Ošklivý, surový a neučesaný hudební teror, proložený tunami mrtvol.
Asphyx says:
EPIDEMIA gives us a very purid load of a raw meat this year. The brutal death metal in its own classic form which sounds very catchy and dramatic. Traditional riffs, raw sound, swing rhythm makes those records very bloody dinner. Welcome to forbidden slaughterhouse. The mister butchers know very well how to do their job. Do not expect anything special or unusual, however this is a very good piece of work. There is a blood running down the walls, someone brought a chainsaw again and all of the amateur pathologists are smiling. Today is their big day. This music is great for a dissecting room, for operation without an anesthesia, for everyone who likes to be scared while watching horrors. These songs are weeping, there is a lot of septic and there are no boundaries in case of morbidity. I really enjoyed this raw death metal. If you like the traditional merits in death metal, you are welcome. Good and very bloody album which is very good!

We have the great honor to present to you the song “Redencion Del Engendro” from the “raw”-death metal band from Ecuador, Epidemia!
South America is rife with some fantastic acts and while bands from Brazil and Chile are well documented, here’s a gem of a band from a lesser known country that is Ecuador. As you would expect, the music is merciless, savage, and also oozing with talent. If you like old school death metal, the primal kind, you are bound to be satisfied. These guys invoke the spirits of bands like Sarcofago, Sepultura, Torturer, Sadism and come up with a form of music that’s every bit as good. The band don’t waste any time in intros or interludes, but for the duration of just over 35 minutes, clobber you to your rightful senses. There is something that’s shaking the perception of metal in Ecuador, and Epidemia here couldn’t be a better ambassador. They’ll leap at you and tear your head off before you even think of a dismissive nod just because it’s not from your favourite country, yet. ‘Leprocomio’ is an album that can stand head-to-head with your favourite old school album this year, with the only difference being, they’re brutal, vicious and unrelenting and won’t pander to your prejudices.

This is the second album from these Death Metallers, who hail from Ecuador.
With an album cover that screams 80s death metal, possibly with a bit of thrash mixed in, Epidemia actually reveal themselves to be much more of a brutal 90s proposition. Leprocomio is raw, ugly and mercilessly aggressive.
The songs on this 35 minute excursion into the torturelands are savage and give the listener a right old battering. When they’re not ploughing ahead at full speed, they have a rhythmic brutality that recalls something like Origin mixed with Dying Fetus, alongside an added pinch of Brujeria. At other times though, they workover the classic Cannibal Corpse/Suffocation sound.
Although the band write unashamedly brutal music, they also make room for some more laid back riffing here and there. I particularly enjoy some of slower/mid-paced riffs that just crush the life out of anyone unfortunate enough to get trapped underneath them.
The singer’s accented, jagged delivery adds yet another layer of raw harshness to the music. As he grunts and growls his way through the carnage, the musicians hack away like machines.
If you’re in the mood for some underground death metal in a 90s style, then Epidemia have got you covered. Covered in blood.

The exploitation of South American Metal continues with Ecuador throwing their next band out to the international press. Ok so it has been ten years since Epidemia dropped their debut album 'Mutilador De Cuerpos', but they've had a line-up change and two-year hiatus so it's excusable. But they've come back in style with their filthy-rotten second album 'Leprocomio' which compromises of epic blastbeats, chunky riffs, stomach-churning vocals and a raw production sound that epitomizes the lesser equipped underground metal scenes in terms of the quality of equipment and studios available. 'Leprocomio' however stands on it's own two as a decent and respectable slab of gore-rotten Death Metal, whilst it is in the Spanish language this should not deter die-hard Death Metallers from sinking their teeth into this decent effort.

Epidemia are a band from Ecuador that plays a very raw and brutal form of death metal an d this is a review of their 2016 album "Leprocomio" which will be released in May by Satanath Records.
A very dark and heavy sound starts off the album along with some morbid sounding melodies, death metal growls and brutal blast beats and the music is also very heavily rooted in the 90's and the solos and leads also remain true to a pure style of death metal w hile also having their melodic moments.
Throughout the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and while the music has its roots in the old school style they still bring in more of a modern day brutality and the whole album also remains very heavy from beginning to ending of the recording.
Epidemia plays a style of death metal that is very raw and brutal and also mixes both the modern and old school style together, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Spanish and cover terror, corpses and massacre themes.
In my opinion Epidemia are a very great sounding raw and brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Retribucion Homicida" "Agonistes En El Infraumando" and "Existencia Repulsiva".

After a few inactive years Ecuador’s Epidemia have decided to give it another go. This time around the band has returned with a new front man and guitarist. "Leprocomio" is a straight forward assult that goes for the throat and doesn’t let go.
Over 8 tracks and at 35 minutes in lengths the band delivers perfect timed assaults. They have that great little combination of speed and groove nailed much in the vein of New York’s Skinless. They know exactly when to throw in a change of pace. One minute the song will be crazy and just when it’s in danger of going off the rails the band bring the song in and give a little breathing space before starting the pummeling again! They don’t mind throwing in a little melody to add some darkness to the whole sound a track like 'Miseria Intrspectiva' for example. 'Retribucion Homicida' kicks off with a lead drum from Daniel Villareal.
I would have liked a little more distinctiveness and the songs could have been a bit more memorable but on the whole Epidemia have put together a strong solid slice of death metal in the tradition of Cannibal Corpse and is well worth checking out.

Ecuador gives us a raw but vintage-feeling death metal effort. There are definite touches of Suffocation in the start-stop flurries of motion that recur throughout, but their main influences would seem to be more along the lines of Baphomet or Cannibal Corpse.
It was a bit too raw on the guitar end, hissy on the cymbal, tom roll and blastbeat end and too indebted to Suffocation and Cannibal Corpse for my taste – I always considered those bands (especially CC) somewhat lesser on the scale of “genre leaders”, more “likeable also rans” than somebody you’d look to swipe riffs and licks from. But obviously, they have their fans, and some quite vociferous at that – so hey, whatever floats your boat.
Nothing wrong with it either way, and it certainly feels credibly old school
overall, so I’m good.
As with Strangulate, this should appeal to said aficionados of all things
Barnes/Fischer and Mullen.

Out last May 15th 2016 was Leprocomio by Epidemia via Satanath Records and Musica Hibrida.
A death metal act from Ecuador, Leprocomio by Epidemia is a heavy shredded album where the Spanish lyrics are accompanied by guttural vocals and catchy riffs.
Epidemia exists since 2003 and they are well known on the Ecuadorian underground scene. They have opened for heavy bands such as Cannibal Corpse and Monstrosity.

When the boss said he was sending me two South American death metal albums from an underground Russian label to review I won’t lie to you, I did groan a bit. I’d not heard of either band nor had I heard of the label and to be honest I envisioned some third rate sub-Sevared Records slammy bullshit. But, as is often the case according to the lovely Mrs Eve, I was completely wrong. Just like the new release from Evil Reborn (which you may have read my review of on the site recently) this release from Ecuador’s Epidemia is killer.
Despite being in existence since 2003 this is only the second album from the band, the first being 2006’s ‘Mutilador de Cuerpos’ – and yes that would make a great title for a ‘Coffin Joe’ film!
All lyrics are sung in Spanish however, despite my somewhat ….. non-existent grasp of the language (Leprocomio means ‘Leper Colony’… I’d still put my mortgage on the guess that songs like the totally scorching ‘Cadavers Poseidos’ , ‘Retribucion Homicida’ and ‘Necroticismo’ are not emo ballads about unrequited love. No sir!
Musically Epidemia are raw & savage with sound similar to Incantation / Morbid Angel with a drum sound that reminds me of Dying Fetus…. In fact Daniel Villarreal’s drumming is bang on throughout the album. The sleeve art is pure 80’s and kinda Ed Repka esque, this would never be mistaken for anything other than a death metal album and I like that.
All the songs are brutal however the band are not just about heads down blasting, there are plenty of heavy, slower riffs that pound & grind away at you. Adrian Salazar sounds like David Vincent’s pissed off younger brother and his growling fits the savagery of the musicianship 100%.
This is a great underground release that deserves a place in your collection if you like proper death metal.

EPIDEMIA's second album is a very aggressive affair, with massive production that enhances all the power of their relentless Death Metal. The most evident reference, for you to have an idea, is probably CANNIBAL CORPSE... with touches of other really aggressive stuff like VOMITORY or DEICIDE. But they have their particular sound, probably because of the very brutal vocalist that intones those Spanish words as if he were about to coldly flay you alive. The ferocity we have come to expect of South American bands shows, and indeed listening to this album it seems that extreme musical violence is truly the supreme objective of EPIDEMIA. Listen to the merciless onslaught of tracks like 'Cadaveres Poseídos' (possessed corpses) or 'Existencia Repulsiva'... or any one, really. You also get a good idea about what the lyrics are about from titles such as these. The cover artwork doesn't leave you much to wonder about as well, with zombies, corpses, fucked up creatures inside sci-fi glass containers in the middle of decrepit ruins... all with that 90s oil-painting tradition (the Painter software is truly a beautiful thing). If you are looking for the more extreme Death Metal you can find, yet without forfeiting technique and production, you can't do much better than this.

Here we are with another great Death Metal band from a foreign land. This time it is Ecuador’s own EPIDEMIA and their album Leprocomio (out now, Satanath Records). This disc is pretty savage, I have to tell you. There are no intros, or any of those stupid minute-long interludes on this album. This is a record that kicks your teeth in from beginning to end, which is a wonderful thing. The vocals sound like a monster eating bones, and the riffs are heavy as hell. Meanwhile the rhythm section is thick as all get out, and the whole band just kicks you in the head right away.
The title track opens things up and it’s just an all-out melee from beginning to end. Picture twenty guys in a steel cage armed with pipes, baseball bats with nails in them, chains, and whatever else can be used to bash someone’s skull in, okay? Then imagine a horn or whistle sounds and they just go at each other to the death. That’s what you get with this song, and that violent feeling continues with “Retribucion Homocida” and “Miseria Introspectiva”. The slow, deliberate riffage at the start of “Redencion Del Engendro” is merely a prelude to the ass-kicking you’re about to receive.
“Agonistes En El Inframundo” has the chunky-style riffs and headbanging rhythm to chug beers and slam shots to, while “Cadaveres Poseidos” is more bloodthirsty work aiming to split your shit wide open. One of my absolute favorites is next in “Necroticismo”. The pounding this one delivers is akin to one that a heavyweight boxer or UFC fighter rains down upon their opponent’s head en route to a knockout. Closer “Existencia Repulsiva” continues in much the same vein as the other tunes, never letting up on the intensity for a second.
All told Leprocomio is a fucking killer slab of Old School Death Metal and one that warrants repeat listens. There’s not a single bad track to be found. This is a record that sounds like it would be equally at home either in the 90’s in Tampa, FL or in today’s br00tal metal landscape. Make no mistake, EPIDEMIA is the real deal. They give you 35 minutes of all killer, no filler, no bullshit heaviness that will wreck your fucking necks, I guaran-damn-tee it! Pick up your copy today, blast it loud, and go nuts!
STANDOUT TRACKS: “Necroticismo”, “Leprocomio”, “Cadaveres Poseidos”, “Retribucion Homocida”

(HD) 10 Punkte
Wow! This is an excellent album forged in corrosive and destructive death metal genre. Certainly is the first band from Ecuador reviewed here, and I’m really satisfied because of high octane structures, with roots in classic death metal bands from USA, and good doses of brutality in the entire album.
Coming from Quito, Ecuador, these guys composed a really good second full length album, drowned in superlative guitar riffs, complex structures and fast atmospheres. Of course they have good experience and they know what’s about modern death metal sound. The recording sounds clear and direct to the bone, and I liked it because the band delivers bad blood and great songs with Spanish lyrics. This is a band that has obvious references to old names in death metal genre from USA, like Immolation, Canibal Corpse, Suffocation, and they make an appropriate homage to the classic sound, but it seems like they’ve found a personal seal, and that’s something really hard to get nowadays. My total respect for this band, not only because of high caliber production, it’s also for the excellent compositions and musical arrangements in all instruments. This sounds destructive and it’s highly recommended!

I know that I’ve said it before and I will say it again but some band you just know what you get just from the band name. EPIDEMIA has a clear thrash ring to it. And what do I base that on you might ask. I base it on previous experiences with similar band names and on gut feeling. I would not go all the way and call this a full on thrash metal album. Instead I’d settle for calling this deathrash as it is a blatant mix of the two styles. And this is the kind of mix I enjoy. There is both a feeling of Morbif Angel and of Kreator. A combo made in hell.

From the bowels of Ecuador comes death metal outfit Epidemia. The band released their second full length LP, Lepricomio, on Russian extreme metal label Satanath Records back in May of 2016 and has received little exposure. This is unfair, I believe, since Lepricomio is a solidly brutal effort that melts faces upon impact.
Considering the band has been brutalizing audiences for over a decade and has only released two full length albums to date, one can only assume the band suffers from underground band syndrome, which is unsettling from such a promising band. Pulverizing riffs and bone crushing, true metal breakdowns are the meat of Leprocomio.
The more aggressive parts of the album are defined by the cohesive tangibility which induces immediate head banging. The sound is reminscent of bands like Revel in Flesh or even Dismember. Solos on the album are eerily Death inspired, the drums are face melting, and Adrian Salazar’s vocals are a clear and classic low growl. What I found most appealing about this album was the fluidity in the progressions. Changes in progression flowed nicely which made for an enjoyable listening experience.
Stand out tracks on the album were Retribución homicida (that fucking opening riff) and Agonistes en el inframundo. This is a band that deserves much more exposure. Fans of old school, gripping death metal with bone crushing blasts, blistering solos, and breakdowns played the way they were meant to be played, take note. Ecuador’s Epidemia is definitely worth your time.

The second album of this brutal death metal band from Ecuador feels like a punch in the face. No intro, straight on brutality all the way. Although the band has some influences from eighties death metal it's mostly nineties elements that dominate. One can compare this music with the launching of a rocket. It's starts with a bang, one acceleration follows after the other and finally some more mid-paced parts to keep it exciting. Brutality and complexity rule, the riffs are somewhat thrashy and the Spanish vocals are deep and grunting. Think of a combination of Dying Fetus and Suffocation, but in general one level less in quality. Just 35 minutes of sheer brutality and there's nothing wrong with that.

With a lot of good acts out there, it is very hard to focus on all of them. Sometimes small but otherwise good bands drown under the wave of mediocre music for no apparent reason. This is especially bad when one is searching for new music to listen to but all they can find is the same old, same old. Today I want to talk about a band that is coming from a small country in Southamerica call Ecuador (my home), which is EPIDEMIA.
EPIDEMIA is not as well-known band, as many bigger acts in the over-saturated death/hardcore/brutal metal genre in Ecuador (well, I’m talking about myself only), the band was formed in 2003, the Quito’s death metal outfit is back with their second album after ten years from their first Full-length called Mutilador de Cuerpos (2006), now EPIDEMIA is bringing out, Leprocomio which came out on the May 15, 2016 with 8 songs all of them in spanish language and over 35 minutes length.
Leprocomio Pure Ecuadorian Death Metal! The guitar work on Leprocomio is one of the reasons I really liked this work (Juan Carlos Cahuasquí & Roberto Amores), both hold down the songs extremely well and sounds very solid and aggressive, blending the brutality with the background constructed by the bass and drums and not trying to overdone it, while still retaining the technical aspect that defines the genre without sounding harsh or hogging the spotlight.
Singer Adrian Salazar’s voice is easily distinguishable, as his deep growls still manage to convey the words clear. Without been magnificent, his work here is well done for such an extreme genre.
Daniel Villarreal spectacular on drums, very technical and ultra fast to hit and keep the pace of the songs, Daniel Murillo do well also on bass.
Agonistes en el Inframundo, is my favorite track on the record, alternating between hard hitting, face melting death and brutal elements, the song holds an interesting hybrid texture which I enjoyed very much.
I couldn’t say that EPIDEMIA is the best metal group from a south american country, but they have a powerful forward motion and show us that there is a hope for death metal created in a latino country. Rather than just playing over the same tired, classic and old ideas, they take the genre to new lands. They aren’t really doing anything particularly groundbreaking, but they have something to say about a style of music before only allowed to european bands and they successfully did with Leprocomio.
Detail from Epidemia New Album Leprocomio 3 EPIDEMIA: Leprocomio Pure Ecuadorian Death Metal!Overall I really liked the Leprocomio, it is not very long, the length is not a problem of course, as I always prefer to have a short record packed full with good songwriting, intricacy brutality and substance instead of having more songs crammed into it for the sake of it being longer. Of course this work of this ecuadorian death metal act, is not the best in the genre by any means, you can feel how much the sweden school influenced in the creation and composition of this eight brutal songs and even there is a certain catchiness along this work, but they have to do this better to not sound repetitive.
Nevertheless I think every death metal fan will enjoy Leprocomio quite a lot.

Another day, another new gem unearthed by the high quality folks at Satanath Records. This time it is Ecuadorian death metallers Epidemia, whose ‘Leprocomio’ album is a scintillating ride through some of death metal’s greatest and goriest hits. Powerful riffs, brutal vocals and an all round nastiness pervades this half hour of death!
Almost any death metal fan will find something here to enjoy. Be it the groaning Immolation worship of the title track to the ferocious Deicide-isms of ‘Redencion del Engendro’, Epidemia keep you coming back for more. The insistent, Swedeath worship that bleeds from the riffs is excellent, as is the old school vibe that every song has. The opening riff to ‘Agonistes en el Inframundo’ is one of the downright heaviest pieces of business you’ll hear this year, and the grinding, Suffocation groove that accompanies the rest of that track is heartburstingly brilliant.
You need well written, excellently executed death metal with guts, gore and massive riffs? Then Epidemia are for you. ‘Leprocomio’ is one of the most assured death metal records of 2016; one I’ve come back to numerous times for the strength of its songwriting and its powerful riffage. I love this fucking record, and there’s no shame to it!

As the push towards a digital age continues to march forward, the need for relevant art and design remains. Take a gander at Epidermia’s second effort, Leprocomio, and it’s hard to argue that the band nailed their sound with that front piece. You know the general guidelines of what to expect, and that’s not a bad thing – especially considering the very crowded marketplace of today.
Let’s take a closer look – there’s bodies everywhere, so you know that you are dealing with death metal. The coloring and design of it all harkens back to memories of late ‘80s/early ‘90s, so you know this isn’t going to be of the tech-y variety. The band and title font also factor into this as well. Wouldn’t you know that those descriptions really hit key facets of Epidermia’s sound. One might say that this is a bad thing, but it’s easy to counter said argument. No one is going to check this one out without knowing what they are getting into, but there are still a few nice surprises to look into. First off, as the art description fits, you might not expect some of the more melodic leads that you find here (check out “Miseria Introspectiva”). There’s also a nice balance of various influences from the time period, without sounding like a carbon-copy of any of them, with nods towards Cannibal Corpse, Sepultura, Sodom, Immolation, and Suffocation. There’s more to it than that, but we’ll leave a small bit of mystery for when one clicks the play button. Just know that Epidermia are relentless in their approach, but keenly aware that 35 minutes of blasting isn’t going to do anyone any favors.
South American death metal that can wield both brutality and subtle hues of melody, Leprocomio is a force to be reckoned with. It may have taken the band a rather significant amount of time to get around to this sophomore effort, but there is no slumping in sight.
