Sono sei le band che popolano questo split della Satanath Records, etichetta di San Pietroburgo. Sei modi di intendere l’inferno, ma più di ogni altra cosa di offrire uno scorcio su diverse realtà underground del pianeta. Gli indonesiani Barzakh aprono le ostilità con un black metal dal taglio classico e con buone e continue variazioni nei temi musicali e nei ritmi. Melodie epiche e vibranti sono elementi che balzano subito all’orecchio. I Barzakh hanno già inciso due album e diverse altre cose, come i loro dirimpettai geografici Goresluts, band malese che si dedica a un death-grind possente e rabbioso. Sound coinvolgente, ricco di groove e due canzoni interessanti. Gli Horrorific Disease, giapponesi, nascono nel 2011 da Makoto Mizoguchi (Abraxas e ex-Hate Eternal), realizzano un demo di successo, “Disease From Hell”, e un album di debutto, “Outbreak”, grazie a un death metal che forgia i crismi del genere attraverso diverse correnti (svedese e americana in primis) e una vivacità compositiva che i due pezzi qui presentati, “Slaughter” e “The Pissed Punisher”, svelano ampiamente. Si tocca anche la Thailandia con i Savage Deity, altra band death metal molto oscura e un tantino rozza nei suoni, ma pur sempre rabbiosa e volubile nelle composizioni. Sfrenati, possenti, arcigni, i thailandesi si rivelano una feroce e spietata incarnazione del death metal. Ai limiti dell’ascoltabile i Shadowmirth del Brunei, a causa di una registrazione che ovatta e fodera i suoni. Una qualità non eccelsa, ma non tale da nascondere l’anima piuttosto melodica di questa band che si pronuncia attraverso riff e temi melodici dal taglio epico e che nel complesso fondono doom, death e black metal. La band è composta da quattro elementi che hanno e avevano diverse partecipazioni in altre band, ma i due pezzi presentati in “6 Ways of Hell” sono la prima cosa realmente pubblicata, nonostante un passato che ha visto la band sciogliersi e sparire per anni. I Suicidal sono di Singapore e sono sfrontatamente black metal. Anche loro incrostati da una registrazione non eccelsa, ma non tale da pregiudicare l’ascolto e comprensione di queste due infernali canzoni. Un solo album all’attivo, ma la partecipazione a diversi split per i Suicidal. “6 Ways of Hell” è un grimorio dell’underground, nato per descrivere realtà lontane a noi europei, ma non meno occulte e malefiche rispetto alle formazioni che popolano il nostro continente. Solo gli Horrorific Disease sembrano fuori dal tema infernale dal sound generale, grazie a quel substrato crust che infarcisce la loro musica, ma il resto è per davvero nel segno del pentacolo rovesciato.

Een split van Satanath Records met maarliefst zes bands. Iedere band vertegenwoordigt met twee stuks aan sonisch terreur, die ons een weg naar de hel sturen op zes verschillende manieren en dat geheel op Aziatische wijze. Ik bespreek iedere band even kort hieronder.
De cd begint met het Indonesische Barzakh, nee geen balzak, dat blackmetal speelt en het er best goed van af brengt met deze twee songs. Metal uit dat land is geen vreemd iets meer tegenwoordig en wellicht daarom ook dat het geen verrassing in het negatieve is. Niet dat het wereldschokkend is wat deze mannen doen, maar het is best goed te pruimen, dit Barzakh
Het uit Maleisië afkomstige Goresluts, is zoals de naam u wellicht al doet vermoeden, een stuk lomper en vunziger van aard. Grindcore en deathmetal in de ranzige mixer met ingrediënten van bands als Coercion en ook wat Squash Bowels. Niks bijzonders maar wel lekker om te luisteren en zeker niet de minste van deze split.
Uit Japan komt Horrific Disease en zij maken deathmetal, voorzien van blaffende zang met veel gehak en gebeuk. Het doet mij tijdens de blastmomenten, en die zijn niet zeldzaam, denken aan het Poolse Shadow's Land.
Uit Thailand komt een heleboel, en neen niet alleen maar omgebouwde dunne mannen die vrouwen lijken te zijn, Thaise kippensoep, Thaise noodles en Thaise deathmetal. Savage Deity heet dit vierkoppige, meer op mannen lijkende, gezelschap. Leuk om een keer te horen en zeker niet slecht. Deze rakkers klinken ook weer wat Pools en Zweeds, oldschool dan wel te verstaan.
Shadowmirth is dan echt de minste van de plaat. Het klinkt ongeïnspireerd en andere bands hebben het ook al laten horen. Het kan mij dan ook niet bekoren en vind het lastig om de twee toch-niet-al-te-lange-tracks uit te zitten. Volgende graag!
De laatste die fungeert als hekkensluiter is Suicidal uit Singapore en is toch ook best bagger te noemen en waarschijnlijk daarom de hekkensluiter. Met name de zang is gewoon vervelend en zorgt voor irritatie. Het nummer Desecration begint dan nog wel oké, maar de zanger is wel een echt minpunt.
Best een leuk schijfje zo'n split met Aziatische metal. Het is niet alsof je een warme, stralende vakantie hebt in een van de meer tropische van de bovengenoemde contreien. De meeste bands zijn immers leuk om te horen en doen het prima, alleen jammer van die twee laatste bands. Het hadden ook vier wegen naar de hel mogen zijn.

This is a review of a split album between Indonesia's Barzakh, Malaysia's Goresluts, Japan's Horrific Disease, Thailand's Savage Deity, Brunei's Shadowmirth and Singapore's Suicidal called "6 Ways Of Hell" which was released by Satanath Records and we will start off the review with Barzakh a band that has been featured before in this zine and plays a satanic form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very raw and melodic sound that also brings in solos that use melodies and grim yet high pitched black metal screams along with some blast beats and deep growls and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when spoken word parts are utilized they give the music more of a ritualistic feeling and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover Occultism and Darkness themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Barzakh and if you are a fan of raw and melodic black metal, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Nightmare Of the Cult".
Next up is Goresluts a band that plays a mixture of death metal and grindcore.
Their side of the split starts out with growls and screams which also leads up to an old school grindcore style that also uses a great amount of blast beats as well as being very heavily rooted in the mid 80's or early 90's and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and when solos and leads are utilized they are very melodic and bring more death metal elements into the music, the production sounds very heavy and old school while the lyrics cover prn, gore, and torture themes.
In my opinion Goresluts are a very great sounding old school mixture of death metal and grindcore and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Bastards".
Next up is Horrific Disease a band that plays an old school mixture of death metal and thrash.
Their side of the split starts out with a very old school death metal that also speeds up and adds in blast beats and growling vocals that also have a touch of thrash and crossover in them and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music brings in a great mixture of mid paced and fast parts along with some melodic guitar leads on the second track, the production sounds very old school while the lyrics cover angry themes.
In my opinion Horrific Disease are a very great sounding old school mixture of death metal and thrash and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACK "The Pissed Punisher".
Next up is Savage Deity a band that plays an old school form of death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very heavy and brutal death metal sound and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them along with a great amount of 90's influences and the vocals are done in a growling fashion along with a few seconds of spoken word parts while some of the riffs bring in morbid sounding melodies and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts while the solos and leads are very heavily influenced by the Florida bands, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover suffering and death themes.
In my opinion Savage Deity are a very great sounding old school death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "They Reign".
Next up is Shadowmirth a band that plays a very melodic form of death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark and melodic sound that also uses a great amount of depressive screams that also bring in a touch of black metal and all of the musical instruments sound very powerful and when the music speeds up a great amount of blast beats utilized and clean singing can also be heard briefly, the production sounds very dark while the lyrics cover dark and depressive themes.
In my opinion Shadowmirth are a very great sounding melodic death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Endless'.
Closing the split is Suicidal a band that plays a raw and depressive form of black metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very dark, heavy yet distorted sound before going into a faster and raw black metal direction that also utilizes a great amount of blast beats and high pitched screams and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts, and you can also hear a brief use of spoken words and war sounds, the production sounds very raw and old school while the lyrics cover violence, massacre and suicidal themes.
In my opinion Suicidal are a very great sounding raw and old school black metal fan and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACK "Desecration".
In conclusion I feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of death, grindcore and black metal.

With 6 Ways Of Hell, Satanath Records, undoubtedly one of the most important Russian labels lately, collects six bands from the Far East and the South-East of Asia. Each of them comes with two tracks. And totally within the vein of the label, there is quite some difference in sonic approach.
6 Ways Of Hell starts with two pieces by Barzakh, an Indonesian duo that started at the end of last century. However, they were not that active at all for almost one decade; their latest album was released in 2007. But now they sort of return with two new (?) pieces. Nightmare Of The Cult and In The Sanctity Of Abject stand for very powerful and highly melodic Black Metal with a general traditional approach. Both pieces are mainly fast and do include elements from the Blaspheme Death Metal scene. But the focus lies on fierce, warlike conviction, with, as mentioned before, that characterizing melodic approach. The latter has to do with several fabulous leads and, more to the background, memorable melodious and epic waves of sound, nicely supported by a plain yet decent rhythm section and throaty screams (+ some guttural grunts). Barzakh surely are not original, but these guys convince with their stuff! 8,5/10
As the name might suggest, Goresluts are rather to be put under the ‘Death / Grind’-file. This Malaysian band did modestly surprise with last year’s full length Divisi Panji Merah, and both tracks on this split are taken from that album. Both songs might remind the listener to the scene’s mid-nineties era, with the North-American one coming to mind especially, I think. Nice is the injection of some slowed-down passages as well as the structurally well-thought leads / solos, which make this band not just some uninspired and chaotic bunch of empty-headed grind-freaks. 8/10
Horrific Disease are a pretty young band from Japan, that recently released their full length debut via Satanath Records. I think it’s evident you might expect a review on this album in a near future. Both tracks on this split, by the way, will be part of that studio recording too, so this is what you can expect on Outbreak, which is that album’s title. What these guys bring is a form of Crust / Punk-laden Grindcore with a no-nonsense approach and… Well, I did mention ‘Punk’, so that’s the atmosphere you have to cope with. Riff-wise, and also when thinking about the guitar lines, there is some influence from the (East-European) Death Metal scene as well, with hints of trans-European Thrash (era Eighties!) penetrating the whole experience – especially The Pissed Punisher goes on that very way. 7/10
Next are Thailand-based Savage Deity, also a pretty new band that released a full length in 2013 (but I haven’t heard it, so I can’t say anything about it). Here too, both songs are taken from that full album. They perform a kind of old schooled Death Metal I haven’t experienced anymore in more than two decades. It’s blaspheme, morbid, doomish and still melodious, with quite a sinister and macabre atmosphere / sound. A massive rhythm section and fierce guitar leads, malignant grunts and thrashing solos interact well with each other, and I start craving for some revival of the late eighties / earlier nineties. Right now, once again, I’m experiencing some demo tape déjà-vu, if you know what I mean. And that’s meant the positive way! 8,5/10
The sonic terror continues with two pieces by Shadowmirth, a four-piece hailing from the small country Brunei (I know the country because I am smart, but do you…?...). I hadn’t heard of Shadowmirth before, but apparently they do exist for quite some time, and the members are or were involved in different (local) acts before too. The sound is very bad, unfortunately, but the intentions aren’t that bad at all. Though, I have the impression these guys are trying too much to sound like their ‘heroes’, whoever they might be. The compositions, I mean the song writing as well as the performance, are all right, but unfortunately it cannot convince undersigned that much. For sure I have heard worse stuff, but this band isn’t able to define the essence of the scene sonically. Yes, there is quite some variety for sure, and yes, these guys are trying very hard; but it is not enough, I am afraid… 6,5/10
The split ends with two new compositions by Singapore-based entity Suicidal. This band is active for more than a decade and pretty influential within the South-Eastern Asian scene (but not in the Western Worlds, at least: not yet). Here too the sound quality isn’t acceptable, but I do forgive them for their Black Metal is of the traditional, classical kind, yet executed with craftsmanship, experience, conviction and pride. The material is both melodic and fast, akin the Second Wave trend, yet with quite, eh, ‘different’ vocal lines. I do also appreciate the rhythm section a lot, although you really need to listen very concentrated, because the sound quality, once again, lacks of satisfaction. Underground is one thing, but mud is mud, even the sonic way, you see… I know, quite a plastic description, but right to the point. Suicidal try to pay tribute to the core of the Old School, and despite being renewing, they sort of succeed to. At the other hand, one might miss an own-faced identity, or some distinctive influences from their local origins, and that’s a might-have-been, I think.

Еще одна мощная презентация от Satanath Records — сплит на 6 исполнителей из таких экзотических )) стран как Indonesia | Malaysia | Japan | Thailand | Brunei | Singapore. Особенно Таиланд )). Но. Комплекс очень сложный брутальный и многогранный. Где уж их нашел Сатанат, как связался с ними, страшно и предположить, но факт есть факт. Знаю, что есть даже потребители таких сплитов, что собираются отдельные коллекции таких дисков. И в самом деле, как накоротке познакомиться с двумя — тремя командами, как не приобретя грандиозный сплит… а тут шестиформатный. Это просто сюрпрайс для ценителей жестокого агрессива, воплощенного в компакт-диске. Так что, почнем с темными Богами.
Группы дают самого палительного жара по два трака тотальным временем на 42:35 и начинает уже названный
Barzakh — шквальный, расторможенный Black Metal с пробивающимися ростками смерти, то есть дэт металла. Вокалист(ы) в олдовом стиле работают скримингом и полу-гроулом, подзаряжая атомные батарейки в профильном устройстве. Которое, кажется, готовится бахнуть! Бахнуло в начале второго трака. И немного по трешевому понеслась эта звезда по субтропическим кочкам, истово воодушевляя местную (и не только) металлическую публику на поступки и проступки )). Там же добавилось злого атмосферика, немало алкозависмого и ударенного жизнью.
Goresluts — занятный, извращенный Death Metal/Grindcore, уничтожительный, хаотичный, и громко катящийся на колесиках прямиком в преисподнюю. Два вокала тоже: гроул хрипловатый и повыше. Ребята знают толк в том, чтобы приостановиться и помочалить нервную систему, а потом опять включиться — для того, чтобы ничто не жило на этой земле, по всей видимости малайзийской. Злотворяще, искрометно, и в целом, зубодробительно, и главное, с хорошей долей композиторской фантазии, что очень важно для нового продукта.
Horrific Disease — прочно притрешованный Death Metal исполняют эти металлюги, при чем это относится как к угарному вокалу(ам), так и структуре компо. Как говорится, больше водки, дэт-трэша и угара. При том исполнители уверенно сохраняют жесточайшую линию на тотал дестракт, упертую линию ритм-секции, а также вполне безумную гитарную эквилибристику. Кажется, группа делает серьезную ставку на живые выступления, ибо это заметно по этим тракам.
Savage Deity — более чистая форма дэт металла, намеренно аппелирующая к олдскулу, да к тому же троглодитскому по намерению и исполннеию. Этот кавернозный вокал тут при всех делах, доминирует общее утробное звучание, и адский напор, который при случае может выдаваться как региональное землетрясение, опасное и к тому же забойное. Ритм-секция здесь нацелена на то чтобы сносить небольшие участки почвы в море и там топить, все что ни попадется под руку. Весьма приличное озверение, помноженное на грубость и мизантропию. Ребята сооружают сердитый музыкальный комплекс, удушающий и трамбующий по уши в землю.
Shadowmirth — иногда считает, что выделывает Melodic Death Metal, по большей части из-за того, что гитары настроены на мелодическую апокалиптичекую рефлексию, которая ложится верхним уверенным струнным слоем. А поверх несется удивительный голос вокалиста, который, вероятно, не знает, что поет в МДМ команде, ибо это очень низкий расщепленный ор, который даст фору многим коллегам из ряда профильных команд. Его голос — несомненно большой плюс команды, к тому же кто-то (или он же) исполняет меланхоличные мрачные напевы — местами, в итоге получается реально впечатляющий и устрашающий микс.
Suicidal. Ну и на край — блэчарный отвяз, который сначала разивается в блак-траше среднего темпа, а потом убыстряется. Весьма олдскульно, прямо машина времени укатилась назад. С сиплым, замогильным верещанием, мистическими голосами, разыгрывающими общение через слой земли, и с проигрышами, похожими на клавишные, труйный до жести — аж не подходи. Чернота непроглядная вываливается из колонок и ползет в углы, где прячется, дожидаясь подходящего времени суток. Спиритический сеанс одновременной игры. Качество записи нарочито сырое, вымораживающее дыхание и лишающее базы для сопротивления.

Black Metal'den tutun,death-grind'a,brutal death'ten melodik death metal'e kadar 6 tane Asyalı grubu bir araya getiren bu çalışma farklı soundların aynı cd vasıtasıyla dinleyiciye ulaşmasına yardımcı oluyor.
Album Endonezyalı Barzakh ile başlıyor,grup melodik black metal çalıyor,yıllardır internet aleminde çeşitli sayfalarda görüyorum,hatta yanılmıyorsam daha önce compilationda yer vermiştik. Ben bu compilationda yer alan 2 parçasının kayıtlarını beğendim ,biraz dark funeral 'in yavaş hallerini anımsattı,melodik black metal severler kulak kabartabilir. 6.5/10
3 ve 4üncü parçalar Malezyalı topluluk Goresluts'a ait, black metal'den sonra death grind biraz garip geliyor,çok hızlı bir tarzları yok,şahsen çok ilgimi çekmedi,bu tarz gruplar ile çok haşırneşir olmadığım için bir yorum getiremeyeceğim,soundları eski kafa,fakat bana fazla durağan geldiler... 6/10
5 ve 6ıncı parçalar Japon Death/Grind grubu Horrific Disease'e ait. Grup modern soundu ile dikkat çekiyor,bu splitten sonra bir albümde çıkarmışlar,bana daha çok İsveç death metali etkisinde kalmış gibi geldi.Blast gidenparçaları var,oldukça kısa parçalar tam grind mantığı ile yapılmış.Kayıt kalitesi ve beste yapısı oldukça yerli yerinde...Başarılı bir grup,albümlerinide dikkatle takip edeceğim. 7.5/10
7 ve 8 inci parçalar Taylant'lı old school death metal grubu Savage Deity'e ait. Kayıt kalitesi düşük olan bu iki parçada hissettiğim şey underground düşünce yapısı doğrultusunda olduklarıdır.Underground takipçilerinin ilgisini çekebilecek riflere sahip besteleri olan Savage Deity,ritmik melodiler ve agresif vokal tarzı ile kulakların pasını alıyor. 7/10
9 ve 10 uncu parçalar Brunei Sultanlığı topraklarından duyduğum ilk grup Shadowmirth adını taşıyor. Çok zengin bir ülke olduğunu duyduğum Brunei'de metal müzik yapanların elbet olduğunu düşünürdüm,bu grupta oradan birilerine ulaşmamıza ön ayak olmuş oldu. Tarz olarak melodik death metal denilmiş ama ben daha çok depresif black metal gibi olduğunu düşünüyorum. Hani beste yapısında black metal agresifliği yok ama ,burzum vari scream vokaller bulunuyor.Oldukça amatör bir grup,tarzını ben raw black metal olarak isimlendiriyorum. Umarım devam ederler ve daha başarılı bir sunuma imza atarlar. 6/10
Albümün kapanış grubu ise Singapur'dan Suicidal,grup raw black metal çalıyor. Kayıt kalitesi ve parçalar oldukça düşük seviyede,özellikle vokal çok kötü açıkcası... Düz besteler ve zayıf prodüksiyon artık beni cezbetmiyor,Suicidal'dan özür dileyerek 5/10

"6 Ways Of Hell" è il titolo di uno splittone pubblicato dalla Satanath Records, che ingloba realtà provenienti dal mondo metal d'oriente e al cui interno spicca la presenza dei nipponici Horrific Disease, formazione fondata dal chitarrista-bassista Makoto Mizoguchi (Disembowel ed ex di Abraxas, Internal Suffering e Pyrexia). Come precisato dal nome dell'uscita, sono sei le vie infernali che incroceremo durante l'ascolto, sei come la band che vi prendono parte, e ognuna di queste si presenta attraverso due pezzi. In totale ci vengono messi a disposizione quasi tre quarti d'ora di musica estrema.
La scaletta è qualitativamente altalenante, per non dire spaccata a metà. Considero ben più che soddisfacenti le prove offerte dal black metal di taglio classico melodico degli indonesiani Barzakh e dall'accoppiata death e grind-death composta dai malesiani Goresluts e dagli Horrific Disease; soprattutto queste compagini mostrano di possedere sia un suono che una composizione in grado di richiamare a sé le attenzioni degli amanti di quei generi. Non sono in altrettanto modo convincenti la pura rabbia, ma ancora un po' fine a se stessa, scaturita dall'insalubre e rozzo death metal dei Savage Deity, la zoppicante proposta melodic death in stile Göteborg anni Novanta dei bruneiti Shadowmirth (né per ciò che concerne la forma canzone né per la produzione ai limiti dell'ascoltabile) e il conclusivo assalto nero, infervorato e battagliero portato dai singaporeani Suicidal, inficiato da un cantato a dir poco irritante.
La scena asiatica ribolle e ha tanto da poter offrire, "6 Ways Of Hell" rappresenta uno dei molteplici esempi della prolifica attività metallica underground diffusa nel continente. Al suo interno non tutto gira come dovrebbe, alcune realtà hanno già le carte in regola per far breccia negli ascolti, altre invece dovranno faticare — e non poco — per raggiungere tale obbiettivo, ma pare non vi siano carenze di passione e attitudine. Vedremo quindi quale di questi nomi diverrà parte delle nostre collezioni, intanto sfruttate l'occasione per fare nuove conoscenze.

This album is somehow confusing at first, since it is announced as a "split CD”, yet it features no less than six bands who joined forces and contributed two songs each. The result was called “6 Ways Of Hell”, and I personally would call this record a compilation. But that's just splitting hairs here. So, let's concentrate on the six bands this album has to offer. The special thing about “6 Ways Of Hell” is the origin of the bands, since all of them are from the (more or less) far East of Asia, any band from a different country. And the music presented here is quite surprising all the way. The disc starts off with BARZAKH, a duo from Indonesia. Their songs 'Nightmare Of The Cult' and 'In The Sanctity Of Abject' offer solid Black Metal with a distinct touch of DISSECTION. Nothing spectacular, but appealing. Next we have GORESLUTS from Malaysia who don't play the “funny” kind of Porngrind the name promises (or threatens?). Instead it's the kind of Grind that makes the CARCASS lunatic hop up and down in joy, which means that there's a very healthy dose of Death Metal injected ('Bastards' especially), as well as some surprising breaks (intro part of '0.69 - Chaotic Toxic Turbulence'). The best renown musician of this album plays in HORRIFIC DISEASE from Japan: Makoto Mizoguchi, who already played with HATE ETERNAL and INTERNAL SUFFERING, among others. HORRIFIC DISEASE is his new project with some other musicians from the Japanese Death Metal scene. Musically, they play some more simple, yet effective Metal of Death, that is pretty much to the point without forgetting the energy like in the short 'Slaughter'. But the melodies have an important role as well, since their other song 'The Pissed Punisher' (what a title!) is spiced with even MAIDENesque guitars on high speed. Very well done, guys! Thailand is the home of SAVAGE DEITY. Their simple, old fashioned and raw Death Metal is my personal highlight on “6 Ways Of Hell”. 'They Reign' is very charming and breathes some 1980s South American Metal air, while 'Vanishing Virtue' has a Thrash vibe of the finest style. SAVAGE DEITY already released a full length and some split releases, so I hope to catch more of this very good band. SHADOWMIRTH from the sultanate of Brunei for sure is the band from the most “exotic” country on this compilation. And they're the one that needs getting used to the most as well. The vocals are such hysteric that they don't seem to fit to the melodic Death Metal with a bold Gothic touch in the melody lines. Their first song 'Thorns' comes along very chaotic, blackened and still quite unique. 'Endless' is a somehow choleric blend of old ANATHEMA and very early IN THE WOODS..., which is either puzzling and fascinating. SUICIDAL from Singapore finish “6 Ways Of Hell” with some extremely Lo-Fi Black Metal. If you think that any kind of production in Black Metal is a sign of whimping out, 'Armageddon' and 'Desecration' are the best food for you. Yet especially the latter has a very rude charm that should address other old geezers, who were raised in the 1980s, like me as well. Otro split de la mano del pujante sello Satanath, pero en este caso son seis (!) las bandas presentadas, con la particularidad de que todas son provenientes del sudeste asiático. Como no podía ser de otra manera, el hilo conductor es que las seis bandas están enroladas en el metal extremo, y va aquí un breve detalle.
La cosa arranca con Barzakh, un dúo oriundo de Indonesia que desarrolla una suerte de black metal melódico con toques death. Luego pasamos a Goresluts, combo proveniente de Malasia y que como ya podrán haber deducido por el nombre hacen grind/death.
Promediando el CD, los japoneses Horrific Disease muestran una especie de crust mezclado con grindcore y algo de death. Luego, los tailandeses Savage Deity se meten de lleno en el death metal más ortodoxo.
Casi al final de esta masacre sonora, aparece Shadowmirth, cuarteto oriundo de Brunei y a los cuales el sonido no los ayudo mucho en su suerte de black metal old-school. Para el final, Suicidal, grupo de Singapur y que recorre los mismos caminos de los antes mencionados Shadowmirth.
Como siempre ocurre en estos casos, los resultados son dispares. Está en ustedes elaborar el veredicto final.

Splity to wyjątkowo fajny rodzaj wydawnictw. Czy to na zasadzie pojedynku, czy jako akt międzyzespołowej przyjaźni, dobry splicior dostarcza nowe odkrycia a samym muzykom pozwala na eksperymenty i zabawy muzyką. Chyba, że mowa o splitach takich, jak ten. Bo to ani pojedynek ani nic nie jest, i w sumie nie wiadomo na grzyba taki miszmasz wydawać.
6 Ways Of Hell to sześć ekip, wszystkie spod skrzydeł Satanath Records (prawdopodobnie wytwórnia chciała wypromować mniej znanych podopiecznych). Trzy deathmetalowe i trzy blackmetalowe, a niektóre to nawet mieszane w swojej gatunkowości. Od każdego po dwa utwory, czyli razem dwanaście. Akuratnie na czterdzieści pięć minut grania.
Wbrew rozumowi i godności człowieka, recenzja ta będzie raczej krótka. Powód jest trywialny: niespecjalnie jest tu co opisywać. Spróbuję być jednak skrupulatny i opisać te zupełnie mi nieznajome projekty jak najlepiej. Tak więc na pierwszy ogień leci Barzakh. Granie to czarne a melodyczne. W sumie to chyba bardziej melodyczne niż czarne, gdyż blackowego jadu jest tu deficyt. Ogólnie te dwa utwory są całkiem do siebie podobne, zbudowane na tej samej zasadzie i niespecjalnie interesujące. Nie powiedziałbym, że są słabe, ale zdecydowanie brakuje im energii i emocji. Wydają się jakieś takie… bezcelowe. Fajerwerków to to nie serwuje i ogólnie nie widzę większego powodu do słuchania tego. Tym bardziej, że sztuczna perka tylko podkreśla bezduszność kawałków. No i basu brak, a to zawsze mnie boli.
Drudzy są Goresluts. Tytuł sugeruje, że muzyka może mi podejść. Szkoda, że tylko sugeruje, a sam projekt okazuje się być całkiem przeciętnym death metalem z sporadycznymi elementami „umpa umpa”. Przyjemny wokal i fajne, mięsiste brzmienie instrumentów nijak niestety nie rekompensują co najwyżej średnich, nudnych, za wolnych i dziwnie pustych kawałków. Nie ma tu zupełnie nic ekstremalnego, nie ma prędkości, nie ma dzikości, agresji jak na lekarstwo. Niby końcówka 0.69-Chaotic Toxic Turbulence brzmi troszkę lepiej, ale to chyba niechcący wyszło.
Kolejni, i jednocześnie najlepsi, są Japońcy z Horrific Disease. Jeżeli szukacie powodów na nabycie 6 Ways To Hell, to najważniejszy z nich. Szybki, napakowany energią death metal z jajem i elementami grindu nie jest niczym odkrywczym, ale przyjemnym to już owszem. To jest po prostu fajna muza, dalsze rozwodzenie się jest zbędne. Szybko, konkretnie, ostro i wulgarnie. The Pissed Punisher, a szczególnie solówka i część posolówkowa, są słodziutkie. Wadą jest brzmienie bez basu i z zbyt małą ilością dołu. Poza tym, kosior.
Kolejne Savage Deity też jest niczego sobie. To też death metal, dużo bardziej obskurny niż Horrific Disease. Jeżeli lubisz dźwięki z krypty, prawdopodobnie grupa Tajów (albo Tajek, tam nigdy nie wiadomo) ma spore szanse ci podejść. Tempa są raczej średnie, brudne i brzydkie. To znaczy, całkiem smaczne. Nie jest to może superliga, ale Vanishing Virtue umie pobujać. Szczególnie w brzmieniu, jakie tu zaprezentowano.
Później mamy Shadowmirth, które jest dziwaczną abominacją melodeathu, blacku i BDSMowych DSBMowych wokali. Czy mogę skończyć na twierdzeniu, że nie jest to najjaśniejszy punkt tej płyty? Co, nie mogę? No trudno, to powiem jeszcze że te dźwięki brzmią smutno, w obydwu kontekstach. Czasami, jak w przypadku czystych chórków na Endless, robi się nawet słuchalnie, ale rzadko. Tym bardziej, że brzmienie rodem z piwnicy dziadunia po prostu nie pasuje do takiego grania. Lepiej tą część pomińcie.
Albo nie, pomińcie do końca, bo Suicidal też nie jest niczym specjalnym. Ot, takich tam kilku (z wyglądu) dzieciaków poprzebieranych w kolce, nawiasem dodam że prześmiesznie wyglądających z grzywkami typu „od garnka”, i grających w duchu szkoły norweskiej. Całkiem nieudolnie grających, zarówno z widzenia samych kompozycji, jak i umiejętności muzyków. Wokaliście chyba regularnie aplikują wiertło w dupsko. Ot, taka tam sobie czerninowa popelinka dla nikogo.
Koniec końców, split do czegoś się przydał. Horrific Disease było bardzo przyjemne, Savage Deity troszkę mniej, ale też miło było ich poznać. Resztę można sobie odpuścić. Cytując klasyka: może nie najtaniej… ale jako-tako.
Az orosz Satanath Records tavaly jelentette meg 6 Ways Of Hell című kiadványát, amelyen új anyagok tekintetében egy ideje tétlen, illetve karrierjük elején lévő zenekarokat kíván bemutatni a nagyközönségnek. A metal szempontból egzotikusabb országokat képviselő mindegyik banda két-két dallal szerepel a lemezen, az oldal követőinek pedig valószínűleg felesleges mondanom, hogy a kiadó többi foglalkoztatottjához hasonlóan ezek a zenekarok sem a finom lelkületűeket célozzák meg.
A kiadványon elsőként az indonéz Barzakh csap a húrok közé. Teszi ezt igencsak meggyőző módon, a korong végighallgatását követően ki lehet jelenteni, hogy a „nagyágyúval” indul az osztott lemez.
Stílusát tekintve dallamos black metalt tálalnak az indonézek. Végig hallatszik, hogy itt egy már rutinos banda húzza a talpalávalót (a zenekart 1998-ban alapították), kifejezetten kellemes melódiákkal operálnak, az énekhangok váltakozása pedig szintén jót tesz a befogadhatóságnak. Bár korábbi műveiket nem ismerem (eddig két nagylemez fűződik a nevükhöz, igaz az újabb is majd tíz éves), a Nightmare of the Cult és az In the Sanctity of Abject címet viselő két szerzemény alapján úgy tűnik, hogy sikerült megtalálniuk azt az egyensúlyt, amikor a dallamok még nem ölik meg a zene erejét, azonban épp elegendő mértékben vannak jelen ahhoz, hogy megjegyezhető, ne adj isten dúdolható legyen. Összességében a két dalukkal meggyőztek, az elegendő hangszeres tudás megvan, dalírás terén sincsenek gondok, mindenképp a kiadvány legfigyelemreméltóbb formációja, amely akár egy európai fesztivál korai fellépői között is helyet kaphatna.
A második nevező a beszédes nevű Goresluts, ami egy öttagú maláj death/(porn)grind brigád. Az indonézekhez hasonlóan szintén két nagylemezt tudnak maguk mögött, jelen kiadványra pedig a Bastards és a 0.69 Chaotic Toxic Turbulance című számokat választották. Mivel a zenekar a grind irányából érkezett, a death metal finomságai fel sem sejlenek a zenéjükben, az első lemezes egy-két perc játékidővel bíró számokat elhagyva azonban 3-4 perces dalokat kapunk tőlük, ami talán annak a jele, hogy elkezdtek dalokban gondolkozni. De azért van még mit dolgozni. Sejtésem szerint esetükben pozitívum, hogy szövegkönyv nem járt a CD-hez.
Harmadikként érkezik a japán Horrific Disease. Slaughter és The Pissed Punisher a két nevezett dal. A műfajt tekintve death metallal van dolgunk, bár tőlük sem áll messze a grind. Elsőre kapunk is egy percnél valamivel hosszabb zúzást rendkívül idegesítő énekhanggal, ami talán az artikulálatlan ordibáláshoz áll a legközelebb. Legalább rövid… Sebességben nincs hiány a második számban sem, a vokál szerencsére azonban valamelyest rendbe jön, legalábbis annyira, hogy már ne bántsa a fület. Bár death metalban én továbbra is a hörgést részesítem előnyben a kiabálás helyett. Talán japán sajátosság, hogy néha elgurul a gyógyszer, itt is ez történik a dal közepe táján, ahol az addig nyugodtan hömpölygő hangok kaotikus, zabolátlan témahalmazba csapnak át. Ilyen teljesítménnyel egyelőre még a középmezőnyért is meg kell harcolni.
Negyedikként a thaiföldi Savage Deity próbál szerencsét. Egy 2013-ban kiadott nagylemez áll a zenekar mögött, a választott stílus pedig szintén death metal. Zeneileg nem rossz, amit művelnek a fiúk, a hangzással viszont még hadilábon állnak, a stílus őskorát idézik meg ilyen szempontból, bár nem tartom kizártnak, hogy országukban éppen ebben a történelmi korszakban tart a metal. Tisztességes dalokat írtak meg, és az általam nagyra értékelt színesítést sem hanyagolták el, ami death metal lévén kb. szólókban merül ki, de tehetség rejlik a zenészekben, törekednek a minőségre. Valószínűnek tartom, hogy már most hazájuk undegroundjának egyik meghatározó figurái, vagy a jövőben azok lesznek.
Ötödikként igazán egzotikus országból, Bruneiből mutatkozik be a Shadowmirth. Bár melodikus death metal címkével látták el a zenekart, egyértelműen dallamos megközelítésű black metalban utaznak. A zenekarnak a jelen kritika tárgyát képező spliten kívül még semmilyen kiadványa nincs, így nem meglepő módon demo hangzást kapunk. Azonban megvan a bája annak, ahogy a recsegő-ropogó megszólalás mögött felsejlenek a dallamok, és e két elem kombinációjából tovább fokozzák ennek az amúgy is távoli világnak a titokzatosságát.
A korongot a szingapúri Suicidal zárja. A black metal zenekarnak még 2005-ből van egy nagylemeze, bár hangzás alapján ezt nem mondanám meg. A demo minőséget itt is megkapjuk, az előző zenekarral ellentétben azonban a zúgó-búgó függöny mögött nem vélek felfedezni semmit, ami felkeltené a figyelmet. Az Armageddon legérdekesebb részének néhány másodpercnyi háborús zaj bizonyult, a Desecration túlvezérelt mindene pedig négy perc alatt már enyhe agyzsibbadást eredményez.
Összefoglalva, a hat zenekar a kiforrott, jobbnál jobb régi és új albumokhoz szokott európai fülnek nem sok izgalmat tud nyújtani, helyén kezelve a dolgot azonban látni kell, hogy ezek az országok nem feltétlenül az extrém zenei kultúrájukról híresek, ezért saját közegükben akár fontos szerepet is betölthetnek ezek a bandák. Nekünk pedig megmaradnak érdekességnek.
Вот это я понимаю – сплитанули на отличненько! По целых две песни от шести команд из Юго-Восточной Азии, о которых европейский слушатель и слыхом не слыхивал! Квинтэссенция зла из Индокитая (плюс Япония) – это же, наверное, что-то с чем-то. Ну, что же, поехали! Barzakh – индонезийские сатанисты в два человека нарезают неплохой и мелодичный блэк-металл, правда, слишком стереотипный и немного напоминающий Cradle Of Filth без клавишных. Отторжения не вызывает, скорее наоборот, однако удивить чем-то ребята уже не могут – знать о них можно чисто для галочки. Goresluts – малайский дэт-грайнд. Очень напоминает старые работы Bolt Thrower и Benediction, т.е. где-то крышесносящий, где-то неторопливый тяжмет. Вокал звучит будто по рации или телефону – наверное, фишка такая. По музыке в целом прикольно и забойно, хотя, опять же, впечатлиться тут нечем. Но похвалить можно. Horrific Disease – японцы рубят мощную смесь из Napalm Death и Sepultura, таковы были мои первые ассоциации. Но рубят эффектно, за что им и спасибо. Любителям безбашенного тяжеляка есть что послушать, а на втором треке даже есть мелодичное соло, непонятно как затесавшееся в грайндкор, но ввиду абсолютной адекватности оно картины не портит. Пожалуй, топчик сплита. Savage Deity – самая сыро звучащая команда, но оттого не менее (а может и более) злобно, чем все прочие участники релиза. Тайцы могут похвастаться неплохим и олдскульным трэш-дэтом, как будто бы из 80-90-х. Кач и молниеносные, слегка атональные соло а-ля Slayer. Канонично и мощно, но так играла в свое время каждая вторая трэш-металл группа, стремившаяся в дэт. Shadowmirth – а нет, самая сыро-звучащая команда из Брунея. И, кстати, самая унылая, потому что играют они свой MDM так, будто это кавера на Цоя в электричестве с блэк-металлическими вставками – то бластбиты, то, извините, «могучий темноворон». Вокал так вообще из DSBM. В общем, будто школьники дебютируют в металле. Не заинтересовался я ими. Suicidal – сингапурские металлисты явно вдохновлялись ранними альбомами Behemoth и Cradle Of Filth, а на вокал взяли какого-то школьника, который ни Нергала, ни Дэни Филта толком скосплеить не может. В общем, скрим тут однообразный и еще не мужицкий. Музыка примитивная и очень андеграундная. Саунд подвальный, «как в 90-е». Так себе. Несмотря на представленный на сплите разнообразный по стилю и качеству материал у всех групп без исключения одна и та же проблема – калькирование. Ну, честно, все группы из Индокитая, где в некоторых странах нельзя ни голову в сторону повернуть, ни на землю плюнуть, чтобы тебя не расстреляли или оштрафовали на годовой кэш, а уж наши-то олдовые металлисты должны помнить серию фильмов «Шокирующая Азия» на кассетах с татуированной на всю спину бабой. Так вот – здесь вам никакой восточной экзотики, абсолютный и разный по качеству косплей европейских аналогов. Был ли в таком подходе смысл, я не знаю, посему оставляю это на совести музыкантов. Итог – умеренно интересный релиз, на котором я выделю для себя первые три (и с натяжкой четвертую) команды
