Eight years after the release of their debut album Mutilation in the Chapel, and seven years after their EP Realm of Eternal Suffering, the bestial Dallas death metal horde Morgue Meat are returning at last with their second full-length, Apocalyptic Visions, which is now set for co-release on May 23rd by Satanath Records (Georgia) and Pest Records (Romania), emblazoned with stunning cover art by Mark Cooper.
To help pave the way toward the new album’s release, today we’re premiering a thoroughly evil song from the record named “Conqueror’s Wrath“.
This new song is one that’s so dynamic it will keep you on your toes — though every one of its rapidly changing phases is malevolent to the core.
In the opening phase the drummer uses the snare to snap at the listeners’ necks like the crack of a steel-tipped whip, while the bass delivers a gut-level punch and the riffing provides an insidious and squirming throb. Haughty gutturals with an abyssal depth add to the music’s primitive, dangerous, diseased, and imperious atmosphere.
In the second phase, violent madness breaks out, with the rhythm section thundering and battering, the guitars maniacally writhing and slashing, and wild cries exclaiming the words. It’s a hell-for-leather gallop, but more sudden changes lie ahead.
The band fire up the jackhammers, and after an eerie and dismal bridge they brutishly pound their listeners senseless, but with time left for one last paroxysm of raging insanity.
Or, to put it more succinctly, Morgue Meat have brought forth a song that’s gruesome, thuggish, cruel, and deranged, just the kind of brutal, malignant, but electrifying experience that slavering fans of death metal are likely to latch onto.
Apocalyptic Visions was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Nomad Recording Studios (Absu, King Diamond). It will be released on jewel-box CD format with a 4-page booklet, as well as digitally.
Satanath and Pest strongly recommend it for fans of Revenge, Blasphemy, Incantation, Disgorge, Viscera Infest, Embalmed, and Autopsy.
