For to år siden anmeldte jeg debutskiven ”March To Victory” fra Satanic Assault Division (SAD); en solid omgang Black Metal med vægt på tempo og power. Nu er fynboerne klar med deres andet album, hvor numre som ”Destroying the Temple of God” og ”Satanic Purification” viser, at de ikke har glemt hvordan man giver den gas. Og samtidig præsterer Thomas Haxen igen en vokal, som er ondskabsfuldt rallende på den virkelig overbevisende måde. Hvis ikke der var mere at fortælle om ”Kill the Cross”, kunne jeg runde af og konstatere, at SAD har leveret varen, men ikke flyttet sig.
Men der er mere at fortælle.
SAD har nemlig udvidet deres fortolkning af Black Metal, så der ved siden af de traditionelle blastbeats i fuld fart også er blevet plads til sej groove og vekslende tempi igennem numrene. Det giver en større bredde, og gør albummet mere spændende, så jeg må sige, at bandet har brugt de sidste to år fornuftigt. Selv om numrene generelt er fede, er en lille times spilletid lige i overkanten; det havde givet en mere intens oplevelse, hvis man havde beskåret tracklisten en smule. Derfor rækker det i denne omgang ikke helt til fem stjerner, men hvis SAD fortsætter udviklingen, kommer det – albummet efterlader mig med en stærk fornemmelse af, at bandet har mere at byde på.
Catchy black metal is very much the order of the night here, and what a killer record Danish combo Satanic Assault Division has puked up. Kill The Cross comes two years after the band’s 2013 debut March To Victory and it’s an opus which should please anyone who likes their black metal evil, gnarly and above all accessible.
Considering these guys have only been in existence for three years I’ve been extremely impressed by their releases, and Kill The Cross is the sort of opus that should get tongues wagging and heads turning – as well as banging – within the extreme metal field.
What I love about this record is the thick sound; the riffs are weighty and nasty and complement the hideous vocal burps and yaps of coven leader Thomas Haxen. This isn’t bog standard infectious black metal however; you only have to slap on the title track to appreciate the punky as well as black ’n’ roll quality this bunch has to offer.
The riffs are so meaty that their talons dig in so deep immediately that you’ll find no escape from this stuffy mini-masterpiece. Somehow, Satanic Assault Division successfully fuses an almost traditional metal sludge hinting at old Hellhammer and the likes, with that early 90s Scandinavian blackness. The band lurches into faster, more despicable passages where the vocals are black metal rasps in the truest form, but when the band slows to a brooding, thunderous pace, the voice becomes harsher and deeper, and yet there’s just so much going on here that I would never have placed the band’s origins in Denmark, and that’s no disrespect to that country.
Satanic Assault Division sounds like such a well-oiled machine that any suggestion of the guys being new to the scene would be absurd as they crash through such hideous anthems as the hurtling ‘Defiled By Abalam’ with its hectic drum rushes and hasty guitar seething, while ‘Pleasures Of The Flesh’ and the superb ‘Rays Of Poison’ toy with those gloomier, sombre slower parts while again injecting pace where necessary. ‘Atomic Holocaust’, ‘Evangelical Epidemic’ and ‘Religious Cunts’ are all viciously wicked and blasphemous and remain separated from the mediocre by way of steering from the expected black metal nuances, and instead punctuating those vile clouds of evil with doomier trudges.
In a sense, the vocals are at times reminiscent of Deicide at their most muffled and ungodly when dealing with the deathlier antics, but when the combo speeds up we are truly nailed by some high quality black metal cacophony and yet always dense within its riffage, bass and percussion.
At times there are hints of Impaled Nazarene, but because Satanic Assault Division rarely sticks to one path there’s no real feeling of predictability; the band more than happy to one moment scrape the ears with a deadly dose of seething black metal speed, but the next dragging you into its infernal depths with a more traditional trudge of blackness.
I first wanted to introduce this band as a side-project of Dreadlord, but actually they are both so differing from each other, so that I will not do so. Besides, Satanic Assault Division are quite active, in contradiction to Dreadlord lately, which would be denigrating for Satanic Assault Division. Anyway, these Danish guys return with their second album, a year and a half after March To Victory. It was recorded with studio assistance of no one else but Marduk’s Magnus ‘Devo’ Andersson, who took care of mix, mastering and drum engineering at the famous Endarker Studio. And he provided a guest solo too (in the track Beast). And seen the artwork (a pig-priest baptising a new-born in blood with a statue of someone I do recognize in one way or another, weeping tears of blood). Ahum…
Indeed, Kill The Cross breathes blasphemy and criticises the hypocrisy and naivety of the (catholic) church. But it must been taken with quite an important sense of irony and sarcasm. The tracks clock almost an hour and they stand for tradition with quite an evident Swedish basic approach. The leads (sometimes twin leads) and main melodies, the pounding rhythm section, as well as the overall structures of the tracks are clearly inspired / influenced by the nineties-scene from Sweden, and then I am thinking about everything in between Marduk, Dark Funeral, Thy Primordial, Setherial, Sorhin, Naglfar and the likes. But it has quite some own aspects too, and cannot be compared as just another Marduk-clone.
There is quite a Black’n’Roll vibe present throughout several passages, focusing on accessibility and tradition, I guess (check out the title track, for example, with those punky riffs). Speed Heavy Thrash Punk ‘n’ Roll baby! Besides, Devo did turn this album’s sound into a fat, voluptuous and decadent aural feast. Personally I think the result might have been little rougher, but the decent mix makes every contributor standing in the spotlights (blacklights indeed). Especially the contradiction in between the grotesque production at the one hand, and the old styled execution (the Scandinavian Second Wave trend in general; there are quite some hints from Impaled Nazarene, Immortal or Satanic Warmaster too, besides those Swedish combos I mentioned in the former paragraph), leaves undersigned little confused. But that’s not an insoluble, insuperable problem. No, because the slower songs (or excerpts) are blessed by that additional flair of heaviness. Pleasures Of The Flesh is a great example (and hey, listen to those Hellhammer-infused riffing at the background; but that aside…).
Cool is the variation in atmosphere. While many (faster) pieces are blaspheme and evil, some others are more gloomy and occult; then again it is based on having fun, or just the contrary, i.e. being angry and malicious; and from time it’s even creepy and suffocative (like the technically high-standard piece Proselytized). And last but not least, I need to mention the last track, Once A Whore, which is a cover of legendary act The Murder Junkies (you know, one of the best known outfits with GG Allin). It stands miles away from the ‘roots’ of Satanic Assault Division, but it shows this band’s adoration for Punk-laden weirdness.

L'inizio piace per due punti:
sono sberloni a gogò;
tecnicamente i ragazzi sono forti.
In generale però il lavoro lascia perplessi perché:
il Thrash Metal suonato attinge a piene mani agli stilemi del genere; è infine — appunto — solo Thrash;
il lato Black si limita all'immagine, ai testi e a intarsi per il gusto e l'orecchio;
il Black non è stato concepito per pogare.
"Kill The Cross" è un bel titolo — anche se abusato — che varrebbe la pena confermare con azioni musicali davvero oscure. Certamente ci sono i passaggi di tono come "Beast" oppure "Atomic Assault" che sono soffi di Black svedese conditi da parti — come già accennato — adatte al pogo o a scuotere il capo. Le canzoni prese singolarmente possono piacere in base ai gusti personali, ma il disco mostra nell'insieme poca coerenza, compattezza e non sa in che direzione andare. Tutto questo è forse il risultato della volontà di accontentare un po' tutti.
I lettori assidui lo sapranno, Ul Fieschi non è un mostro ammazza-dischi, ma — come detto sopra — se la tecnica impiegata è valida, questa può bastare qui solo a soddisfare le pretese dell'ascoltatore non avvezzo al Black-Thrash, nulla più. Il prodotto sarebbe stato più compatto se i Satanic Assault Division gli avessero iniettato maggiore personalità compositiva, magari eliminando qualche canzone per ridurne la durata. Anche se non è brutto, "Kill The Cross" dà un'impressione generale di déjà vu noioso e svogliato.
Deense blackmetal, het komt niet elke dag voorbij en ik moet al even denken aan een Deense band van dit genre die me de laatste jaren nog uit mijn sokken wist te blazen. Maar het genre leeft zeker op de brug tussen Scandinavië en Duitsland, hoe kan het ook anders, dat wisten bands als Angantyr, Denial of God en Horned Almighty in het verleden wel te bewijzen. De bassist van die laatste band zingt in deze band Satanic Assault Division en hij heeft wel wat andere stevige muzikanten in zijn gelederen.
Kill The Cross is dan ook een plaat die getuigt van een band die stevig in haar schoenen staat. Technisch en melodisch heeft dit wat weg van oude Marduk en Impaled Nazarene, maar toch geven deze Denen er een eigen draai aan. Je voelt immers dat deze heren niet enkel liefhebbers zijn van oldschool blackmetal, maar ook antieke punk en thrash genegen zijn. De melodische partijen, soms wat Fins op zijn Satanic Warmasters, worden afgewisseld door fases met een punky vibe, maar met erg smerige blackmetal gepresenteerd. Veel heeft uiteraard te maken met deze zanger die wat tussen de vuile gorgelstukken van een Duitse Isegrim en de krakende haat van een Finse Satanic Warmaster zit, maar ook een prima keelgeluid heeft, met heel wat geslaagd ‘oomphs’ (niet evident!), als er wat meer punk in kruipt.
Het valt allemaal wel te plaatsen wat je hoort bij deze Denen, dus volledig nieuw en ongedaan klinkt het niet, maar het is gewoon erg goed en stevig gebracht. Vooral als de drummer even zijn vaardigheden laat horen, met drumstukjes die behoorlijk fris en divers klinken, en wanneer er een knaller van een solomoment doorheen komt, weet je dat je hier met sterke muzikanten zit. Goed voor een plaatsje bij het betere zwarte werk uit Denemarken dus!
Danish black metal, it is not every day passes and I think just as a Danish band of this genre me to blow my socks off in recent years even knew. But the genre certainly lives on the bridge between Scandinavia and Germany, how could it be otherwise, they knew bands like Angantyr, Denial of God and Horned Almighty to prove it in the past. The bassist of the latter band sings in this band Satanic Assault Division and he has some other strong musicians in its ranks.
Kill The Cross is therefore a record that reveals a band that stands firm in her shoes. Technical and melodic, this has some similarities with old Marduk and Impaled Nazarene, but still give these Danes are their own twist. After all, you feel that these guys are not just lovers of old school black metal, but also antique punk and thrash his affections. The melodic parts, sometimes Finnish on his Satanic Warmasters, alternate with phases with a punky vibe, but presented with very filthy black metal. Many, of course, has to do with the singer in between the dirty gorgelstukken a German Isegrim and creaky hatred of a Finnish Satanic Warmaster is, but also has a good throat sound, with a lot of success "oomphs (not easy!), As some more punk creeps in.
Placing all falls or what you hear at these Danes, so completely new and undo it sounds, but it's just been very good and hearty. Especially if the drummer even shows his skills with drum pieces that sound very fresh and diverse, and when there is a stunner of a solo moment comes through, you know you're sitting here with strong musicians. Good for a place among the better in black work from Denmark so!

With their first demo being titled Erase Religion, you get the idea that the Danish cult of SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION has a mission in mind when they attack the ears of the unwashed masses with their chaotic brand of punishing Black/Thrash Metal mayhem. Following up on the nun-raping brutality of their debut opus, March to Victory, Kill the Cross continues to rage against the Golden Gates of Heaven with such crushing assaults as “Destroying the Temple of God”, “Satanic Purification” and “Religious Cunts” - and you though ISIS was frightening! In the crowded genre of Satanic Black/Thrash Metal SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION manage to create a sound that is both fresh and original and yet strangely familiar to fans of the old metal gods. Blast this one out of your car stereo next Sunday morning while driving past your local church on the way to score that packet of meth.
Das Black Metal Kommando aus Dänemark hat ihr zweites Album parat und sofort mit dem Opener „Destroying the Temple of God“ wird klassischer old school Black Metal in brutal rasender Manier versprüht, doch sie schaffen es auch, mit drückenden Mid Tempo Parts und einem Hauch an Thrash das Ganze interessant zu gestalten, aber besonders das kurze Solo am Ende des Songs mit der wütenden Ballerei geht mir gut rein. Auch mit dem „Beast“ wird nicht zimperlich agiert, im Gegenteil, das geht ab wie bei Endstille oder auch der Panzerdivision Marduk, um einen guten Vergleich zu haben und gleich beim folgenden „Defiled by Abalam“ ist es nicht nur extrem schnell, es rast wie der Teufel. Bei Titelstück ist eher von Groove Black Metal die Rede, während der „Atomic Holocaust“ erneut eine wahre Knüppel Orgie ist, die im Tempo geschickt variiert und auch einen Hauch an düsterer Atmosphäre aufkommen lässt. „Pleasures of the Flesh“ zeigt dann die kriechende und bedrohliche Seite der Dänen, auch wenn ab und an mal ein kurzes Baller Intermezzo hinzu kommt und auch „Bar Kokhba“ rollt drückend im Mid Tempo mit einem Hauch an Groove. Bei „Evangelical Epidemic“ war ich erst der Meinung, dass diese Zähheit bestehen bleibt, so wie das Stück beginnt, doch kaum gedacht, ledern die Dänen wieder volle Lotte los, um dann wieder mächtig abzubremsen. Doch eine krachende Blast Attacke folgt mit „Satanic Purification“, ein Track, der für diese Verhältnisse verdammt gut mit Breaks und Tempowechsleln durchzogen ist. „Religious Cunts“ kriecht bedrohend auf den Hörer zu, mit etwas mewhr Tempo wird sich dann aufgebaut, um mit Raserei dann zuzuschlagen. Nachdem der Angriff vorbei ist, geht es auch gleich wieder in die selbe Lauerstellung. Mit schleppendem Beginn macht sich „Proselytized“ auch dazu auf, im Mittelpart eine Baller Salve nach der anderen abzugeben, um dann erneut wieder in mittlere Tempo Gefilde zu wechseln, während Geprügel und mittlerer Speed sich bei „Deus Vult“ die Waage halten. Der Anfang von „Rays of Poison“ lässt mit akustischer Untermalung wiegt einem in Sicherheit, doch das Stück schaukelt sich von Sekunde zu Sekunde weiter auf, bis es in Blastbeats mündet und am Ende ist mit „Once a Whore“ ein The Murder Junkies Cover am Start, wobei es sich hier im Original um einen Punk Song handlet.
Per la serie “guardi la copertina, leggi il titolo, sorridi e butti su nel lettore con cattiveria”. Questi danesi sono allo stesso tempo divertenti e bravi. Quattordici brani che mettono nero su bianco (e scusate il gioco di parole) quattordici tracce tirate come una tagliola pronta a scattare per prendervi tra le sue rugginose fauci. Il fatto che i nostri si siano sbattuti in una moltitudine di palchi si sente eccome, con il risultato che l’incisione risulta genuina e potente. Pur parlando di black vecchio stile, quello che mi colpisce positivamente è l’attitudine spaccasassi stile Marduk più furenti e una decisa vena thrash che colloca la release una spanna sopra la precedente opera. Non aspettatevi dunque strutture canzoni troppo impegnate o lunghe. Qui si gioca sull’immediatezza e sull’immagine da cattivoni mangia croci. Una combinazione che funziona, diretta e bella cattiva come un pugno nel costato. Un solo consiglio: godeteveli.

Satanic Assault Division are from Denmark and this is their second album. They play Black Metal.
I’m guessing that the name alone is enough to let you know what kind of music this is. Yes, here we have Traditional Black Metal with lots of bite and plenty of violence. What might surprise you, however, is just how damn catchy and memorable this record is.
The songs are full of decent and substantial riffs. The guitars are dark and sharp, exactly as this kind of Black Metal should be. The band demonstrate very early on that they have good songwriting skills and these tracks make an impression.
Blasting drums provide plenty of speed and groovy, mid-paced riffs lend the music an extra energy, with the band firing on all cylinders. There’s even the odd guitar solo; these are usually understated and brief but provide extra interest when they appear. The solos, alongside some of the more Rocking guitars, lend this a Black ‘n’ Roll feeling in places, although this is but part of their sound.
The singer’s voice is full of bile and hatred, croaking out from the Blackened tunes as if in a murderous trance.
This is a band who have produced a Black Metal album with an emphasis on catchy music and the kind of songs that it’s easy to like.

Black Metal prides itself on being the most anti-religious form of music in the metal canon, but there is always going to be that niche of bands who take all the assumptions and ridiculous topics of the censors who try to shut it down, and play on them to come across as both evil and a heck of a thrill ride to listen to.
The latest discovery I’ve made in that niche is Danish group Satanic Assault Division, who have given us their latest album: KILL THE CROSS. With a name like that I was thinking of Toxic Holocaust and expected this to have a blackened thrash metal sound. And it does, but not as much as I was expecting.
The latter half of the album reminded me a lot of Nuclear Assault and their humorous rants about society, which Satanic Assault Division are very good at, but from ‘Destroying the Temple of God’ to ‘Satanic Purification’, this is a well written and beautifully lo-fi black metal album. I’d handsomely compare it to Marduk and Black Witchery. Everything is there, great tremolos, wonderful raspy screams from the vocalist and plenty of anti-religious backing sounds like choirs-esque backing vocals.
Then, things take a turn for the surreal and we get a more light hearted side, which is certainly reflected with titles like ‘Religious Cunts’ and ‘Rays of Poison’ before ending on a cover of GG Allin’s band: The Murder Junkies.
Satanic Assault division know their roots and have paid homage to the vast array of punk and classic thrash which has shaped their black metal outlook on religion and murder and sexual debauchery. A band worthy of many a listen if you like your music putrid and full of shock tactics that will make even the most liberal listener look back over their shoulder.

Remember when the Scandinavian black metal hordes burned churches and brought death and destruction over the continent? The controversy surrounding the genre was immense. Murder, suicide and severe anti-religious rage were accompanied by music that seemed to come directly from hell. Its adept, wearing corpse paint and shirts with unreadable band logos terrorized common sense. It was actually a cultural thing, a counter reaction against the atrocities committed by the Christians who wanted to convert the entire region.
Well, in some regions that dark era of black metal is still very alive and kicking. In Denmark, in the year 2012, another horde arose. Their names is Satanic Assault Division and they want to burn the earth. Highly influenced by the ancient blackened deities, including Emperor, Darkthrone, Carpathian Forest and so on, this quintet revives the most satanic versions of the genre and bring it back into our age. Once again, it's a counter reaction, this time facing the massive post-black storm with fierce, brutal, primitive and evil music.
Musically, you can expect something quite similar to the previously mentioned bands. That being brutal, harsh black metal, loaded with blast beats and haunted screams. However, there are some seriously brilliant passages to be found on this album. 'Destroying The Temple Of God', a title that says quite enough of the mindset of this band, immediately blasts their punishing sound in your face. Well varied, well written, well produced and so intense it's almost beautiful.
'Beast' is one of my favorite songs on 'Kill The Cross'. With fierce, almost inhuman drums, this one drills through your skull at an industrial paste. That being said, the drums on this album are awesome. Whether it's the blast beats, the slow, doomy parts or the uptempo, thrash metal induced passages, this rhythm-animal delivers bigtime. The other musicians follow quite effortlessly in this raging alternation between tempos. In 'Defiled By Abalam' the speed takes on extremes, much to my delight actually.
These are just three songs of a stunning black metal album. I haven't been this enthusiastic about and old school album since I discovered Mörk Gryning and Unlord. Ok, I admit, maybe a few other pieces sent to me by Satanath records had a similar effect but this one breathes a perfect atmosphere, has a perfect amount of variation and sounds perfect overall. As far as traditional Scandinavian black metal albums is concerned, this is arguably one of the best in recent history.

Satanic Assault Division are a band from Denmark that plays a very raw and satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Kill The Cross" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and Metallic Media.
A very heavy and melodic sound starts off the album before going into a very fast and raw black metal direction that also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and high pitched screams and you can also hear death metal growls at times as well as that genre also influencing the bands musical style along with elements of thrash.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the solos and leads are done in a more melodic fashion and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses clean playing can be heard in certain sections of the recording while some of the heavier riffs bring in a touch of black'n'roll along with some first wave elements an they close the album with a cover of The Murder Junkies "Once A Whore".
Satanic Assault Division plays a style of black metal that is very fast, raw, melodic and blasphemous and also mixes in a touch of death and thrash metal, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Satanism, Anti Christian, Blasphemy and Murder themes.
In my opinion Satanic Assault Division are a very great sounding raw and melodic satanic black metal band and if are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Destroying The Temple Of God" "Kill The Cross" "Satanic Purification" and "Rays of Poison".

Ortodoxia blacker a ultranza. Satanic Division Assault no ceden ni un centímetro en su postura de apostarse férreamente dentro de los márgenes más rígidos del género al cual abrazan fervientemente: el Black Metal. No hay nada aquí que no entre dentro de dicho género, todo suena a Black Metal, todo huele a Black Metal. Desde la portada (muy fea, por cierto) hasta el sonido chirriante y filoso (aunque falto de graves que le den más cuerpo al sonido global), pasando por la estética del grupo (corpsepainting, cintos con balas, pentagramas, tachas) y siguiendo por las líricas (satanismo, muerte, anticristianismo, blasfemias en cantidades industriales), todo es parte del catálogo de herramientas que los fundamentalistas del estilo usan a diestra y siniestra.
Pero, siempre tiene que haber un pero, nada de esto te asegura que tu banda de Black Metal vaya a ser una buena banda. Lo importante no está en ser fiel al género y cumplir con todos y cada uno de los requisitos exigidos para ser aceptado por las hordas de trve blackers que pretenden imponerse por sobre todas las cosa relacionadas con el género. Lo importante es saber cómo usar las herramientas que tienes a mano para que tu banda suene bien, como mínimo. Satanic Division Assault no deslumbran, suenan demasiado lineales y sus composiciones carecen de ese carisma que poseen las buenas canciones. Pero lo compensan con 2 cosas que tampoco deben faltar: una actitud desafiante que no admite discusiones, y mucha fiereza al momento de ejecutar sus creaciones. Creíbles, estos daneses son creíbles, aunque lo que hacen no sea increíble.
Gorgoroth, los primeros discos de Dark Funeral, el viejo Enthroned, por ahí va la cosa. Ya deben haber pensado en esos nombres mientras leen la reseña, seguramente. Si lo hicieron, estuvieron acertando. Sin embargo, la mejor canción del disco es aquella que se aleja claramente de esas influencias, la composición que nos muestra a un grupo más rocker y menos obsesionado con los parámetros convencionales del estilo. El track en cuestión se llama "Kill The Cross", sí, la canción que lleva el nombre del disco, con su riff rocker de pura cepa, un ritmo sexual hasta la lujuria, un estribillo pegadizo y una atmósfera perversa que le calza como un guante. Del resto del álbum solamente puedo decir que se trata de una entretenida y honesta exhibición del más puro y crudo Black Metal. Los fieles hasta la muerte lo adorarán, los más exigentes tal vez lo ignoren, y los detractores del género lo odiarán. A mí me agrada y punto.

Die Dänen von SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION hatten mich mit ihrem Erstlingswerk positiv überrascht. Nachdem diese sich danach den Allerwertesten abgetourt haben, was sie auch aktuell immer noch machen, fand der Fünfer von der Insel Fünen trotzdem Zeit einen Nachfolger einzutrümmern. Voller Vorfreude brannte ich darauf diesen mein eigen nennen zu dürfen.
Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Zwar war dieser nicht mehr nur in der bisherigen an schwedischen Panzerfahrern angelehnten Traditionen verankert, aber dennoch ein enorm räudiges Stück Old School Black Metal. Es finden sich im Jahre 2015 neben klirrend kalten Elementen auch Mid Tempo Parts, eher dem Thrash verwandte Stücke und auch dem Punk wird ein Stück weit Aufmerksamkeit geliehen. Was natürlich ein wenig Weiterentwicklung zeigt, macht in gleichem Maße aber ein wenig die bisher gewohnte Ballerei ein bisschen zu nichte. Aber das ist Jammerei auf hohem Niveau. Songs wie ''Defiled By Abalam'' rasen wie der Satan persönlich durch die Hölle und ''Bar Kokhba'' kann sogar den Groove anbieten. Je nachdem, was man nun gerade für Vorlieben hat oder auf was man nun gerade Lust hat, es wird einiges angeboten. Man muss nur zugreifen. Trotz aller schwarzer Raserei denke ich, dass ein Album wie ''Kill The Cross'' das Zeug dazu haben könnte sogar Leute anzusprechen, die allgemein nicht wirklich etwas mit Black Metal am Hut haben. Ist das also das so genannte Konsensalbum dieser Sparte? Bestimmt nicht, denn dazu ist dieses Teil in den Zwischenräumen einfach zu frostbitten trve, in der Tradition verhaftet und fernab von aller Moderne.
Die Produktion könnte zwar unterm Strich gerne noch ein wenig mehr Brillianz haben, damit die Feinheiten zur Geltung kommen könnten. Letztendlich ist das hier aber immer noch ein Black Metal Album. Und insofern macht die Vertonung des Materials von SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION in dieser Art und Weise genau den Sinn, den es hier auch macht. Die positive Überraschung beim Debüt war zwar etwas höher ausgefallen, aber ''Kill The Cross'' ist ein herrlich bösartiges Album geworden, das es schafft frischen Wind in die Niederhöllen zu bringen.

Altar! Das ist mal ein prolliger Bandname! Wie mag diese Combo aus Dänemark wohl klingen? Wenn man den Namen liest und die bemalten, mit Ketten und Nieten übersäten Überzeugungstäter auf dem Foto sieht, dann bleiben keine Fragen mehr offen. Schnellen, typisch skandinavischen Black Metal gibt es nämlich auf die Glocken, dessen alter Spirit hier ehrenvoll hoch gehalten wird. Mayhem, Darkthrone, Immortal, Urgehal, Tsjuder, Craft, Beastcraft, Isvind, Azaghal, aber auch tschechische Vereter wie Maniac Butcher, Dark Storm oder Inferno fallen sofort als passende Vergleiche ein, auch Akerbeltz aus Spanien. Man muss nicht viel mehr sagen. Alle wissen nun, worum es geht. Die Produktion ist dünn und klar und dient perfekt der Untermalung der finsteren Atmosphäre, die es zu vermitteln gilt. Mit fast einer Stunde vielleicht etwas zu lang ausgefallen, gibt es musikalisch aber nix zu meckern. Fuckin´ old school und voll auf die Fresse!

Tak na dobrą sprawę większości z Was za recenzję wystarczy sama nazwa zespołu. Reszta czytelników pewnie też domyśla się, że Satanic Assault Division to black metal. Staroszkolny, skandynawski, wulgarny i jadowity. Tęsknicie za piwnicznym, prymitywnym ujęciem metalu szatana, juchy i sodomizowania kłamliwych kurwipołciów w sutannach? No to Kill the Cross pokochacie.
To drugi pełniak duńskiego kwintetu. Wydany rok temu przez kolektyw Satanath Records, Metallic Media i Black Plague Records krążek przynosi prawie godzinę tego, co misie (a konkretnie pandy) lubią najbardziej.
W sumie to nie spodziewałem się, że ta płyta podejdzie mi aż tak. Nie, żebym był w jakiś sposób do SAD uprzedzony. Wręcz przeciwnie, nigdy wcześniej o nich nie słyszałem. Może te zaskoczenie spowodowane było layoutem wydania, minimalistyczno-brzydkawym, z nijakim zdjęciem z tyłu i książeczką zawierającą wyłącznie tekst na czerwono walnięty? A może to wina wyszczerzonych i wymalowanych facjat muzyków (tak na marginesie, nie wydaje Wam się, że basista mniej lub bardziej celowo wyszedł jak z rozbieranej sesji do Cosmopolitan?). Względnie chodziło o długość trwania płyty, stanowczo zbyt długą. Tak czy siak, odpaliłem Kill the Cross nastawiony raczej miernie. Szczęśliwie już od pierwszych minut duńskie diabły rozwiewają wszelkie wątpliwości. Nawet, jeżeli razem z autorem nie przepadasz akurat za tą odnogą muzyki.
Cały myk tej płyty polega na tym, że to niby black metal, ale równie dobrze słuchać tego można jak rock’n’rolla. Wszystko dzięki świetnym kompozycjom. Jestem pełen szacunku dla ekipy Satanic Assault Division, goście tworzą lepsze piosenki niż niejedna zasłużona supergrupa. Tego po prostu słucha się miło i przyjemnie. Czy to black’n’punkowy Beast (solówka jest supi), czy heavy metalowy Kill the Cross, czy bardziej balladowy Pleasures of the Flesh, czy lodowaty Evangelical Epidemic, wszystkie strzały co do jednego są świetnie zmontowane, chwytliwe i bardzo przyjemne do słuchania. Nie ma tu nic, czego nie słyszelibyśmy wcześniej, nie ma supertechniki (chociaż muzycy grają bardzo sprawnie), a jednak zmontowane jest to w sposób wręcz przebojowy. I zróżnicowany. Jakoś w okolicach trzeciego, czwartego utworu miałem wrażenie, że niedługo motywy się skończą i płyta zrobi się wtórna i nużąca. No więc właśnie nie robi się, każdy kolejne kawałki są zróżnicowane i każdy da się rozpoznać.
Podoba mi się też brzmienie płyty. Nie jest nagrywana chlebem, brzmi zacnie i odpowiednio. Gitary mają moc i ostrość, bas co prawda często zanika, ale gdy jest, świetnie akcentuje, co trzeba. Perkusja gra bez zarzutu a wokal to wręcz perełka. Normalnie kurwicy dostaję gdy słyszę takie sapanie. Tu byłem bardzo zadowolony (i niejako tym faktem zaskoczony). Haxen wyje zimno, jadowicie, złowieszczo, a mimo to ma moc i ciężar. Dzięki poważnemu podejściu do nagrywania ta płyta jest jeszcze lepsza.
Większych wad nie zauważyłem. Może tylko długość płyty, choć to też kwestia względna. Polecam mocno, jeżeli mi podchodzi, to fani czerniny będą bardzo zadowoleni.

Segundo trabajo de los daneses Satanic Assault Division, y el primero que tengo el gusto de reseñar.
Las pruebas están a la vista, “Kill the cross” es un recorrido por el black/thrash más agresivo que haya en el mercado, y con aristas a todas luces interesantes.
El concepto del álbum es claramente sumergir al oyente en un mundo atormentado y doloroso, lleno de pesadumbre y desosiego. Musicalmente hablando, “Kill the cross” es uno de los álbumes más vertiginosos, agresivos y a la vez ganchero que he escuchado. La fórmula se basa en temas riffs a los palos, buenas melodías, blast-beats demoledores, y fundamentalmente la chirriante voz de Thomas Haxen, radicando en ésta la mayor influencia black del quinteto.
Recomendado para fans de Bewitched, Marduk, Witchery y bandas del estilo, pero todos están invitados a este festín blasfemo que propone Satanic Assault Division. DISCAZO.

Замечательный истребительный блак-трешевый угар от датской зондер-команды, специализирующейся на быстром богохульном блаке, при том отнюдь не чуждом классному кровавому гитарному запилу и даже адским хорам хрипатых персонажей. Диск реализован Satanath Records в солидном сотрудничестве с Black Plague Records (USA) и Metallic Media (USA). Надо ли говорить о том, что приобрести его, как и другие диски от Satanath Records и его саблейбла SOD, дорогим россиянам и жителям стран таможенного союза проще простого? Почта работает, и доставляет ценный груз из пункта А в пункт Б неукоснительно и неумолимо.
В целом это енный подарок фэнам чернейшего звука, а отчего и почему — можно будет прочитать на последующих 15 страницах )). Для начала заявляю, что команда SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION укомплектована с 12-го года и в своем составе держит людей, которые весьма известны как на региональном скандинавском уровне, так и на мировом андеграундном. Я, как помните, иногда даю для впечатления перечисление групп, в которых играли музыканты. Но не в этот раз, ибо этот список уж очень большой. Факт. Сами откройте на архивах и посмотрите. К тому же надо заметить такой нетривиальный факт — в буклете указаны пять человек состава, а на архивах по этому альбому записаны аж шесть человек. И это заметьте, не симфо-блак, где не редки такие составы. А вот вам сюрпрайс — на втором траке соляки сыграл Devo из легендарного и современного состава Мардука.
Да, это конечно не симфо-блак, это откровенный, угарнейший и квалифицированный блак-треш, в своей may be самой прецизионной форме. Это вы поймете сразу, как приступите прослушивать этот немалый по времени диск — более 55 минут игрового тайминга. Великолепно просто. Струнная группировка здесь, а она мощная, мастеровито лепит, кроит, выдает на гора черные трешевые риффы, причем абсолютно разнообразно и с большой долей фантазии и просто композиторского мастерства. Ад при этом получается невыносимо анимированным, можно даже и сказать, одухотворенным. Некоторые запилы просто тянут на номинацию «сильнейшая работа струнных месяца», и в этом нет никакого преувеличения.
На то, как валят эти гитаристы, можно смотреть и слушать долго. Как на огонь. Ритм-секция тут талантлива и шикарно организована. И кроме приятных и привычных обычных трешевых структур, тут время от времени проскальзывают НЕОРДИНАРНЫЕ, хоть и металлические каскады. Наверно, им можно повесить тэг техно-блака (!!!) (да-да!). Но это только приятное дополнение в этой адской мясорубке. А аппарат получился просто шикарным. Он оголтело рубит, пилит и тотально прогоняет мясо на острейшие лезвия ножа. Иногда композер снижает скорость от «быстро» до «не так быстро» и тогда появляются настоящие гимны пеклу в его экстатическом проявлении, когда из всех труб этого обиталища проклятых душ летит дым и главное — искры, значит там шуруют в печах кочергами и растапливают жир на сковородках. Повеселятся на славу.
Вокалист Haxen — завзятый блак-вокаллер, каких мало на нашем грешном глобусе. Мало того, что он обладает безбрежным спектром своего ужасающего инструмента — он расщеплен и мощен, как свитая стальной проволокой пачка арматуры. Соответственно достается слушателям реально! Но главное — то, с каким эмоциональным накалом исторгает он свой текст! Это где-то содом и гоморра! А подчас и апокалипсис. Уж будьте уверены!
Нельзя при этом раскладе не сказать о саунде это черного творения. Чем больше угля сыпется в топку, тем меньше шансов, что каждый кусок и партия прозвучит максимально отчетливо. Но не в этот раз. Команда вложила, думается, немалые средства, чтобы этот HELL зазвучал кристально, сочио, ярко и доступно. По-настоящему ценная и точная работа. Иначе говоря, праздник продолжается! Высокие баллы.
Už jsem se skoro lekl, že všichni čerti opustili peklo. Chcete absolutní antikřesťanský hodokvas? Máte chuť na totální BLACK METAL s přídavkem norské symboliky, krajiny, kde se v popel proměnily katolické kostely pod tíhou plamenů? Ano? Tak u SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION jste na té nejčernější (to znamená nejlepší) adrese. Jen se řádně podívejte na obal! Klišé jako to prase, kluci vypadají taky pěkně a úplně parádní je potisk CD! Ten obrázek hořícího chrámu mě prostě baví. :) Musel jsem ho zkrátka k recenzi naroubovat.
A co jsou ti neznabozi vlastně zač? Přicházejí z dánského města Odense, na kontě mají už album „March to Victory“ z roku 2013, které se po stránce sdělení užod „Kill the Cross“ asi příliš odlišovat nebude. SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISON – to není název hodný plachých koloušků, stylistika je nad slunce prohnilá. Extrémní blackmetalový průvan, v podstatě ničím nepřekvapující, nicméně zlověstný a útočně vykřičený. Satanic Assault DivisionPokud jsou mezi vámi posluchači, jež mají hozeny preference právě tímto směrem, jsem si jist, že vás materiál na „Kill the Cross“ spíše příjemně překvapí. Jedná se totiž o takový nadprůměrný mix mezi říznější tvorbou IMPALED NAZARENE a albem „Panzer Division Marduk“ od MARDUK. Tříminutové skladby nejsou nikterak komplikované, jdou hezky na dřeň a pochopitelně se nesou v těch nejrychlejších možných otáčkách.
Přestože nahrávky z devadesátých let měly zvuk vždy hodně zastřený a kvalitativně nikterak vyšperkovaný, tak „Kill the Cross“ se v příkladném marasmu nenese. Nejedná se sice o nikterak zázračný křišťál, ovšem k nějaké tragedii SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION nesměřují ani omylem. Je satanic diskjen škoda, že si nedali trochu více záležet na osobitějším projevu. Příliš původního tady zkrátka nenajde, což ale víceméně vychází z onoho žánrového zacílení. Teď už je jen otázkou, jestli se milovníci bezbožného ranku dokáží dostat do hudby i těch méně provařených spolků, neboť v tomto ohledu světu stále vládnou převážně osvědčená jména. Jako symbol protestu však deska poslouží. To bezesporu.
Pokud vám tedy ve sbírce chybí pořádná blackmetalová rubanice, vřele mohu doporučit i tento nekompromisní kusanec. Milovníci image dostanou k dobru kolosální antikřesťanskou grafiku, která logicky zapadá do celku bezbožnosti. Více však už od SATANIC ASSAULT DIVISION nedostanete.

Nemrég a hangpróba hozzászólásai között igencsak elszabadultak az indulatok, mikor mindenki saját vallások iránti nézeteiről adott hírt, gyakran borsot törve az épp ellentétes véleményen lévő orra alá, csak hogy a markába nevethessen annak ingerült reakcióin. Tény és való, én sem lógtam ki a sorból, de mindez eltörpülhet a beszédes nevű Satanic Assalult Division nevű zenekar új lemezének csodálatos borítója mellett. Tény, hogy ocsmány egy külcsínnel van dolgunk, de jelen esetben tökéletes tarsolyt nyújt annak az istenkáromlásnak és vallásellenességnek, amit ez a vidám kis társaság azért igényesen felpengetett a lemezre. Félretéve tehát minden külsőséget és témaválasztást, nincs más dolgunk, minthogy lefeküdjünk a lemeznek és hagyjuk, hogy laposra hengereljen minket.
A Kill The Cross a dán zenekar második nagylemeze, így már elvárhatunk tőlük némi minőséget viselt dolgaik ügyében és azt kell mondjam, ezt meg is kapjuk. Félelmetes, hogy a zenekar milyen energiákat tud mozgósítani, az pedig még engem is meglepett, hogy mindezt 56 percen keresztül képesek is fenntartani, pedig az ilyen impulzív gyűlöletbombák általában kisebb adagokban fogyasztva szoktak nagyot ütni. Azt azért illik megemlíteni, hogy a lemez végén szereplő rövid feldolgozás a feleslegesség tökéletes mintaképe...Kinyilatkoztatásuk nyelve nem lehet más, mint black metal, annak is a mocskos, 90-es években diplomázott formája egy egészen emészthető formában. A lemezen viszonylag rövid, átlagosan 3-4 perc körüli dalok mozognak, de időnként hosszabb lélegzetvételű szerzemények is tiszteletüket teszik. A 14 tétel esetében ténylegesen dalokról beszélhetünk, ami miatt nem kerülhetjük el azt sem, hogy bizony dallamok is szerepet kapnak a kiadványon, de azért ne számítsatok egy Justin Bieber kópiára, inkább csak jól elkülönülő, nagyon igényesen kitalált fekete misére, ahol komoly szerepet kap minden hangszer és természetesen az igazi, „szívből utálom a képed” stílusú károgás, amit szintén sikerült egészen változatos formában tálalni. Amivel azonnal leveheti a feketefém hívőt a lábáról a kiadvány, az a dalokban munkálkodó már-már szemtelen energia, amit a szokásos atmoszférikus, jajj de eltévedtem a sötét erdőben féle északi black metal helyett egy sokkal inkább extrém, adrenalindús gondolkodásmódnak köszönhetünk. Hogy tiszta legyen a dolog, álljon itt a legelső fülbemászó szerzemény, a Destroying The Temple Of God.
Mielőtt azonban azt hinnétek, hogy ezen a szinten kalapálnak végig 14 dalt, azt kell mondjam, szerencsére nem erről van szó. Minden tételbe sikerült valami finomságot csempészni, legyen az egy közösen kántálható átok, vagy egy velős riff, csípős szóló, emellett a tempókat is folyamatosan változtatják, így a sötét lassulásokkal nászra kelő darálások és középtempós menetelések is mindig jól tudnak esni. Be-becsúszik itt az atmoszférikus vonal, a doom, időnként a black 'n' roll, az egyetlen változatlan tényező az energia és a látszólag klasszikus sablonokból építkező frissesség.
Így tudok elképzelni egy vidám, lélekből játszott lélektelenséget, amit leginkább nagy hangerővel tudok ajánlani mindenkinek. Mivel az összes dal egyéni, okosan ficánkoló kis féreg, ezért nem érdemes kiemelni egy tételt sem, fogyasztása egészben ajánlott a kiadó bandcamp oldalán. Itt pedig a Bar Kohba c. dal klipjét tekinthetitek meg, ahol azért a műfaj nélkülözhetetlen vicsorgásai mögött felfedezhetjük a "de jól nyomjuk" életérzést is.

Tu as un nom à coucher dehors ? Ton artwork est digne de figurer dans un certain topic de Vs ? Tes photos de groupes sont ingrates ? Tu es Danois. Tu es, tu es ? Merci Julien, tu es Satanic Assault Division et Kill the cross est ton (déjà !) deuxième album.
Je ne connaissais rien de ce groupe mais ces premiers attouchements ne m’ont guère donné envie de baisser la totalité de la culotte. Comme je suis un homme de devoir (tu le sais bien…), j’ai cependant décidé de franchir le pas. J’ai bien fait. Même la fille la plus moche peut révéler des talents secrets à faire pâlir les plus belles. C’est un peu le cas de SAD. Son BM est violent, brutal, rapide et, disons-le, franchement agréable.
Alors ne t’attend pas à la révolution de palais. Ce que tu vas prendre pleine face, c’est un BM bien typé début 90’, avec larsens, accélérations qui tuent et attitude sataniste en veux-tu en voilà. Un BM qui ne crache pas sur les ralentissements mélodiques ("Destroying the temple of God" ou "Pleasures of the flesh" par exemple) et qui n’insulte pas non plus les ponts plus aériens. Mais un BM qui aime quand même plus que tout la vitesse et l’attaque frontale ("Beast" ; "Defiled by Abalam" ; "Atomic Holocaust" ; "Satanic Purification"), un peu à la manière d’un vieux Marduk (d’avant la misère rampante servie depuis Panzer, oui c’est mon avis, je sais que tu vas grogner mais faut t’y faire). Un BM qui apprécie aussi – et c’est une qualité – les bons vieux soli trempés dans le heavy ("Beast", "Defiled by Abalam", vers les 2’30) voire dans le thrash ("Kill the cross" et ses soli étourdissants).
L’originalité n’est pas l’axe principal du groupe. Cela n’enlève rien à son potentiel. La structure de ses titres est suffisamment prenante pour que l’ennui ou l’impression de déjà entendu ne se fasse pas trop sentir. Même si, encore une fois, l’influence Marduk plane sans cesse. Un effort est fait sur la rythmique, presque punk par instants ("Defiled by Abalam", "Satanic Purification" ou "Atomic Holocaust" par exemple), ce qui apporte une épaisseur particulière au morceau en brisant la dynamique purement BM. Les guitares alternent approche purement black et digressions thrash ; cette diversité rejaillit sur l’album, qui propose des colorations différentes bienvenues ("Evangelical Epidemic" et son intro rampante).
Le groove apporté par le groupe insuffle quant à lui une dynamique assez rock n’ roll aux morceaux les plus brutaux ("Atomic Holocaust", "Kill the cross"). Cette dimension ne doit pas être négligée dans la musique du groupe, qui aère le propos et diversifie là encore les sources de l’album. Sans être une trouvaille, cet aspect enrichit toutefois considérablement la musique proposée ("Bar Kokhba").
Le seul bémol, finalement, tient dans les 14 titres proposés ici. Dix auraient largement suffit tant il est vrai que, passé en gros un peu plus de la moitié de l’album, les redondances sont évidentes. Dès "Religious Cunts", l’ennui prend le dessus, soit 5 morceaux de trop. Non qu’ils soient mauvais en eux-mêmes mais simplement qu’ils n’apportent plus rien à la machine.
Si tu es curieux et que tu veux abreuver tes oreilles d’un joli produit estampillé 90’ mais suffisamment diversifié pour ne pas te rappeler que des souvenirs, fais comme moi, donne sa chance au produit.
