Any black metal band that dashes out their black metal without hesitation and does it fast and loud is normally a good one. That’s not always the case or true, I will admit, but it holds firm in the case of Ancient Spheres’ new album “In Conspiracy with the Night”. After the ominous instrumental intro track that really pulls you in, Ancient Spheres wastes no time as the very next track begins with a guttural scream and guitars that sound like they came off of a black metal album from the fucking 80s and hold up like them, too. The drums hold a good level of intensity in all 15 tracks (4 of which are bonus ones) which really help each one keep a good fast pace except in some instances when everything is slowed down and meant to unsettle you to only immediately blast you with some more raw black metal. The only thing that I didn’t really enjoy was the length of the songs because 12 of them stretch over 5 minutes long and it doesn’t really work for me because the tracks feel stretched out a bit too much for me. It takes away just a little bit of quality to me. But “In Conspiracy with the Night” is a very nice and intense black metal album that I would definitely suggest for any fan of the genre as Ancient Spheres really have a grasp on what this genre is supposed to sound like and know how to pull it off. This is Ancient Spheres’ fourth album to date and you can bet your ass I’m gonna go check out the other three because I am very interested in seeing how well this band has done in making a name for themselves.

MORE HATE Productions together with SATANATH Records presents the second album by the black metal band from Costa Rica. While listening to this album you can feel yourself walking through the dark forest in the soupy dank night full of such emotions like fear, hate and slakeless vengeance. The main idea of the album is the development of spiritual identity, the denial of imposed religious dogmas and concepts. The band plays high quality technical black metal with a large number of thrash metal inserts performed and recorded in an old school manner of late 80s – early 90s. The music of ANCIENT SPHERES is influenced by another Latin American band INQUISITION. The release includes 4 re-recorded tracks from the early days of the band with new vocal lines. Впечатление, возникающее при прослушивании этого альбома сродни путешествию человека сквозь тьму леса в сырую и промозглую ночь, обуреваемого такими эмоциями как страх, ненависть, месть. Основная идея альбома это тема развития духовной индивидуальности человека, отрицание навязываемых религиозных догматов и воззрений. Группа представляет слушателю качественный образец техничного black metal, с значительной долей трэшевых ходов, исполненный и записанный в old school манере, в духе групп конца 80-х - начала 90-х годов. В музыке Ancient Spheres прослеживается влияние другой южноамериканской группы INQUISITION. Издание дополнено 4 трэками более ранних песен коллектива, которые специально для этого были перезаписаны с новыми вокальными партиями. Общее время звучания диска составляет 77 минут.

Ancient Spheres are a band from Costa Rica that plays a very raw and melodic form of black metal and this is a review of their 2015 album "In Conspiracy With The Night" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records and More Hate Productions.
Nighttime and nature sounds start off the album along with some tribal and shamanistic elements being utilized in the background and after the intro the music goes into more of a raw and melodic black metal direction along with some grim screams and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them.
Blast beats can be heard quite a bit throughout the recording and the music is very heavily rooted in the 90's and the solos and leads also seem to be very heavily influenced by the melodic Swedish black metal style and some of the riffs also bring in a touch of thrash at times a and the also mix the Native American sounds in with the heavier parts.
At times the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and as the album progresses a brief use of death metal growls can be heard and on the bonus tracks spoken word parts and chanting are brought into the music and they also give the songs more of a ritualistic feeling and on song also brings in a few seconds of war samples.
Ancient Spheres plays a style of black metal that is very raw, melodic and old school sounding while also mixing in the culture of their home country which also makes the music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very raw and heavy while the lyrics cover the ancient tribes of Costa Rica such as Bribris, Darkness and Obscurtanism themes.
In my opinion Ancient Spheres are a very great sounding fast, raw and melodic black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Invoking Darkness" "Emperors Of The Night" "My Ancient Spirits" and "Serkes".

Not long ago I introduced a few bands from Costa Rica, namely Corpse Garden and Alastor Sanguinary Embryo. Now, I have no idea how many extreme metal bands hail from that country, but until now I have absolutely no complaining about their scene. Black metal, death metal and many other brutal genres seem to be as popular there as in our old continent. So get ready for another blackened ride on the Costa Rican rollercoaster of extreme music, this time with Ancient Spheres.
The bandname comes from the mysterious spheres found in Costa Rica. A number of stone balls on the beach have been occupying the minds of scientists and archeologists for years. Uptil now, nobody knows who made these or why. However, many people do sense a touch of magic surrounding the spheres. That alone is perfectly suited to inspire artists, the black metal act I'm reviewing being one of them.
Although Ancient Spheres is a relatively young band, founded in 2010, they have been going through a rough history already. Numerous line-up changes, problems with members and other parties have shaped the band but they stubbornly continue to walk their bleak and aggressive path. Several ep's and albums have already been recorded previously. The now trio has been touring a lot throughout Middle and South America and are able to count on a solid following.
With good reason too, to be honest. This album shows a well-attuned band of experienced musicians who know a thing or two about turning true evil in songs. The style reminds me a lot of the old school wave in Europe, including bands like Emperor, Immortal, Mayhem, Marduk and so on. The riffs are great, the blast beats pierce your eardrums and the vocalist seem to come straight from hell, screaming fiercely. Those are ingredients for a decent black metal album and 'In Conspiracy With The Night' is just that, excellent even.
In eleven gritty and eerie tracks, including an intro, the albums rolls on in fierce tempo and with cold vengeance. When the eleven songs are finally over, there's four more songs to torture the last bit of sanity that's left in you. The remastered songs, with either alternative lyrics or re-recorded vocals fit perfectly well with their current style and line-up. The whole clocks of at seventy-seven minutes, which is a long ride into the dark forest of Costa Rica, but it's an interesting ride nevertheless.

При первом взгляде на обложку этого диска мне сослепу показалось, что это новый альбом расчудесных бельгийцев из Ancient Rites, которые так радовали меня своими классическими работами. Логотип действительно имеет нечто общее – логотип, но не музыка. Если и сравнивать рецензируемый ныне коллектив Ancient Spheres с кем-то, то лучше с норвежцами из Ancient и их культовым “Into The Halls Of Eternity” (1999). Объёмный, “ухающий” звук (вот уж действительно 3D в том, что касается саунда!), скрим, словно ножом царапающий по стеклу + очень красивые и стильные буклет и обложка.
Ancient Spheres – группа из Коста Рики (Центральная Америка), была организована в конце 2010 года, в 2012 году выпустила дебютный EP, в 2013 – полноформатный альбом, а в августе 2015 года был реализован второй полнометражный релиз, который получил название “In Conspiracy With The Night”.
Очень порадовала и приятно удивила общая концептуальность группы и замечательная поэтичная лирика. Даже не открывая буклет с текстами, можно многое воспринять на слух:

Именно такой восторженности и патетичности сейчас так не хватает и блэк-металлу, и металлу в целом. В 80-х даже Slayer и Hellhammer звучали как романтические оды Тьме (не говоря уже о Кинге Даймонде, Bathory и Celtic Frost), а сейчас и кредлы, и боргиры то и дело изменяют тонким материям в пользу прагматике и ужасам мира сего.
“В заговоре с Ночью” называется альбом Ancient Spheres, и действительно во всех треках так или иначе ощущается влияние романтичной тёмной поэтики (чуть ли не в стиле Джона Мильтона и его культовейшего “Потерянного рая”). Чего стоят даже названия песен: “Enchantment Of The Night”, “A Tale Told Two Thousand Times”, “The Old Forest”, “In Solitude I Die”. Великолепно!
Помимо 11 альбомных треков на диске представлены четыре ранних ремастированных композиции, две из которых получили новую лирику, а в двух других был перезаписан вокал.
“In Conspiracy With The Night” звучит очень свежо, мощно и органично. Уже сейчас альбом явно стоит вне времени и пространства, и я совершенно уверен, что его будут слушать и переиздавать и 20, и 40 лет спустя. Костариканцы нашли свой путь и триумфально движутся по нему навстречу чёрным радостям и злым чудесам, которыми потом готовы делиться и со своими слушателями. Ищущий да обрящет. Стучащему да отворят. Добро пожаловать в мир тёмной мистики и безжалостных ритуалов древних зимних лесов.

The night is the time of the day that I like the best. That is the time when you can be least visible. The time when you can be anonymous. You don’t have to meet anybody. You just go about doing your business and minding your own thing. This is the kind of black metal I could easily overdose on. Primitive and to the point. The no shit kinda stuff that brings back memories of an era when everything was easier to define. You’ll never mistake this for anything but a total black metal frenzy.

The connection in between Costa Rica and the Russian label Satanath Records is quite important; cf. releases by bands like Alastor Sanguinary Embryo, Corpse Garden or Inhuman (all of them have been, or soon will be reviewed for one or another release, so keep attentive!). Another symbiosis of both parties, the label and the country, is called In Conspiracy With The Night, the second full length by Cartago-based trio Ancient sphereS (with, by the way, members that are involved with Alastor Sanguinary Embryo as well, amongst several other great acts [*])

Anyway, this album was done (recording, production, engineering, mix and mastering) at Adolfo Bejarano’s home studio, the band’s guitar player (the other members are bass player / vocalist Yeudiel Chacón and drummer Raymondsz), and the CD-edition comes with four tracks from the Under The Spell Of The Spheres EP, which have been released independently too in mean time. The result clocks nearly eighty (!) minutes, including the bonus…
After suite a cool intro (Enchantment Of The Night), Ancient sphereS bring quite energetic, up-tempo Black Metal from the old schooled stamp, being both rhythmic and pounding in performance and sound. And the latter, FYI, is quite impressing too, for sounding like the most expensive low-budget production I’ve heard in years. Indeed…
There is not really some renewing aspect, and in general the whole is rooted within a certain Nineties-tradition, yet still maintaining a modernised, 21st-century’s based attitude, especially when referring to the technically skilled riffs, the mechanical rhythms and the Post-y performance / attitude; and then I didn’t even focus on the moody sound production, being quite industrialised at the one hand, yet profoundly old schooled too when focusing on some specific aspects (like the vocals or the bass lines).
This band takes its credits from the Scandinavian trend especially, though the Polish, Belgian, French and Greek scene might come to mind as well. There is a certain universal timelessness, yet still the somewhat forced and violent back-structures remain the main basic which the whole concept is built on. Unfortunately I think the whole experience misses transpiration and variation, despite the convinced evidence of power and craftsmanship. And this is my greatest frustration: I actually cannot dislike this band’s performance, for it is actually quite cool; but there is not that much memorable, nothing that really catches or surprises, and that for sure is a pity. The band has its potentials, but it does not totally come to its rights. Disappointing it is for quite a big part…

Costa Rica è anche sinonimo di freddo black metal, ed è questo il caso dei qui presenti Ancient Spheres. nati nel 2010 ed autori di due ep e due full-length, di cui l'ultimo è il qui presente e oggetto di esame "In Conspiracy with the Night". Iniziamo col dire che la label russa Satanath Records si sta rivelando come label di riferimento per l'underground estremo, in special modo black metal, producendo tantissime band, e finora posso dire che ciò che ho recensito non è mai sceso sotto la sufficienza, fino a toccare talvolta ottimi livelli.
Questo album prosegue e conferma questa linea, proponendo un black metal gelido e maligno, che mescola bene l'anima più brutale con quella più leggermente melodica della formazione. I tempi sono spesso delle cavalcate in doppia cassa dove si staglia la voce di Yeudiel Chacón, che mi ha ricordato quella del mai troppo compianto Jon Nödtveidt, col suo growl un po' strozzato ma d'impatto, compreso anche l'eco sulla equalizzazione della voce, molto in stile Dissection. Le similitudini con questa band potrebbero anche estendersi in un certo senso alla musica, in quanto il black metal si mescola molte volte con l'heavy metal, il thrash e il death melodico. Un esempio lampante di quanto sto dicendo lo potete riscontrare nella dissectioniana "Ethereal", ma anche in altre canzoni.
A volte la band prende respiro e molla un po' il piede dell'acceleratore ("Emperors of the Night"), con risultati gradevoli, ma a mio avviso la formazione è più efficace quando picchia duro e veloce, come avviene d'altronde quasi sempre, e meritano menzione pezzi riusciti e sinistri come "Invoking Darkness" o "Cold and Dead Stone" dove, in quest'ultima, la band arricchisce la violenza con begli arpeggi dissonanti e oscuri.
Praticamente questa band ha un unico, importante difetto che gli trancia un po' le gambe, e questo si chiama batteria. Pur figurando in line-up un certo Raymondsz dietro le pelli, al mio orecchio certe parti suonano un po' troppo macchinose e artificiali, quindi può essere accaduto che in sede di produzione la batteria sia stata penalizzata, oppure che abbiano usato una batteria programmata/campionata usando dei suoni non all'altezza della situazione.
Se la band saprà sopperire a questo difetto potrà dire cose decisamente migliori in futuro, anche se si hanno già elementi piuttosto discreti da cui partire. Promossi ma da rivedere con curiosità!

Het eerste wat door m'n hoofd schiet als ik 'In Conspiracy With The Night' opzet is ...from the cold and icy (hot and damp) forests (jungles) of the North (South) hails Ancient Spheres... - ik geef de schuld aan het "evil intro" dat tussen de ijzig koude (bloedhete) jungle / moeras geluiden onder andere het gekwaak van kikkers en jungle drums heeft... om daarna alsnog over te gaan in een wat matige kopie van Noorse medio jaren negentig black. Muzikaal zit het allemaal vrij simpel in elkaar; de toch al niet bijster spannende riffs worden voornamelijk in voorspelbare patronen herhaald, met niet al te gevarieerde doortimmerende drums en rap ronkende bas eronder. Hier en daar wordt voor de zekerheid nog even een veilig cliché uit de kast getrokken. De productie met net te zacht staande drums, een nogal opdringerig knorrende bas, een wat te clean en wat iel gitaargeluid (dat laatste niet per se door de productie) scoort ook geen punten. De vocalen zijn op zich goed te doen. Al met al dus niet best, maar daar komt nog eens bij dat de nummers eenvoudigweg te lang zijn om te blijven boeien. Nee, dat zeg ik verkeerd, het is niet de lengte van de nummers an sich, het is wat Ancient Spheres er mee weet te doen. Of nog beter: niet mee weet te doen. Dertien in een dozijn rammel black... Als bonus materiaal krijgen we er naast de elf reguliere album tracks nog vier tracks bij, twee van de 'Cold Winds From The North... Stacked In The Deepest Woodlands' (EP, 2012) en twee van 'Tales Of Suwoh' (2013), alle vier met een iets gewijzigde opname. De speelduur bereikt daarmee de dramatische lengte van een ruim uur en een kwartier. Succes.

Ancient Spheres sind ein noch recht Junges Trio aus Costa Rica, bei denen vor allem die Schlagzeuger recht oft ersetzt werden. 4 an der Zahl saßen in den 5 Jahren Bandgeschichte bereits hinter den Trommeln. Mit “In Conspiracy with the Night” erschien 2015 das zweite Album, das mit 11 regulären Songs und 4 Bonusstücken auf gut 80 Minuten kommt.
Costa Rica liegt bekanntlich in Mittelamerika und so startet das Album mit Dschungelgeräuschen und Trommeln, bevor der Black Metal Einzug hält. Dieser klingt nicht nach dem kalten und rauen Skandinavien, sondern behält durch eine starke Thrash-Schlagseite und oft eingestreute helle und warme Melodien einen gewissen tropischen Charme. Es klingt also weniger nach norwegischer Tundra, dafür mehr nach brasilianischem Dschungel bei Nacht und Nebel. Wild, stürmisch und vor allem lebendig klingen die Riffs über die sich die kaum kratzigen, sondern eher “klaren (?)” und kraftvollen Screams legen. Das ganze mit einem Sound, der nicht zu poliert, aber auch nicht zu ruppig ist. Als Bonus gibt es am Ende des Machwerks noch 4 ältere Songs in neuem Gewand dazu und dann ist der Reigen zu Ende.
Ancient Spheres zeigen in gut 80 Minuten wie man in Mittelamerika Black Metal zelebriert. Und das mit starken Riffs und genauso starken Songs, die mich stark an Sekhmet erinnern….aber eigentlich nicht viel mit besagter Band zu tun haben…so ist das bei mir.

Мрачнейшее сотрудничество More Hate и Satanath Records дает свои новые и новые черные плоды. В этот темный раз — коста-риканская команда, которая увлекается недвусмысленным форест блаком. О чем напоминает обложка этого чертоспасаемого компакта. Кстати, в суровой дискографии ANCIENT SPHERES это уже второй диск,полноформат, а до них и после были еще изданы две эпишки. Группа активно гастролирует по стране и близлежащим государствам: Панаме и Мексике, впрочем добираясь иногда и до Европы, на постоянной основе участвует в региональных и других металлических фестивалях.
Раскрою еще один секрет этого издания. Сюда дописаны еще 4 трака с первой эпишки и потому тотальное время этого диска — 77 минут. Полный компакт реально коста-риканского лесного блака, исполненного с искренним центрально-американским задором и тягой к нездоровому мистицизму, которая так свойственна этим местам со стародавних времен. Уж сколько крови здесь пролито, никому не сосчитать.
Для полного эффекта надо бы перечислить команды, в которых играют (ли) музыканты. А это список немалый. Astrozombies, The Coven (Cri), Genital Desmembration, ex-Belial Horde, Paganus Doctrina, Anunnaki’s Presences, Baalberith, Deimus, Draconian Tears, Evola Project, ex-Alastor Sanguinary Embryo, ex-Everlasting Brutality, ex-Fornost. Многие обратили внимание в этом угольном перечне на Alastor Sanguinary Embryo. Об этой группе, которая выходила со своим компактом на More Hate и Satanath Records, мы уже писали и отзыв был, прямо скажем, весьма положительным. Музыка сильнейшая. Ищите в каталогах контор. Обложка там была шикарная, как сейчас помню. Но чу, вернемся к ANCIENT SPHERES.
А эта формация культивирует свой тропический форест, совершенно в стилистике оного, который произрастает, например, гораздо севернее. Группа не решается очаровать нас птичьим шумом и гамом экваториального леса, так сдержанно применяет кое-какие сэмплы, скорее отдавая дань стилю. Главное здесь давление и атмосфера, как вы прекрасно знаете. Давление ANCIENT SPHERES создается гитарным риффингом, настойчивым, упорным, сверлящим, но только в тональности пониже, гипнотизирующим, беспрестанным как центрально-американский ветер который несет черные мысли из Тихого океана в Атлантический и наоборот.
Гитарный мастер Adolfo Bejarano из тех людей, которые постигают истины надолго, держатся их истово и прочно, что так отражается на их манере игры на вверенном инструменте. Между прочим, в первой трети диска он внезапно в некоторых местах начинает менять структуру именно форестового гитарного экзерциса ANCIENT SPHERES, переходя к мрачным, резким, нетолерантным эскападам (см. последний абзац отклика), разрушая идиллию чернометаллического леса. А в целом, это конечно, бережно сконструированный, цельно выращенный, сплошной, обвитый лианами, темный массив.
Yeudiel Chacon — вокалист, он же басист, работает на два вокала — блаковый скрим и искаженный низкий гроул, немало оригинальный в своем воплощении. В обоих аватарах — он холодный, надменный и «надмирный», цинично презирающий чел’овеческое стадо. При всей морозности (они-то там и слова такого не знают )) ) он однако такого свойства (думаю, целенаправленно определенного композером), что лезет во все мелодические «потайные места» ANCIENT SPHERES, — он всепроникающий, вездесущий, типа лесного демона, который контролирует свою территорию — по латински genius loki.
Да, естественно, время диска работает на музыкальную идею автора, его хватит на воплощение и раскрытие всех мистических замыслов, которые только были задуманы мрачными искушенными коста-риканскими металлистами. А уж эзотерического и таинственного (в музыкальной и лирической форме) на этом диске хватает. Начиная с общего настроя музпроизведения, применением массовых звуковых фишек, созданием ДУХА компакта, взывающего к полевым энергетическим хозяевам коста-риканского леса, ну и кончая тем же названием. ANCIENT SPHERES – кстати, это коста-риканские таинственные сферы, высеченные из гранодиорита, (скалистой породой, которая условно располагается между гранитом и диоритом) некоторые из них весом до 16 тонн, другие поменьше. Штука в том, что многие их них представляют собой практически идеальные сферы, назначение которых неизвестно. Разве что гиганты в шарики играли)). Факт, что обработка обыкновенными инструментами, знакомыми населению доколумбовой Америки обошлась бы значительными трудовыми ресурсами. НО шаров многие десятки, а реальный интерес в этом затратном деле не виден от слова «вообще».
Кстати, дописка из эпишки ANCIENT SPHERES, оказывается ценным бонусом, исходя из того, что эти траки представляют собой атмосферный блак, нервный, резкий, к тому же еще переходящий в агрессивный и острозаточенный — в риффовой атаке и драммеровом наступлении. Эти четыре трака — ценный вклад в этот диск, ибо обозначают другую, более экстремальную грань ANCIENT SPHERES, обогащают понимание музыкальной одержимости этой коста-риканской блак-металлической группировки.

Dél-Amerika és Közép-Amerika egy fölöttébb érdekes szeglete a világnak. Elszigeteltségük szinte mindenben megjelenik, legyen az politika, viselkedésforma vagy akár a zene. Magyarországra évtizedes késéssel érkeznek meg a zenei műfajok. A latin amerikai régiónál viszont erős a gyanúm, hogy külön fejlődési útvonal fut párhuzamosan az európai vagy az észak-amerikai vonulat mellett. Az Ancients Spheres ezen lemeze, mely egyébként a második nagylemezük pont ezt az érzést erősíti bennem.
A Satanath javarészt más kiadókkal közösködve nyomja ki a CDit, ez is ilyen, a szintén orosz More Hate Productionssal karöltve gondozzák.
Első körben mellbevágó, hogy az intro sokkal hangosabb, mint maga a zenei része a korongnak. Második körben a megszólalás is vészesen mellbevágó. Eonok csapnak össze a fejünk felett, hiszen a gitár hangzása kimondottan a 80-as évek vékony, erőtlen, de mégis hangulatos világát idézi, miközben a dob nagyon erősen gépnek gyanítható. De abból a fajtából, amit meg sem próbáltak humanizálni. Az In Conspiracy With The Night leginkább erős oldala az ének. Yeudiel Chacón basszer koptatja a torkát, és figyeremre méltó, hogy tökéletesen jól érteni azt, amit mond. Ez mondjuk károgásnál mindig is jobban megvalósítható, mint a hörgésnél, lévén, hogy ilyetén képezve a hangot az ember használ magánhangzókat.
Tehát volt egy intrónk, aztán jött két black dara, és a negyedik tételben (Ethereal) meglepetések is érnek minket. Van először is egy belassulás a közepén, aztán a kivezetőben tűnnek fel érdekes dallamok. A The Signban több soron át összejátszó gitármegoldások örvénylenek, rém ötletes. És valami szirénaszerű háttérből riogató hang is átüt, amitől esetleg magunk mögé nézhetünk.
Nem láttam a borítón feltűntetve vendégénekest, ezért meglepődtem rendesen a My Ancient Spiritsben megszólaló mély gyomros hörgésen. A The Old Forestben a gitár Rune Eriksen stílusát idézi azokkal a bontott akkordokkal. Aztán hangulatos színfolt a harang a Cold and Dead Stoneban. Akár klisé, akár nem, hatásos. Zárásként pedig a In Solitude I Dienak nagyon nagy lökete van.
A keverés az olyan, amilyen, nem igazán vágható le, hogy direkt ilyen vagy a hozzá nem értés eredménye. Black metalban mondjuk ez lehet, hogy nem is lényeges körülmény. Pár dal után az agy ráhangolódik, viszont a felénél túl a fül bele is fárad rendesen. Az utolsó négy szerzemény a korábbi kiadványokon már szereplő dalok remaszterizált verziója. Bár rock/metal zenei koncertek már régóta nem érdekelnek, mégis kíváncsi lennék, mit tud a csapat élőben, mert az az érzésem, hogy itt a lényeg épp a hangzás miatt veszik el.
Hossza miatt sosem szoktam egy lemezt bántani, ezt most sem teszem, viszont a trv vonalas rajongók lehet, hogy ledöbbennek az egy óra 17 percen (igaz, ez már a bónuszokkal). Ez tulajdonképpen két lemez hossza ebben a műfajban. Összesítve azt mondanám, hogy ez egy olyan black metal lemez, ami nem a részletekben veszik el, igazából ugyanaz megy nagyon bő egy órában. A fekete fém egyik fő erősségének számító gitár dallamvonulatot erőltetik tremolózva. A minden plusz eszközt nélkülöző hozzáállás miatt a pontszámnál meg kell tegyek egy vaskos vágást, arról nem is beszélve, hogy ez a dolog így ebben a formában egy kicsit unalmas is. Annak, aminek készült kiváló, a klasszikus old school blackhoz szokott fülnek bőven nyújthat az Ancient Spheres szórakozást, a fiatalabb korosztály számára viszont egy kicsit zavarba ejtő lehet az összkép.

This is so awesome to have a black metal band, Ancient Spheres, who hail from Costa Rica, as it shows extreme styles of metal and anti-Christian extremism is spreading on a global scale. This black metal wave if imminent destruction is even invading South and Central Americas, and this is brilliant.
Ancient Spheres’ style of black metal is very reminiscent of the early nineties black metal scene, and shows how raw and bestial their razor sharp riffing can get with the strangulated, raspy vocals. “In Conspiracy With The Night” defines who Ancient Spheres is a as band, as their music is raw, almost very primitive in delivery, and strange in a way due to the unholy dark possessed musical elements unleashed on this 15-track beast.
This trio feature within their skilled talents interesting riff assaults, religion-hating throat abuse, and grey lyrics of a world dying in total misery due to the motherfucking god and religion-preaching faggots imposing their beliefs on the innocent. You can surely feel the frustration and angst within this band’s overall blackened energy and negative vibes, which you’ll be shrouded in.
This release features 11 new songs and four remastered bonus tracks in the form of “Lord Of The Morbid Ritual”, “Chaos Compass” (Alternative lyrics) and “Serkes”, “Sands Of Oblivion” (Voice re-recorded). “Sands Of Oblivion” is such a brutally, evil-sounding track, it is by far one of the more heavy songs on this album. The heavy as fuck, raging guitars hit you in the head, than decapitate you above the shoulders. Ancient Spheres are much, much dark, heavy and anti-religious, as can be seen from their pagan lyrics as well as self-sacrifice in the name of death.
Ancient Spheres is one of those types of black metal bands you want to listen to while you’re slicing your wrists open and letting blood run freely until you achieve extreme pleasure from this sickening self act of mutilation.
Despite the production not being that strong and clear along with the thin-sounding drums, “In Conspiracy With The Night” from Ancient Spheres is a total motherfucking of a record. I highly recommend this album for your ungodly self-torture.
Krach von der Basis, aber ohne vertun! Die Trüffelschweine des Underground sollten hier hellhörig werden, denn hier wird anständig geholzt. Zwar ist das Intro viel zu laut, die Produktion vielleicht auch etwas zu klar, völlig egal. Ancient Spheres sind aus Costa Rica und geboten wird rasender Black Metal mit bestimmt keiner zu hohen Sounddichte, wie sie Motörhead anfangs auch nicht hatten. Das rhythmische "Emperors Of The Night" ist so ein Beispiel, wie knöchern das klingt, ohne zu viel Verzerrung, was aber auch klar seinen Charme hat. Das Trio mit shoutendem Basser mag das hohe Tempo, mindestens ein Instrument macht immer Tempo. Mit vier remasterten Bonustracks kommt man bei diesem Zweitwerk auf fünfzehn Songs und eine satte Spielzeit von siebenundsiebzig Minuten. Die CD kommt im Crystal Jewelcase mit Faltinlet und passend dunklem Coverartwork. Die Jungs kriegen es nicht perfekt umgesetzt, während andere schon froh wären, so zu klingen. Aber sie wissen genau, was sie da tun. Und das ist der Black Metal, wie sie ihn wollen!

Gli Ancient Spheres sono esponenti di una scena estrema costaricense in crescita, nella quale ci siamo peraltro già imbattuti di recente con l’ottimo album dei Black Whispers.
Qui la materia trattata è il black metal nella sue vesti più tradizionali: In Conspiracy with the Night è il secondo full length da parte di una band che si dimostra in grado di interpretare più che dignitosamente il genere, ma che appare ancora lontana dal raggiungimento di quegli standard necessari per consentire al trio di emergere.
A fronte di buone intuizioni è talvolta è l’esecuzione strumentale a fare difetto, con sbavature che in un regime di concorrenza così spinta non ci si possono consentire. Peccato, perché alcuni brani (la più rallentata Ethereal ed Emperors of the Night) possiedono un incedere convincente ed appaiono ben inseriti nei canoni del genere ma, proprio alla luce di questo, se non funziona tutto alla perfezione o quasi, vengono inevitabilmente meno i possibili motivi di interesse per l’ascoltatore.
Progredire è d’obbligo ed appare comunque un’impresa possibile: un minimo di personalità in più e un aggiustamento dei suoni potrebbero rendere competitivi in futuro gli Ancient Spheres all’interno di una scena più affollata di una metropolitana nelle ore di punta.

Tras una Intro selvática se introduce en nosotros uno de los primeros subestilos que aparecieron, el Black Metal, y a través de sus 15 canciones nos veremos absorbidos de entre sus garras. Un estilo que para no gustarme he de reconocer que esta banda me llamo la atención por no tener esa música tan pesada a la que nos acostumbra un estilo. Black Metal no tan extremos en su música.
Se me hace largo este estilo pero mas pesado se me hace aguantar 12 canciones tan largas, siendo las cuatro ultimas bonus de regalo. Metal acelerado, Metal negro, Metal intenso, donde la rapidez se junta con la brutalidad de sus temas y te harán enloquecer y ensordecer (a partir de ahora cierra las ventanas de noche) de locura.
Cuarto álbum de esta banda de Costa Rica nacida en 2010. Pero no es hasta 2011 cuando editan su primer trabajo en formato digital, un E.P. llamado “Cold Winds from the North... Stacked in the Deepest Woodlands”.En 2013 y también en el mismo formato sacan a la luz su primer larga duración “Tales of Suwoh” llevándole esta gira a localidades cercanas como a Europa. En 2015 editan otro E.P. “Under the Spell of the Spheres” y en Agosto del mismo año el disco que nos trae hasta aquí ¨In Conspiracy With The Night¨ de la mano de Satanath Records, obteniendo buenas criticas y dejándose ver en los escenarios en el tour "In Conspiracy with the Tour 2016", una gira en la que siguen avanzando.
Ya sabéis, Black Metal a la antigua, rápido, enérgico y con ganas de enseñar los dientes.

Eindelijk komt het einde van de stapel van het Satanath label in zicht. Als één van de laatste is Ancient Spheres aan de beurt, welke met In Conspiracy with the Night haar tweede langspeler aflevert. En bij deze Costaricanen mag je het woord lang letterlijk nemen aangezien het album bijna tachtig minuten klokt. Laten we dan maar eens luisteren of het een aangename zit wordt.
Het album opent met een instrumentaal niemendalletje om de benodigde sfeer te scheppen om daarna over te gaan in een redelijk tempo black metal track. De black metal die de heren maken is sterk geïnspireerd op het oude werk van onder andere Dissection en is vrij ongepolijst maar erg melodieus. De langzamere stukken benadrukken dit melodieuze karakter nog eens extra daar waar in het gitaarwerk sterk Zweedse invloeden terug te horen zijn. Vernieuwend is het allemaal dan ook niet en dit album beluisteren voelt ook als een stap terug in de tijd. Helaas is het materiaal vaak nogal repetitief en langdradig waardoor het de heren niet lukt om de aandacht de volledige speelduur vast te houden. Als je hier dan de behoorlijk stoffige opname bij optelt kom ik met mijn eindoordeel precies in de ruime middelmaat terecht.

Banda activa desde el año 2010, su nombre es sacado de las piedras esferas del país Tico las cuales fueron descubiertas en el año 1930 y que su procedencia aun sigue siendo una incógnita y vaya nombre sacaron de este tema.
Desde su fundación cuenta con 2 álbum de larga duración y 2 Eps, podemos encontrar un buen black metal en este álbum del cual estamos hablando el ya nombrado "In Conspiracy With The Night".
Guitarras densas que te llevan a una atmósfera oscura y a la vez lúgubre, sumergiendo al oyente en un metal crudo pero a la vez bien pensado y elaborado. No queda dudas que la banda sabe que busca y hacia donde va, ojala muchas bandas lo tuviesen claro algunas solo divagan en locura buscando ser extremos llegando a ser una mala copia de algo o alguien otros simplemente mezclan tantas cosas que son metal híbrido que no llega a ninguna parte.
Vocales dignas del genero gran trabajo de el bajista vocal Yeudiel Chacon (Death Invocation), no se pierde entre el excelente trabajo de las guitarras y composición de Adolfo Bejarano, letras dirigidas al oscurantismo y el ocultismo bien vomitadas por las vocales agresivas y violentas.
Destacando la originalidad del sonido obtenido ya que últimamente toda banda de black metal que voy escuchando quiere sonar como el black metal noruego o sueco. Bastante recomendable para escuchar y por que no adquirir.

This recently-established trio from Costa Rica has already released a full-length, which I can't make comparisons with as I haven't listened to that yet. They certainly prove to be a busy and committed band, since there have been several releases and appearances on compilations, as well as line-up changes and issues since they began their musical activity in 2010; in 2013 they also decided to play on stage and this 2015 release shows they haven't made compromises.
The monicker comes from ancient stone spheres found in the south of their homeland in the 1930's, still representing an archaelogical mystery like the ones discovered in South Africa; this album features a song on this topic, too, while the other topics covered are: ancient spirits invoked, an old tale, an ethereal being, night emperors come to conquer and devastate, a possession, slaughters, old forests and rites, and a lonely voluntary death.
After the tribal nocturnal intro with nature's sounds "Enchantment of the Night", "Invoking Darkness" and the Black Metal blastbeats start matched with traditional riffage alà Dark Funeral and solid bass lines, but it's actually the wicked Immortalesque vocals and the unstoppable pace of "A Tale Told Two Thousand Times" that bring the sonic pleasure to a different level.
Partly displaying fast tempos, "Ethereal" also contains a glacial break, interrupted by a vast assortment of mid and faster rhythms, very tight and oppressive in the way they present themselves.
Without shame of being accused of copying the forefathers of Black Metal, Ancient Spheres pour in tribute to the almighty Hellhammer in "Emperors of the Night", adding Immortal's influence in the quick parts, as well as a handful of growls.
No time for breath, the epic and destructive "The Sign" has come, embellished by drumming touches to emphasize the irrepressible bane arriving; delightful is the team work between bass and drums in a special passage in the middle of the song.
Although rich in flaws regarding pronunciation and grammar (the songs are all in English), I have to note that the singer is one of the best newcomers in the Black Metal scene, as he's able to sound frozen, evil and intelligible at the same time: a good example of my theory is in "My Ancient Spirits", where he also delivers guttural not artificial vocals coming directly from his opening coffin.
"Slaughters" doesn't contain growls but an ample array of Black Metal vocals; I love the rapid imaginative bass lines and the sword drawn before the structure creating a special atmosphere; and so do several vampiresque fugues that the guitar and the drum build after.
Darkthrone come to my mind in the martial "The Old Forest", full of vomited Black screams and other threatening vocals, a wolf's howl, and again the guitar player and the drums tag-team to satisfy any Black Metal afiocionado with class and strength.
The highlight of the Central American trio's songwriting is shown in "Cold and Dead Stone", where the lively variations, the stops 'n' go, the bell rings, the zombie's vocals and the ritual leader's vocals constitute the icy on the cake.
"In Solitude I Die" adds to the recipe even twice a HM riff that Iron Maiden fans will notice easily; this composition also adds two different ambience riffs that are unusual for Black Metal and prove that when they feel like the Central American horde can write very original stuff.
The remaining four bonus tracks are remasters from the recent "Under the Spell of the Spheres" EP: "Lord of the Morbid Ritual" is a scary, pitch-black composition, where the guitars are heavy or glacial as fuck depending on the moments; the vocals range from the choked Black/Death alà Dissection to the deep growl of a great deal of Death Metal bands, to recitative clean vocals not available elsewhere on this album. The blood-curdling bell ring and the mix of ritualistic noises and voices at the end complete the gloomy picture.
"Chaos Compass" is another interesting fast, raw, European-styled Black Metal gifted with traditional Black Metal rifferama (far from Death Metal this time), additional diabolic vocals and brilliant guitarwork; unfortunately many artificial drum sounds, probably sampled, for sure unfit for this genre ruin the global effect, depriving the song of its impact. Granted, we're in front of a self-recording/mixing/mastering product, but the very fact the album doesn't suffer from this fault means the three-piece has learned from its mistake and delivered 11 songs professionally-sounding.
The longest track of the CD, "Serkes" evokes darkness to reveal all its ugly face; alternated with rapid blastbeats and riffs, other riffs decidedly closer to Heavy Metal reinforced by demonic groans in the background appear that confirm the vocalist got possessed during a pagan forest ritual or an oujia board session.
The closer "Sands of Oblivion" begins with morbid guitars, followed by a ton of other different riffs, all with their distinctive character, as well as a number of eclectic vocal styles all performed by the same member.
Considering that the 15 tracks reach 77 minutes' length, some might think that the compositions last more than due; this is not the case, since every passage offers key elements or at least has a meaning to be there and therefore can't be seen as the filler of the part of a song at all.
Perhaps the most tremendous achievement of "In Conspiracy with the Night" is its ability of creating malicious ethereal qualities of a multitude of genres without succumbing to the confines of any of them...Ancient Spheres seem intent on giving the listener a broad canvas of sound to work without appearing grandiose or tedious, and with "In Conspiracy with the Night" they succeed on every level of that intention. Utilizing the negative space of sound in a way that many other outfits would do well to pay heed to, the Costa Ricans have got pretty close to concocting a masterwork, easily placing themselves in a realm of music that will hard be defeated this year.

ANCIENT SPHERES from Costa Rica take their name from an archaeological mystery in their home country; the notorious, massive, nearly perfectly spherical boulders whose function remains unknown. The band's connection to the night, the forest, the ambiance of their country seems apparent from the start, both in the rather simplistic cover artwork and in the opening intro, which effectively invokes a nocturnal tribal wilderness. This leads into an assault of primitive and raw yet melodic Black Metal heavily attached to the early 90s scene. There is something Scandinavian in their sound, with the EMPEROR demo and old MAYHEM sometimes coming to mind. However, I also often found passages heavily reminiscent of the Greek scene, mainly VARATHRON and the likes. So you see how deeply rooted in those pristine times this band plays its music. You are in for a long treat, as the album tops 70 minutes, with the inclusion of four remastered and otherwise altered bonus tracks. The recording quality is also much akin to the scene they draw inspiration from, and everything can be heard clearly: the raspy Black Metal vocals, the thundering bass and the one guitar, that despite not being backed up by a second one fills the long songs with proficiency, aiming for rich compositions and strong riffs. The obviously programmed drums could be heavier, but that does not hurt the result very much. The album is successful in keeping a high level of quality throughout its entirety, and I find much to praise in the result, with its rich, inventive guitar playing so far ahead of the unsophisticated sound of less ancient Black Metal. If you are into the original second wave Black bands, this is certainly worth a listen. Latin America keeps delivering quality old school Metal.

Siete pronti a una indigestione di black metal costaricano? "In Conspiracy With The Night" è il secondo album degli Ancient Spheres, formazione nata nel 2010, connazionale degli Alastor Sanguinary Embryo (ospitati su queste stesse pagine un anno fa) e che prende il nome dalle misteriose sfere di pietra ritrovate nel sud del Paese, patrimonio dell'Unesco. Questi settantasette minuti rilasciati nel 2015 sono offerti da Satanath Records e More Hate Productions.
Abbiamo a che fare con un black metal graffiante in stile old school, accompagnato da uno screaming strozzato e arcigno molto incisivo e con un basso sferzante, ma che lascia spazio pure a inserimenti melodici taglienti di scuola svedese. L'ex terzetto, oggi one man band, si trova a proprio agio quando le ritmiche si fanno incalzanti, tuttavia non manca di frenare la propria corsa in "Ethereal", "The OId Forest" e "In Solitude I Die", nelle quali emergono sentori doom.
Per spiccare all'interno di un genere così fortemente codificato e sviscerato è necessario che ogni dettaglio sia al proprio posto, dopodiché serve una buona vena compositiva. Sul primo punto i Costaricani si ritrovano pesantemente penalizzati dalla batteria, carente per suoni e soluzioni adottate, priva di mordente e spinta, in quanto il musicista designato Raymondsz è stato licenziato prima della registrazioni, perciò immagino sia stata utilizzata una drum machine. Circa il secondo punto invece i Nostri si sono complicati la vita da soli, costruendo una scaletta infinita, che aggiunge pure quattro brani bonus (tratti dall'ep "Under The Spell Of The Spheres") all'ora scarsa di durata dell'album: di conseguenza le buone intuizioni sparse qua e là non sono sufficienti a sostenere l'enorme flusso sonoro, facendo abbassare le quotazioni del disco. Come scritto di recente anche per gli Aornos, spesso meno è meglio.
Tirando le somme, gli Ancient Spheres hanno parecchi margini di miglioramento facilmente raggiungibili, quindi mi auguro lavorino sodo sui punti critici indicati, a patto che Adolfo Bejarano riesca a trovare validi compagni di avventura. Al momento con "In Conspiracy With The Night" sono da prendere a piccole dosi e personalmente consiglio la traccia iniziale "Invoking Darkness".

Непроглядные джунгли Амазонки. Густые, опасные, поглощающие – вот, куда переносит этот портал, стоит лишь сделать шаг, и включить диск. Углубляясь в эти джунгли, сам еще не понимая, что ты хочешь найти здесь, ты продолжаешь путь в неизведанное. Иногда ты видишь во мраке призраков, они словно вспышки в сознании, возникают то тут, то там. Постепенно, твой путь и поиск обретают форму, но не ясность. Лишь на уровне ощущений, ожидание будоражит сознание и сердце, жаждущее познания. Путь будет долгим, ты будешь блуждать вслепую по бескрайним мистическим джунглям, продираться через смертоносные болота, где, то и дело, будешь чувствовать на себе чей-то следящий взгляд. Кто-то ждет тебя в конце твоего пути, и именно за этим ты пришел. Но что это и кто это? Удастся ли достигнуть цели и получить откровение и ответы на вопросы, которых становится все больше, по мере того, как ты продвигаешься в самое сердце неизведанных лесов? Есть только один способ узнать– ты должен продолжать путь.
Вот так меня вштырило с творчества этих ребят из Коста-Рики. Это, что касается атмосферы. Могу еще добавить, что порой, атмосфера начинала напоминать какое-то причудливое слияние творчества King Diamond и фильма «Апокалипсис».
Теперь, несколько слов о самой команде. Итак, как уже было отмечено, группа Ancient Spheres происхождением из Коста-Рики, зародилась в 2010м году. Название взято с именования древних каменных шаров, которые то и дело, находят по всему миру, но, как говорит Википедия, наибольшее их сосредоточение как раз-таки и расположено на юге Коста-Рики. Первую ипишку группа записала в 2012м, а в 2013м уже произвела на свет первый полноформатный альбом.
Наконец, выскажусь о, собственно, звучании. В целом, второй полноформатный альбом «In Conspiracy With The Night» костариканцев Ancient Spheres, выдержан в традиционном БМ стиле. Нельзя не отметить явное влияние ранних Ancient и Immortal, до боли знакомые риффы которые, встречаются то тут, то там, ровно, как и вокальные решения, являются весьма ощутимой отсылкой к этим командам. Тем не менее, невозможно обвинить ребят в плагиате или же слепому подражанию эталонам, но не заметить этого просто нельзя. К тому же, ассоциаций с обледенелыми северными берегами абсолютно не возникает. Впрочем, этот факт нисколечко не мешает группе оставаться самобытной и достаточно оригинальной. А, встречаемые местами, элементы трэша и дэта приятно разбавляют композиции, отчего те только выигрывают. Вообще, довольно мелодичный блэк, но, в тоже время, традиционно суровый и четкий. Возможно, мне бы хотелось в этом релизе больше низов и жирности звука, но это мое субъективное желание. Единственно, мне альбом показался несколько затянутым, что не удивительно, поскольку состоит он аж из 15-ти треков, 11 из которых являются как раз материалом данного полноформатника, и 4 композиции, затесавшиеся сюда бонус-треками, это пересведенные вещи с ипишки того же, 2015-го года «Under The Spell Of The Spheres». К слову, этот материал мне показался несколько более традиционным, нежели сам полноформат, что никоим образом не делает последний хуже. Впрочем, можно ускорить процесс ознакомления, и получить общее представление, прослушав хотя бы композиции «A Tale Told Two Thousand Times”, “Ethereal”, “The Old Forest”, “In Solitude I Die”, но это, скорее, как затравочка. Подводя итог, могу сказать, что альбом достойный и к прослушиванию рекомендуемый. Для меня лично он привнес нечто новое в мою музыкальную копилку
