On May 27th Satanath Records (Georgia) and Pluton’s Rising Productions (Poland) will co-release Under The Sign Of Blasphemy, the debut album from the Roman black/death metal band Perversa, and today we help introduce it through our premiere of an album track named “The Trial Of Christianity“.

The members of Perversa aren’t newcomers, having been involved in numerous other groups before this one, including Lord Vampyr, Malamorte, Handful of Hate, Massemord, Funeral Oration, and Iblis, but what brought these Italian musicians together under the banner of Perversa was a shared desire to practice satanic black metal in a most evil way — and that’s vividly borne out by the song you’re about to hear.

This song is a trial by fire and blades, with the outcome not in doubt. The high whine and whir of the riffing is both delirious and vicious, demented and cruel, raw and ravaging — capped by snarling and screaming vocals of equal ferocity and fanaticism. Below those scathing sensations the drums hammer and rumble, and the bass bursts in subterranean upheavals.

The riffage maniacally writhes and roils but also segues into sensations of fear and agony as well as imperious haughtiness, rising in blasphemous glory through the shrill electrifying trill of the lead guitar. Only at the end does the high-speed savagery and black thrashing madness stop, and bells then toll like a funeral dirge.

Under the Sign of Blasphemy was recorded from February to June 2023, and it was mixed and mastered in June 2023 at Music Up Studio by Sk. The album features a logo by Christophe Szpajdel and artwork by Stealth Fangs. It will be released in a jewel-box CD edition with a 6-page booklet, and digitally.

Perversa have also made clear that the band don’t want to be just a side-project, but instead a full-fledged band with the intention of playing live in as many places as possible — “to spread the word of evil everywhere!”

Speaking of spreading evil, after the links we’re also including a stream of the scorching first single off the album, “Satan Majestic Triumphator“. If anything, it’s even more infernally glorious and devilishly swirling than the song we’ve premiered, and even more packed with exhilarating and head-hooking fretwork, dynamic drumming, and thoroughly rabid vocals.
