná citace nejen v úvodní pecce, ani nikde jinde. DEMONIZED PRIEST jsou dostatečně osobití, že není třeba si pomáhat u kolegů, byť by mi to do jisté únosné míry ani nevadilo. „Collector Of Corpses And Souls“, postavenou na skvělém heavy riffu, pasuji spolu s následující „...Of Blood And Chaos“ na mé dva soukromé vrcholy alba, přičemž zbytek ani v nejmenším nezaostává, pouze tyhle dvě šlehy nejvýrazněji čerpají z klasického heavy metalu a mám k nim jaksi nejblíže. „Necromantic Rituals“ navíc nejede na jednom, dvou vzorcích, „Serpent´s Rites“ se heavy a speed / thrash rovině zdatně vymyká a více se atmosférou blíží k novodobějšímu pojetí black metalu, který ovšem v pojetí DEMONIZED PRIEST dostává odlišný rozměr. „Witch's Unholy Creation“ a „The Altar“ to je v podstatě zdrsnělý a zčernalý rock´n´roll“ a typická ukázka black metalu z první poloviny osmé dekády. Síla a energie, která z obou skladeb doslova cáká, jsou slastným drbáním rohatého za ouškem, obsahují vše, co syrový tradiční black metal potřebuje, plus otisk vlastního osobitého rukopisu DEMONIZED PRIEST. Temná a působivá instrumentálka „Sexto Infierno (Invocación)“ je vhodně zařazená před závěrečný sekec mazec „Horns Above the Sky“, závěr je to neskutečný, strhující atmosféra a energie…
Retro styl DEMONIZED PRIEST navzdory nepochybnému archaismu má neskutečnou energii a temnou auru, takže stáří formy není podstatné rozebírat. „Black´N´Heavy se očekává jako samozřejmá věc, dále se rozpoutá takový fičák, že mám úpornou snahu otočit skříň naruby s cílem vyhrabat své artefakty z dob před třiceti lety a rovněž i třiceti kily. Pranic nezáleží na tom, že se do svých tehdejších metalových hadříků nemám šanci vejít. Můžu si to minimálně představovat, jak se vracím na konec osmdesátek při plném vědomí, že ač milý a velepříjemný, to je každopádně blud a iluze. DEMONIZED PRIEST však tu sílu mají – vrátit posluchače zpět v čase a vsadit jej do autenticity dobové atmosféry. „Necromantic Rituals“ působí na nepřipraveného posluchače jako relikt z pravěku, ale do zkamenělých pozůstatků mají daleko asi tak, jako kolchozník k dolarovému kontu. Současné zvukové možnosti nejsou DEMONIZED PRIEST vůbec cizí a využívají je maximálně ku svému prospěchu. Díky v rámci možností a s respektem k charakteru kapely modernímu zvuku mají DEMONIZED PRIEST strhující náboj. Temná atmosféra, věrně vystihující podstatu starého black metalu, dotahuje dílo zkázy do drtivého konce. Právě kombinace syrového heavy metalu s příměsí špinavého rock´n´rollu a moderním zvukem je hlavním důvodem, proč DEMONIZED PRIEST zní jako polití živou vodou, pardon…jako posedlí démonem.
