Colombian black metal band Evil Nerfal has been lurking in the underground for close to a decade now, but it wasn’t until 2016 that the group released their debut full length ‘Hail Black Metal... Vobiscum Buer...’. With their roots in European and South American black metal, the group delivered a dose of scorching material that emphasized blistering riffing and speed. Close to two years have passed since then and now the band is prepping their sophomore effort ‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’, due out January 9th on GrimmDistribution and Morbid Skull Records. With this effort Evil Nerfal has let some death metal influences seep into their black metal and tightened up their production values without losing that unhinged and chaotic feeling from before. Today we’re premiering the song Foedus Versus Deus (Against the Great Drone of History) so you can hear what these Colombian maniacs have to offer.
The instrumentals start things off with a bang, launching right into blasting drums and guitar work that swirls around the recording in a chaotic fashion. It’s clear that Evil Nerfal’s intent was to keep the listener on edge and off balance, as the guitars change gears so frequently that it can be dizzying at times and there are a few moments where it sounds like the entire piece is on the verge of collapse. But that rough around the edges feel is part of the appeal, as it captures the raw and unpredictable nature of South American extreme metal that’s been so prominent for all these years. The overall tonality seems to be channeling just as much old-school death metal as black metal, and the sweeping solo that dominates the second half reinforces that.
One of the benefits of the improved production is that the vocal work comes through with full intensity, as Brannagh Bapheker’s lower pitched screams spread across the recording with a menacing presence. While Foedus Versus Deus (Against the Great Drone of History) doesn’t emphasize vocals quite as much as some of the other songs on the album, each appearance allows the screams to maintain a razor sharp feel and jolt the listener back to attention with each word. It’s a familiar style but Evil Nerfal does it justice and spreads their satanic gospel with just as much intensity and fire as one could possibly want.
‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’ channels equal amounts of black and death metal, weaving the two together with chaotic and unpredictable transitions. It’s an album that’s designed to attack the listener, and given how much black metal falls into overly familiar patterns that unpredictability is welcome. Evil Nerfal’s sophomore effort is out January 9th on GrimmDistribution and Morbid Skull Records.

“EVIL NERFAL IS JUST UNDERGROUND BLACK METAL, NO FASHION, NO TRENDS, CRUSH ALL POSERS AND YOUR METAL OF SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
So says the descriptor on Columbian melodic orthodox duo Evil Nerfal‘s Facebook page. Which is a fair warning of what you’re in for on ‘En Las Fauces Del Demonio (Taedium Daemoni)’, the teaser track from only their second album in their ten year existence, ‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’. From the raw militaristic intro to the melodic twists and turns, these demons have never cared what you think and don’t seem keen to start now. A solid track, full of promise and misanthropy. Full album drops January 9th next year.
We’re now slightly more than three weeks away from Christmas, and really, what says Christmas better than a reverent ode named “Fuck Off Jesus Christ“?
No doubt this song will ring from the PA systems of churches near and far and quickly become part of the caroling playlist of shopping malls and elevators. People “in the know” say that the Bible-thumpers who control our own U.S. Congress are planning to make it part of the introduction to their prayer breakfasts. Humble pilgrims trekking to see the face of Jesus miraculously formed by a donkey’s puckered asshole will have it in their heads as they put one foot in front of the other toward the barnyard shrine.
Well, not really. But we can dream, can’t we?
“Fuck Off Jesus Christ” may not fill the air waves in churches, malls, or make-shift shrines to imagined miracles, but it’s a damned good song that will pleasure your earholes. It comes from an album named Bellum Est Pater Omnium by the Colombian black metal band Evil Nerfal, an album that will be jointly released on January 9 by GrimmDistribution (Belarus) and Morbid Skull Records (El Salvador).
We are told that Evil Nerfal was born in Pasto, a city in southwestern Colombia, drawing inspiration from the likes of old Mayhem, Marduk, Sarcófago, Enthroned, and Denial of God. Their debut album, Hail Black Metal... Vobiscum Buer..., finally appeared in 2016, but the new record reveals the work of a band who have become more creative and more distinctive since those songs were recorded, and who also now incorporate elements of death metal and western classical music (among other things), but who are no less devoted to the tenets of Satanic and anti-Christian opposition.
The band’s dedication to their philosophical principles is of course unmistakably reflected in the title of this song we’re premiering, yet at the same time, the title could be misleading. Unfamiliar with the music, I assumed the song would be some kind of stripped-down, punk-fueled rough-housing or a full-throttle, straight-ahead black-thrashing rampage, but in either case something much more simplistic than what the song actually turned out to be.
And here, I think it’s relevant to quote one of the band’s explanations of what they sought to achieve in the album’s music: “It is intended that the reception of the disc involves a self-absorption in dementia, an aesthetic that immerses in the shadows of the subject, that within the repertoire of the undeground an ontological removal is provoked, an experimentation of satanic catharsis.”
In addition, the band have posited that the music is, “above all, polyphonic”: “full of nuances, harmonizations and superposition of musical figures; the voices are subject to this polyphonic game, since three styles are combined, this to highlight the possibilities that can be obtained from the black metal, an unfinished genre and always to be done”.
And indeed, “Fuck Off Jesus Christ” is a type of musical dementia — disorienting, head-spinning, unpredictable, yet managing to be cohesive and captivating despite (or perhaps because of) its unwillingness to follow a straight and simple path. The song’s tempo is in near-constant flux, and it includes contrasts between discordant, freakish, fret-jumping guitar maneuvers and rapid-fire frenzies of blasting percussion and vicious riffing, as well as a warm bubbling bass and a writhing, leaping, swirling guitar solo.
What was promised about the vocals is indeed proven true in this song as well; it combines predatory growls, blood-lusting howls, and even some clean vocalizations in an almost ecclesiastical style.

Bringing us closer to the void. Bellum Est Pater Omnium is an album featuring ten tracks.
The amount of melodic and technical riffs in this release is impressive. Yes, definitely black metal at its roots, but the more you listen the more convinced of the complexity of music arrangements. You can clearly hear it in the song "En las Fauces del Demonio" it is very evident that these are very talented musicians. Let's chat about drums.
With the majority of songs, the drum keep up with great intensity and offer interesting fills to keep you on your toes. The band had a previous album in 2016 that is also worth checking out.
In conclusion, if you want brutal and dark than look no further.

As the opening track titled "Coriolan (Overture)", played from the album "Bellum Est Pater Omnium", you would not think that it would end up being black metal after it finished. But that is just how Evil Nerfal likes it best, or at least best according to them. It is the genre of choice that only they, can craft well enough to fool any who hear their material, just as they had done with the opening number. After that track finished up of course, you are thrown together an array of tracks ranging from "In Endless Torment", "Foedus Versus Deus (Against The Great Drone Of History)", "En Las Fauces Del Demonio (Taedium Daemoni)", and "Agon (Bellum Est Pater Omnium)". This assortment being fair enough, rather aggressive in tone, but progressive in quality. In the way of how their style goes, it is your average sounding style of black metal music, varying between the likeness to that of Behemoth mixed with Immortal and some Mayhem. That is whom you get when listening in to Evil Nerfal's work. "Bellum Est Pater Omnium", is a decent piece of work, that has a lot going for it, energy, pacing, with even more instrumental content that will keep you at ease. All in all, Evil Nerfal's context is rather appealing because it is a style that mixes well enough, that you find it enjoyable no matter which way you hear it.

Evil Nerfal are a band from Columbia that has been featured before in this zine and plays a very satanic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2018 album "Bellum Est Pater Omnium" which was released as a joint effort between Grimm Distrubution and Morbid Skull Records.
A classical music intro starts off the album before going into a heavier direction which also mixes in elements of death metal along with all of the musical instruments sounding very powerful and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats can be heard along with the vocals being mostly angry black metal screams.
Throughout the recording you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while growls are also used at times along with the solos and leads also bringing in more of a black/death metal style as well as the riffs also bringing in a great amount of dark sounding melodies.
At times the vocals also get melodic while the music also mixes in a decent amount of 80's and 90's influences without losing the modern touch along with the solos and leads also getting more melodic as the album progresses and when tremolo picking is utilized it also gives the songs a more raw feeling, acoustic guitars can also be heard briefly and when spoken word parts are utilized they also give the music more of a ritualistic feeling and a couple of the later tracks are instrumentals.
On this recording Evil Nerfal expands on their satanic black metal style by adding in more death and traditional metal elements this time around as well as getting more melodic, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics are written in a mixture of Spanish and English and cover Satanism, Occultism, Anti Christianity and Misanthropy themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Evil Nerfal and if you are a fan of satanic black metal, you should check out this album.

So this release starts out with a Overture written by Beethoven. The band is a black metal act hailing from Columbia. Their promo photo is a picture of the two band members donned in corpse paint and wearing the typical metalhead regalia. They're also standing in a tree. Then their first original song commences titled "Fuck Off Jesus Christ". I the reviewer reach over to the nearby cupboard for an airplane bottle of Crown Royal I've been saving for moments like this and I down the bottle. HAILS! A weaker person would be slitting their wrists.
So what EVIL NERFAL deliver in irony does not stand up to genre nuances. Wow strangely enough according to some info about the band I found they're all about nuances as well as vocal harmonies and of course the whole approach to superposition. Yeah I hear ya and also this release reeks of kitchen sink metal. For those of you still out of touch with that genre term I'll explain. Kitchen Sink Metal is metal full of every fuckin genre take you can imagine.
EVIL NERFAL might have a foundation relying on black metal which at times they proceed well upon. It's their deviations from the genre that don't fit in as add ons. Instead it comes across as a band in influential turmoil. Are there hipsters in Columbia? I have to wonder since all of this sounds like a copy of Norway 1995, when the genre got all weird. Frankly these kids are not even close to being avant garde. The next small bottle is Captain Morgan. I've gave this five listens but the Captain can wait.

Columbian black metallers Evil Nerfal’s second record ‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’ is another Satanath release from early this year, and it is a torrent of raging, Satanic black metal that revels in its raging, magnificent evil. It is available right now, and is for fans of Darkthrone, Behemoth and Marduk.
The grand, classical intro builds the drama for the subtly titled ‘Fuck Off Jesus Christ’, which pours like magma from the speakers in scorching throes. Unlike a lot of South American black metal, Evil Nerfal doesn’t go for the ultra-necro, lo-fi approach. Instead, the likes of ‘In Endless Torment’ and the mesmerising fury of ‘En Las Fauces del Demonio’ paint with a denser, thicker palette. Much more in common with the likes of Behemoth than Beherit, ‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’ is a mature, multi faceted record of black metal at its most majestic and its most severe. In fact, the track you’d expect to be the most straightforward, necrotic monster ‘Satanic Madness Black Metal Unleashed’ is in fact probably the most flamboyant in character, with wonderful melodies flowing from blackened frets and an enticing atmosphere.
Unholy melodies and unhuman growls dance upon a roiling sea of vicious black metal, miasmic and darkly imperial. Evil Nerfal’s music is a beautiful symphony of fire and fury, and ‘Bellum Est Pater Omnium’ is an arcane conjuring of the grandest of the necro spirits. Totally essential listening.

Summoning the forces of chaos through the primordial horror of sinister music under the cloak of Satanic and anti-Christian opposition, here comes a Colombian infernal horde armed with their brand new opus.
Forged in the deepest fires of Pasto, the capital of the department of Nariño in southwestern Colombia, in 2007 by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Brannagh Bapheker, but currently located in Pereira, the capital city of the Colombian department of Risaralda located in the foothills of the Andes, the demonic Black Metal act known as Evil Nerfal is unleashing upon the earth their second full-length opus, titled Bellum Est Pater Omnium, which translates from Latin as “war is the father of all”, summoning the forces of chaos through the primordial horror of sinister music under the cloak of Satanic and anti-Christian opposition, inspired by the early days of Mayhem, Marduk, Sarcófago, Enthroned and Denial of God.
Bellum Est Pater Omnium is an album that mixes European Black Metal elements from the 90’s with influences from old school metal made in South America, also including elements of Death Metal and western classical music. The result of this symbiosis is a Black Metal characterized by extreme intensity and speed, overloaded with contrasts of times (medium and slow speeds), polysemic in its riffs, versatile in the configuration of melodies and, above all, polyphonic, full of nuances, harmonizations and superposition of musical figures. Furthermore, the philosophical substratum that sustains the repertoire of lyrics of songs is based on the ontological configuration of evil, a poetic that evokes the cosmic supremacy of Satan, imbricated in knowledge, the anti-christian force, the anti-culture par excellence, while the strength of an inner experience that advocates for freedom in the opposition, in the experience, because Black Metal is a “consistent existential praxis”. And if none of this makes any sense to you, simply hit play and let you soul be darkened by the scorching music by Evil Nerfal.
An orchestral intro titled Coriolan (Overture) lets the curtains fall majestically for the furious and austere Fuck Off Jesus Christ, with Brannagh Bapheker extracting sulfurous riffs from his guitar while at the same time gnarling like a demonic entity. Furthermore, Purson Dominus crushes his drums ruthlessly, spreading sheer blasphemy and hatred in this devilish hybrid of Black and Death Metal. After such demented start we have In Endless Torment, another infernal creation by this Colombian outfit that might sound slower than its predecessor, but it’s still as dark as the pits of hell, with Brannagh once again delivering ominous riffs and bass punches while the beats by Purson alternate between a Doom Metal-inspired pace and the utter aggression from classic Black Metal.
The temperature rises once again in a hellish display of old school Black Metal titled Foedus Versus Deus (Against The Great Drone Of History), with the vocals by Brannagh bringing nuances of the rage of classic Death Metal, resulting in one of the best songs of the album without a shadow of a doubt; whereas En Las Fauces Del Demonio (Taedium Daemoni) begins as a diabolical march of extreme music led by the thunderous beats and fills by Purson, exploding into cataclysmic Black Metal to the growls by Brannagh. Moreover, the beauty of this song is the fact it’s sung in their mother tongue Spanish, sounding even more pulverizing, wicked and eccentric. And their sonic onrush of otherworldly sounds and noises goes on in the belligerent Agon (Bellum Est Pater Omnium), with both Brannagh and Purson firing sheer Black Metal through their instruments, summoning all the evil present in our decaying society.
Satanic Madness Black Metal Unleashed is an instrumental extravaganza led by Brannagh and his classic guitar riffs while Purson keeps the pace at a dark and demolishing level, setting the tone for the hard-hitting Sathanas Kingdom Rises, a demonic, chaotic devastation bred by the duo that will please all fans of underground Extreme Metal where Brannagh screams and growls like a beast nonstop, and with the merciless pounding drums by Purson making the whole song even more impactful. Then we have Vestigial (Manifiesto De Misantropía), their second blast of unrelenting Black Metal sung in Spanish, also presenting hints of the most vicious form of Death Metal in its blasphemous waves with Purson showcasing a great performance with his intricate, raging beats and fills, before an epic and orchestral outro named Egmont (Finale) puts a climatic end to this precious gem of underground extreme music.
You can join Evil Nerfal in their blasphemous and sulfuric quest for Black Metal by visiting their Facebook page and by listening to their music on SoundCloud, and if you want to show your true support to devilish Black Metal from the underworld you can purchase the scorching Bellum Est Pater Omnium (which by the way is available for a full listen on YouTube) from the GrimmDistribution’s BandCamp page, on iTunes, on Amazon or at Discogs. May Evil Nerfal continue to pave their path of obscurity, blasphemy and hatred for many years to come, proving high-end underground Black Metal is stronger than ever even in places far away from its birthplace Scandinavia.
Best moments of the album: Fuck Off Jesus Christ, Foedus Versus Deus (Against The Great Drone Of History) and Sathanas Kingdom Rises.

Columbian Black Metal Band Evil Nerfal are another act influenced by bands from their region. Blending that evil Thrash with Black Metal with hints of Death. Brings to mind bands like Witchtrap, Sarcofago, Inquisition mixed with Krisiun, Blasphemy and Archgoat. They definitely have a killer infernal edge to their hellish metal attack. Vicious and an unholy passage to the gates beyond your demonic spells. Definitely a two thumbs up. You will feel the eternal blasphemic opus to extinguish the heavenly light!

Back in 2016 I interviewed EVIL NERFAL. I cannot remember based on what but there was something that made me want to know more about this Colombian black metal mob. Now it is time to face the new album. This is black metal that neither sounds totally 90s Norwegian nor Swedish. I have no idea if there is a Colombian black metal sound but this does blast away like there is no tomorrow. But wherever the sound come from this is rather good. It is not the most evil black metal I have heard but it still has a charm to it that appeals

The second release by this Colombian Black Metal squad brings us 10 more reasons to hate humanity. Their kind of occult, experimental, evil music or as they call it "Satan Elite Black Metal" has elements coming from the European and South American Black Metal leagues, Death Metal movement of the 90s and classical music. As their kind of honorable recognition towards the great geniuses of the history, they've picked 2 titles from Beethoven, one for the overture and the other one for the finale. So you'll find eight compositions of their own among those two classical ones, which are mainly about praising the dark forces and destroying all that is holy. Essentially anti-christian and anti-religious the tendency of their lyrics, but I am assured most of you knew it from the start, right? Some of their songs have been over-structured a bit and weren't played as precise as possible, and also due to the crystal clear sound production one can hear a few flaws there, but we talk about Black Metal, a style which is ideological in its prior form. The music they unleash upon the unprepared commonalty is mainly fast and relentless, but it has moments which are full of epic vocal parts and fine guitar harmonies. A must for all the darkened souls of experimental and occult types of Black Metal!

Includes OBI. Pit-Art CD.

The album starts off and ends up with overtures of Ludwig Van Beethoven which are eternally glorious moments of European classic music, ever. All in between songs are aggressive style of black metal from this satanic Colombian black metal act. Also, part of this record has been inspired by other geniuses; Bach, Tchaikovsky, Chopin...
Fast songs and merciless drum blast beats are their way to manifest demonic side of the music that comes with very raw and harsh sound. But it`s just part of what they do because with terror and death upon the music they try to involve few melodies into momentum of the songs. They also try to reason their blood spilling and sharp guitar riffs, to be able to compose more complicated arrangements that still fits to their radical black metal. I even would like to compare some of their guitar varieties to classical music which are shortly represented by some dynamics, tempos in the tracks... However, it`s still sounds just like black metal.
Vocals (I think that those few experimental moments with "normal" vocals sound pretty cool) and music overall are ferocious but they succeed to escape from monotony of music while so many other albums don`t. Philosophical and very offensive content of the lyrics, the one could close in one sentence - “All Hail To Darkness”. It`s general message of this album for those ones who might listen to it. A song with sweet tile - Fuck Off Jesus Christ reminds me of Sarcofago mixed with Marduk while other tracks are influenced by Mayhem, Sectasys but music still have identity of this Colombian band.
Content of this record is satanic and evil which, of course, is surrounded by South American shadows upon the concept of the music.
