After a four-year hiatus since the release of their debut album in 2022, AMBROTOS returns with their captivating new concept album, Atrocious Chants. This release features an updated lineup that infuses fresh energy into their sound, resulting in a distinctive and powerful final product. "Atrocious Chants" marks a significant shift in lyrical themes compared to the band’s previous works, two EPs and one full-length album, dedicated to pre-Socratic philosophy. This new album delves into the fall of Constantinople and the decline of the Byzantine Empire, presenting a unique perspective that intertwines historical narrative with the religious beliefs and perceptions of the medieval era. "ATROCIOUS CHANTS" is a concept album that explores the figure of Satan through the lens of medieval Christian references, offering an alternative perspective that highlights the conflicts and devastation inflicted by religion on humanity. The lyrics are steeped in a Byzantine narrative surrounding the fall of Constantinople, contemplating the belief that this profound loss served as a divine punishment for a populace perceived as straying from true faith. Pre-produced at Alamos Studios (Athens, Greece) from 2022 to 2024. Recorded from 2023 to 2025. Produced by Leonardo Delgado and Ambrotos. Engineered, mixed & mastered by Leonardo Delgado at Thunderstorm Studio (CDMX, Mexico) in 2025. Front cover painting by Fanis Goulis (Athens, Greece). Layout by Satanath.
