This is a review of an earlier recording from Finland's Sacrilegious Impalement which shows the music going for a raw, satanic and misanthropic style of black metal and the album was origianlly released in 2011 and called "II -Exalted Spectres" which was re-issued in 2021 as a joint effort between Satanath, Desert of Death and MAT Records.
Heavy yet melodic riffing starts off the album along with some grim black metal screams a few seconds later. Middle Eastern style chants can also be heard briefly on one of the tracks while the faster sections of the songs also add in a great amount of tremolo picking and blast beats which also gives the music more of a raw feeling.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a decent mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are also done in a very dark, chaotic yet melodic style. All of the musical instruments on the recording also have a very powerful sound to them along with a couple of tracks tracks also adding in a brief use of clean playing as well as a brief use of whispers and spoken word parts but keeping the main focus on a heavier style.
On this recording Sacrilegious Impalement remained true to t he raw, misanthropic and satanic black metal style of t heir previous releases. The production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover Misanthropy, Anti Christianity, Anti Islam, Satanism, Death and Destruction themes.
In my opinion this was another great sounding album from Sacrilegious Impalement and if you are a fan of raw, misanthropic and satanic black metal, you should check out this re-issue.

Today’s review is of Finnish Black Metal band Sacrilegious Impalement’s second album, celebrating its recent rerelease.
This album is an offering of pure Black Metal that is performed in a unique way without any need of genre bending experimentation or use of modern elements. Combining an aggressive and furious approach in the likes of Marduk or sometimes Impaled Nazarene with slower and more occult tracks, the album is varied but has some sense of cohesion.
Most of the initial tracks are a direct offering of Extreme Metal with no decorum, but as the full-length progresses, a different kind of songs start to appear. Being much gloomier and occult, they sometimes even take an ambient approach, perhaps somewhat comparable to Carpathian Forest. These songs help to give some extra darkness and a sense of mystique that envelops the whole album in an interesting aura while always displaying an old-school style. My personal highlights are “The Woods In A Solitary Soul” and “Aletheia”.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal.

Finnish artist Sacrilegious Impalement first released the album "Exalted Spectres" back in 2011, a production that was since reissued in 2021. Extreme metal is the style explored on this production, with growl style distorted vocals catering for the lyrics department and the guitars dominating the instrumental backing. The compositions here ebb and flow in pace as well as intensity, with atmospheric laden sections and tight and dampened passages alternating with midtempo and high tempo passages with a medium to high level of intensity. Fluctuating arrangements with and without cutting guitar solo harmonies on top as well as more dramatic impact oriented passages are the most typical traits here, and while there is a dynamic and dramatic ebb and flow present the energy level tends to stay high throughout. I also note that the mix and production is of a good quality throughout, which does give this album an appealing character. An album to seek out by extreme metal fans that appreciate well produced material with dynamic characteristics and a high energy level.
