The German city of Landshut has a gothic church, named the Martinskirche (church of Saint Martin). Its tower measures 130.6 meters, making it the world's tallest brick tower. Yet, the city also made sure they can destroy the tower immediately when needed. For that purpose, they created Nexus Clandestine, a brutal four-man driven steamroller of sludge and blackened doom.
'Church Of The Poison Mind' is loaded with thick, massive riffs and solid drums. Vocals sound something between hardcore and death metal, making the whole even more crushing than it already is. The songs are slow, dragging themselves (and everything in their path) over a muddy road of misantropy, social disgust and other discomforts.
Fans of bands like AmenRa, Celeste, Cult Of Luna or even Godflesh might want to check this out. I don't think they will be disappointed. This is very strong sludge metal, here and there gaining some blackened influences or dreamy instrumental passages. My favorite songs are title track 'Church Of The Poison Mind' and the sick 'The Purge'.

Nexus Clandestine are a band from Germany that plays a mixture of sludge, doom and post metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "Church Of the Poison Mind" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Productions and Rebirth The Metal Productions.
Avant garde sounds start off the album along with some atmospheric elements which leads up to a more heavy sludge metal direction which also uses a great amount of melodic sounding guitar leads and after awhile death metal growls make their presence known on the recording along with some rough yet melodic vocals.
Elements of post metal can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the music also brings in the energy of punk at times along with some of the riffs also bringing in dark sounding melodies and all of the musical instruments on the recording have a very powerful sound to them and as the album progresses cello's are used more and spoken word parts can also be heard in certain sections of the recording while some songs also bring in a small amount of clean playing. and elements of traditional doom metal can be heard in some of the melodic riffing and all of the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced musical direction.
Nexus Clandestine plays a musical style that is mostly rooted in sludge and doom metal and takes the heaviness of death metal and the experimental yet melodic nature of post metal to create a sound of their own, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark themes.
In my opinion Nexus Clandestine are a very great sounding mixture of doom, sludge and post metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Descent" "Church Of The Poison Mind" and "The Coordinates Of Resurrection".

What are the chances of getting through this review without mentioning a certain UK pop group from the early eighties? Let's see shall we...
Germany's Nexus Clandestine, formed in the early part of 2013, took just shy of two years to produce this, their debut album, released towards the tail end of 2014. Straddling a fierce beast that is more or less equal parts Godflesh and Neurosis, 'Church of the Poison Mind' is forceful enough to have one sit up and take notice, and at the same time has a decent enough dynamic running throughout to remain interesting for the rest of its duration.
So, to begin with, the early noises and guitars percolating through the speakers appear to herald something far more Industrial in form than the album actually is, and it's an influence that never completely goes away. The album is all the better off for it. Certain guitar textures and particularly the bass sound would probably feel quite at home in a far more Industrial setting, as they are on the penultimate track 'Humain/Miasma', being as it is, an Industrial sounding red-herring amongst the predominantly sludgy/post- style Doom.
Truth be told, Nexus Clandestine's identity is to be found somewhere in amongst a fair few influences and genres, and whilst throwing too many disparate ideas into the pot can at times lead to a dismal descent into nowhere in particular the band do at least manage to just about stamp their own peculiar personality into the music.
One band who springs to mind by way of comparison is fellow Europeans Obake, mainly because both bands are striking a strident post-millenial pose. Fairly simple down tuned riffage and bass lines combine here with hardcore vocals, a wispy progressive edge and a sludge element that keeps Nexus Clandestine firmly in the Post Metal camp. Which is why I like it. Where they excel is both when they're getting down and dirty with the aforementioned low end moshy bits, as on 'Corrosive', and also on the lengthier title track with its softer, drawn out vibes which are far more Neurosis in nature. It also boasts a deft guitar solo towards the end, but blink and you'd miss it.
Its all pretty good, and the only issue I have with it is that at any given time I really just wanted to rush off and put 'Songs of Love and Hate' or 'Times of Grace' on. At least this is what I was thinking. That is until midway through 'The Purge' where things get decidedly more interesting. The hardcore vocals give way to some gravelly, yet cleaner, harmonies as the track winds itself up in a far more emotive way than anything preceding it.
Following that with the instrumental 'The Colossus' which ebbs and flows beautifully in and out of those textured soundscapes and heavier yet melodic passages, Nexus Clandestine then knock you on the head with album closer 'The Coordinates of Resurrection' which is a glorious fusion of all the very best parts of their earlier endeavours. The first half of the album is good but its only really a warm up to the stellar qualities of the rest of it. 'Church of the Poison Mind' might not be terribly ground breaking, but it's a bloody good listen.

Очередной добротный импортный продукт от Satanath Records. На этот раз — такое незаурядное явление, как sludge/doom/death metal формация из Германии NEXUS CLANDESTINE. Сразу заявлю, что это дебютник группы. НО. Есть одно — два «но», которые будут представлены чуть попозже. Самое время сказать, что это совместный релиз с немецкой же конторой Rebirth The Metal Productions. Те конечно же исследовали немецкий рынок и выставили мощный продукт. В официальные дистрибьюторы этого компакта выстроились в очередь GrimmDistribution (Белоруссия), NitroAtmosfericum Records (Россия), More Hate Productions (Россия), Darknagar Records (Россия), Abnormality Musick Distribution (Германия). И не зря так, думается.
Диск NEXUS CLANDESTINE оформлен в мрачном стиле, таком, каком мало что выпускается, и потому уже является определенным ударом в лицо общественности. Что ж, ей не впервой. Да и мы, собственно, знаем, что за мрачняком скрывается зачастую такой депрессив, что только туши свет, суши весла. А здесь так оно и есть. Четверка музыкантов предлагает образчик атмосферы такого беспросветного мелодраматического наполнения, что зачастую слушатель просто цепенеет и удачно отпрашивается с работы дослушать диск Church Of The Poison Mind.
Первое НО. Да, это первая работа коллектива, но многие музыканты NEXUS CLANDESTINE уже кое-где поиграли и имеют собственное понятие о неврозах и патологиях слушательского контингента. Вот небольшой список команд, где поучаствовали члены формации — Black Horizons, Festering Saliva, Obscura, Gorthaur’s Wrath (live), Tamisra (live), Breed of Scorn, Urwaerk, Coltan Leech.
Второе НО. Буквально через минут 10 слушатель понимает, что он на этот сугроб напоролся не зря, ибо барахтаясь в нем, он усваивает ряд истин, среди которых главенствует мысль о глобальной атмосферности этого альбома. Хватайте диск NEXUS CLANDESTINE, берите аппаратуру среднего и повыше класса — устраивайте сладж-думовый хэппенинг, где с вами пребудет не только сила и красота. Это полностью новый стратегически несчастливый, неблистающий НОВЫЙ МИР. Зато он закрыт от посторонних.
Два раза я уже употребил слово «атмосфера», теперь три. Это стоит того. Композер NEXUS CLANDESTINE изобретает струнный пассаж за пассажем добирая кирпичей для постройки МЕГА-стены, огораживающей его мир от мира человеческого. Замечу что поначалу слушатель немало ошарашен стилистикой альбома, ибо это странный и провоцирующий сладж-дэт-дум. Но через некоторое время меломану уже не до стилей и категоризаций, настолько захватывающа музыкальная история, рассказанная группой.
Мощен и широк частотный диапазон музматериала, от субзеро низов, до верхотуры, где пропадают перкуссионные искры. И потому не стоит размениваться на убогие мпз. Именно гитарная тракторная атака будет прорывать низа на этом диске и доводить неискушенную публику до состояния рвоты. Как и полагается в стилистике, струнный риффаж в компо не такой сложный, но зато весьма «ввинчивающий», да и не будем скрывать, экстремально брутальный. Мне кажется, именно ввиду первого параметра, композер NEXUS CLANDESTINE прибегнул к «вынужденному» )) разнообразному пост-метальному звуковому строительству. Но сначала, конечно, был его величество сладж — размолоченный и тормозной, а потом пободрее, адреналиновый и угрожающий.
В группе два вокалиста, которые нередко устраивают дуэль на своих харкоровых голосах, низких, сиплых, оголтелых, пропащих, совсем пропащих. И такая перекличка, вроде бы бессмысленная по первоначалу, вдруг обретает свое значение, свои настоящие объем и глубину. Тут же где-то в кустах залегает солирующая гитара, параллельно вокалам создающая некую третью пушечную силу NEXUS CLANDESTINE, которая простреливает дополнительные мост в подсознание слушателя.
Большая загадка этого диска — это трак одноименный с названием альбома. Где исполнители резво настраивают ракету на Марс и убывают в указанном направлении. Шикарная мрачная фентезийная компо почти на 7 минут описывающая невиданные мелодические пустыни, холмы и кратеры. Кстати, это самая длинная компо на диске, музыканты не злоупотребляют вниманием меломана, хотя и наработали транквилизирующего материала почти на 40 минут.
Дополню, что в компо Human Miasma вокалисты бросают свои хардкор замашки и выступают в низком регистре, подходящем для индастриал-сладж (!) идеи именно этой компо. Весьма неожиданно. И жаль, что «хорошо, но мало»
Aquí está el debut de los alemanes Nexus Clandestine, cuarteto conformado por Simon en bajo, Jonas Baumgartl en batería, Hank en voz y guitarra, y Fabs en la otra viola.
Es interesante este disco por varias razones, y la principal es por la amalgama de influencias que es posible encontrar en el mismo. Por un lado se perciben cosas de Cathedral, en otros de Neurosis, mas un poco de Godflesh, con gran predominancia de riffs arrastrados y épicos, lentos y pesados cual mamut.
La receta es conocida por todos, pero la banda sale airosa del trámite, dando como producto final un correcto trabajo, con las falencias propias de un debut, pero en general es un buen disco de sludge / doom metal, standard pero muy bien ejecutado. Las ideas están, el potencial y las aptitudes instrumentales sobran, tienen el apoyo de un sello serio, así que con un poco más de cuidado en detalles de producción y un toque más de originalidad, el camino para Nexus Clandestine estará abonado de éxitos.
