Ruski blekeri "Temple of Nihil" su fanovima žanra ponudili jedno sasvim korektno izdanje. Svojim mini-albumom "Soul Extremist" ne izmišljaju toplu vodu, već jednostavno sviraju ono što vole. 4 pesme su i više nego dovoljna dnevna doza, pogotovo što je svaki aspekt (kreativnost, izvedba i produkcija) na i više nego zadovoljavajućem nivou.

Temple of Nihil are a black metal band from Russia and this is their debut EP.
Temple of Nihil specialise in occult black metal with a tasty guitar tone and a daemonic persona.
The EP boasts a solid sound that even allows you to hear the bass, which is somewhat of a black metal rarity. Guitar solos are also included, giving the impression that the band like their classic metal and first wave black metal alongside their more obvious second wave influences.
Dark blackened melodies are let loose alongside the withering blast beats, and the distorted grooves make short work of the song lengths.
These tracks are unforgiving and merciless, seemingly relentless in their intent and focused direction. The use of different speeds shows a band comfortable with their delivery, without feeling the need to hide behind blasting intensity all of the time.
Strong screaming rasps are performed with passion and vigour, providing a central point of attack.
Soul Extremist is a quality hit of black metal. Confident enough to be itself and with a nice headbanging aspect to it, Temple of Nihil have more than proven their worth on their debut release.

Black metal of the late 90’s Norwegian bent, straight outta Russia.
Abbath-like croaks, deliberate, almost doomy and evil-sounding riffs which tend to give way to a more “Norsecore” stylistic bent, excellent production with more or less equal clarity on vocals, drums and guitars (though drums and vocals to get a bit more prominence in the mix). It’s all rather ProTools, as there’s no actual separation between instruments or room ambience – they’re just all up there together, right in your face. But you can make out everything with ease, and that’s a plus right there…
Surprisingly quite good, and given current, rather sorry trends in what remains of the black metal scene, rather retro feeling.

After that spellbinding Spectral Lore interlude, I’ll return to the main task of assaulting the New Year before it can assault us, with your brain as a not-so-innocent bystander.
This is Soul Extremist, the debut EP by a two-man black metal band from Kaluga, Russia, named Temple Of Nihil. It was co-released on December 19 by Symbol of Domination (Belarus) and Narcoleptica Productions (Kazakhstan).
Temple of Nihil prove themselves to be heavy beasts on this EP, merciless war leviathans armored in spikes. The songs are sometimes mid-paced and supremely grim, sometimes electrifying in their ferocity, and sometimes infectiously head-nodding, though Temple of Nihil vary the pace and the energy in each song. There’s an occult and magisterial air to the EP’s sinuous, exotic melodies that spawns visions of demonic conjurations, and there’s some great soloing in the tracks as well, along with a ravaging and dynamic vocal performance and eye-popping drum and bass work.
Excellent songwriting, excellent execution, excellent production… yet another surprising late-year discovery that has quickly become a 2016 favorite on this end.
Temple Of Nihil are a duo from Russia that plays a very aggressive form of occult black metal and this is a review of their 2016 ep "Soul Extremist" which was released as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination and Narcoleptica Productions.
A very heavy guitar sound starts off the ep along with some grim yet high pitched black metal screams a few seconds as well as a few demonic growls and the riffs also bring in a decent amount of dark sounding melodies and all of the musical instruments all have a very powerful sound to them.
Most of the tracks are long and epic in length and when the music speeds up a decent amount of blast beats can be heard while the solos and leads are done in a very melodic fashion along with the tracks also bringing in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the tremolo picking in the faster sections of the songs gives the music more of a raw feeling and all of the songs stick to a very heavy and aggressive musical direction.
Temple Of Nihil plays a style of occult black metal that is very heavy, fast and aggressive sounding, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover Darkness and Occultism themes.
In my opinion Temple Of Nihil are a very great sounding heavy and aggressive occult black metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this ep.

Petit voyage sur les fertiles terres de Russie avec les maléfiques Temple Of Nihil qui proposent cet Ep de 4 titres sorti comme fruit d’une collaboration entre Symbol Of Domination et Necroleptica Productions .
Le groupe russe propose un black metal aussi polaire que pernicieux.
Le travail est mis en avant au niveau des ambiances en prenant soin des les rendre moribondes au possible.
C’est « Devilution » qui ouvre le bal avec son tempo lent et lourd, les mélodies l’accompagnant dans cette maudite valse, la basse bien mise en relief avec ce son massif et claquant, puis la voix purement black qui possède ce timbre, ce grain éraillé qui ne sera pas sans rappeler les norvégiens de Gehenna.
Un break vient violenter brièvement le trajet avec une accélération rythmique ici et là et il permet de nuancer le black metal rampant pour lui insuffler une dose supplémentaire d’énergie par des blasts sans merci.
Pour clore ce morceau, on revient sur cette envoûtante mélodie où s’expriment les soli de guitare.
« Ov Spiders » se fait nettement plus brute et violente. Sans concession, le batteur impose un incessant martèlement de ses fûts sans oublier de dérouler à la double pédale s’accordant même des accélérations sur un rythme déjà costaud.
Des changements s’opèrent, plus lourds, décalés aux nombreux breaks et accentuent un aspect assez épique. Les passages diffèrent, donc, mais fusionnent comme il faut.
« Iblis » vous mène droit à l’autel, prêt pour le sacrifice avec un départ aussi tonitruant que le morceau précédent.
L’ambiance du titre est pesante et les rythmes, eux, tabassent de manière schizophrène par saccades et décuplent l’aspect fou et féroce de Temple Of Nihil.
Les coups frénétiques s’allient à d’autres plus barbares. On sent par le profil des morceaux que le combo a su puiser au plus profond des entrailles de la Bête pour maîtriser l’art de l’inquiétante intrigue qui prend cours.
L’éponyme « Soul Extremist » démarre sur un rythme catchy avec des mélodies efficaces comme on peut les apprécier chez un groupe comme Dissection.
Temple Of Nihil joue bien la carte en s’accaparant de l’auditeur par des riffs et rythmes entêtants avant de le brutaliser par des passages soit plus violents, soit oppressants et morbides.
Une bonne production nous arrivant donc de Russie de la part de ces deux labels.
Quatre titres bien ficelés qui, par ce black sombre, mélodique, varié et inspiré risquent de bien plaire aux amateurs du genre.

Калужские экстремисты из группы Храм Нихила, что в переводе на английский звучит как Temple Of Nihil, исполняют чёрный метал, а в 2016 году записали дебютный четырёхтрековый мини-альбом, на котором дали волю своему экстремизму, воплотив его в звуки и слова. В итоге получилась вдохновенная ницшеанская ода первому бунтарю — Люциферу. Музыканты обратили свой взор к темам одержимости злом, анти-религии и нигилизма, но получился не музыкальный портрет главного героя романа “Отцы и Дети”, как того можно было бы ожидать, а очень вдохновенный и мистичный релиз.
Первое что бросается в глаза — отличный жирный звук и великолепный вокал. Звук — совершенно не блэковый, а скорее дарк-блэковый. Ассоциации с эти направлением вызывают и риффы, послушайте хоть открывающую альбом вещь “Devilution”. Гулкое, почти шаманское дум, дум-дум-дум, дум-дум-дум, дум-дум-дум моментально воскрешает в сознании Ajattara, Barathrum…да и не только их одних! Ребята нарезают так, что аж чад и копоть лезут из колонок. Кстати, даже значки в буклете напоминают команду Паси Коскинена.
Темп исполнения по большей части медленный, но в начале второй вещи под названием “Ov Spiders” нас ждут громоподобные раскаты ударных, и кто-то явно неслабо нажимает на педаль газа. Скорость увеличивается, и мы слышим по сути всё то же самое, что и в открывающей альбом композиции, но в ритме раз эдак в пять выше, чем в зачине. Такой же блэковой шаманизм, но на скоростях, чуть более характерных и привычных для чернушного металла. Вокал становится ещё свирепее, а слова как отбойным молотком вбиваются в сознание одно за другим.
Ещё более блэковое скрипение гитар и почти канонический ураган ударных встречают нас в третьей главе, именующейся “Iblis”. В этом треке даже название фонетически напоминает финский, и характерное для Ajattara “Verivalta, Erivalta Eri ihminen, On veri ihmisen valta“. И снова традиционное для этой группы среднетемповое камлание в завершающей диск титульной вещи. Неспешная паутина нижних гитарных струн, отрывистый форсированный скрим, перемежающийся с припевами-проклятиями, основательные риффы и мегакачественный для блэка такой направленности звук.
Ритуальное оформление со странными начертаниями, напоминающими скалопись народов крайнего Севера отлично дополняет ощущение от релиза, рассыпаясь пространным многоточием, которое буквально не оставляет мне шансов, чтобы поставить диску что-нибудь другое, кроме высшей оценки. Ребята пополнили армию интеллектуальных блэкеров и присоединились к таким командам, как Iscarioth, Artificum Nex и Devilgroth, слегка разбавив характерные для них стилистические особенности этно-вкраплениями, а на выходе мы имеем отличный occult black, который можно и нужно слушать внимательно и в хорошем качестве.

L'esordio dei Temple of Nihil invece si rivolge solo agli amanti irriducibili del black metal. 'Soul Extremist' (Symbol of Domination/Narcoleptica Prod.) soffre sulle prime di una scarsa coesione tra le varie parti delle canzoni, che sono acerbe, ma con tante parti diverse: è come se il duo si concentri troppo su un segmento, suonando quel riff per un minuto o due, per poi svegliarsi all'improvviso e capire che per ravvivare la canzone bisogna fare altro. "Devilution" è una partenza un po' legnosa, ma il tiro si aggiusta quasi subito, gli altri tre pezzi sono più interessanti nella loro grotta spoglia in cui si ascoltano solo album di Gorgoroth e Marduk. La produzione è discreta, forse un po' troppo pulita, ma aver acquisito già una certa stabilità formale fa ben sperare che con qualche accorgimento il successore di questo EP possa essere più riuscito. Altrimenti niente, rimarranno nella melma come i Corpus Diaboli.
Duo russo que se move pelos meandros do black metal mais moderno (em termos de produção pelo menos) e que tem aqui neste EP "Soul Extremist" o primeiro lançamento da sua carreira. São quatro temas onde as melodias salientam-se, assim como a bateria programada (ou pelo menos assim nos parece) e o trabalho das guitaras. Vai buscar um pouco da força que o underground do novo black metal apresentava no início do milénio e junta-lhe um feeling bem metal. Não vai impressionar nenhum dos veteranos nem apresenta nada de novo, mas é um lançamento válido para uma banda em início de carreira e deixa-nos com vontade de ouvir mais. (F.F.)

There is some strange and weird aspects regarding “Soul Extremist”, the first output by TEMPLE OF NIHIL from Russia. Superficially listening to the four songs my first thinking was a mixture of early IMMORTAL (especially the vocals) and some slower paced Death Metal riffs. But after having a closer look respectively an in-depth study I have noticed the above mentioned strange and weird aspects. Those seductive, tempting and tantalizing melodies. Jon Nödtveidt (R.I.P.) of DISSECTION would have been proud of these melodies. So, since the term “melodic Death Metal” has become more a warning label instead of an indication of quality, it is a very good feeling to know that a band like TEMPEL OF NIHIL carrying the flame DISSECTION once enlightened with “Storm Of The Light's Bane”. Eagerly awaiting a full-length!

Russland scheint heutzutage eine extrem lebendige Black Metal-Szene aufzuweisen, der man allerdings hierzulande noch viel zu wenig Aufmerksamkeit zukommen lässt. Temple of Nihil aus Kaluga wären da ein gutes Beispiel. 2015 gegründet folgte ein Jahr später die erste EP, momentan arbeiten die 2 Jungs am ersten Album. Grund genug die EP mal unter die Lupe zu nehmen.
Von den Bandphotos ist eine sehr okkulte Ausrichtung der Band zu erahnen was sich teilweise auch in der Musik der Band wiederspiegelt. Der Sound passt soweit, ist schön energiegeladen und die Instrumente deutlich zu erkennen und düsterer, langsamer Black Metal schiebt sich auf den Hörer zu und baut von Beginn an eine pechschwarze Atmosphäre auf, die sich im Verlauf der EP sogar noch weiter verdichtet. Neben den ruhigeren Parts preschen die Jungs auch immer wieder wild und roh nach vorne, lassen der Aggression freien Lauf und knüppeln sich durch die Songs. Dabei lassen sich auch tiefe Death Metal-Riffs ausmachen, generell scheint Death Metal im Sound der Russen relativ präsent zu sein und so schleicht sich eine Ähnlichkeit zu den schwedischen Dissection ein, die sich nicht leugnen lässt. In den 4 Songs der EP geht es ordentlich zur Sache und Temple of Nihil zeigen gleich auf ihrem ersten Lebenszeichen, dass von ihnen noch Großes zu erwarten ist, denn die Songs sind allesamt düster, roh, aggressiv, abwechslungsreich und mit gutem Songwriting-Talent gesegnet worden und bilden so eine herrliche schwarze Messe von gut 25 Minuten.
Temple of Nihil und die beiden Musiker Corpse und Draug, die für das Projekt verantwortlich sind, sollte man unbedingt auf dem Schirm behalten, denn „Soul Extremist“ lässt auf viel hoffen und macht bereits etliches richtig. Von der okkulten Atmosphäre über die Aggression bis zum abwechslungsreichen und interessanten Songwritings mit Death Metal-Einflüssen passt alles und so wartet man gespannt auf den ersten Longplayer.

This is a band name that I have seen before. But looking through the archive at battlehelm.com I cannot find that I have done anything on them before. So this is gonna be my virgin flight on the TEMPEL OF NIHIL airline. This is only an EP but I still feel that it is an appropriate way to start my journey with TEMPEL OF NIHIL. And seeing as this is supposedly the debut release from the band there is not much else to choose from. This is heavy black metal in the Norwegian school of Gorgoroth and the likes. I am not saying that being repetitive is something wrong or even boring but that is what this is, it is repetitive. But in a good way. And that is what I like about the Norwegian sound of Burzum or early Mayhem. How they could make it interesting and cool.

Soul Extremist is the very first release by a young duo (I do not know whether the members are young – just like I am – but the project was formed in 2015, and that’s what I meant with ‘young’ – except, once again, compared to my juvenile virility…). They’re called Temple Of Nihil, hailing from the Kaluga Oblast, somewhere in between Moscow at the one hand, and Ukraine and Belarus at the other.
Their first recording, Soul Extremist, gets released by Kazakhstani label Narcoleptica Productions and mighty Symbol Of Domination Productions, the latter being a side-division of the great Saint-Petersburg based Satanath Records (owned by Satanath / Abigorum frontman Alex K.). The 8-page booklet jewel-box is available within an edition of 500 copies worldwide, and it includes quite occult artwork by Vladimir ‘Smerdylak’ Chebakov, also known for his assistance on releases of, for example, Rossomahaar, Katalepsy, Melancholy, Semargl, Arkona or Psilocybe Larvae, amongst many others. This four-tracker lasts for twenty-five minutes, indeed with four tracks that last in between five and seven minutes each.
What this two-men army brings is a grandiose some kind of Post-oriented, and still ‘traditional’, Melodic Extreme Metal. Temple Of Nihil’s material is diverse in tempo, yet always focusing on one single aim. Let’s take that first track, called Devilution, for example. It’s a mainly slowed-down Post-Black creation, comparable to some of the later Mayhem songs (instrumental-wise, not when talking about vocals or the production), or stuff à la Vesania or Panchrysia. This piece has so much to offer, with a huge diversification in speed and structure at the one hand, and a fabulous equilibrium in between melody and fierceness at the other. The power of the rhythm section goes so fabulously hand in hand with the lead sections (hey, listen to those leads towards the end; aren’t they just excellent, especially in combination with those wonderful rhythms section parts?!). Temple Of Nihil succeeds to keep on that high level whole of the time, going for the slower passages, the mid-tempo ones, as well as the faster outbursts. Ov Spiders, for example, is such a track that defines the magnificent execution of this Russian project. Sometimes it’s like a volcanic eruption, pyroclastic-wise, devastating the listener’s eardrums; then again, the massive loudness of utterly doomy heaviness creates, in its own way, a comparable devastating cruelness. And still then, Temple Of Nihil maintain that grandiose melodic aspect, that superior and magnificent feeling of superior reliability. The tracks Iblis and Soul Extremist, for example, even go further – just imagine that fluently elaborated persecution of blasting passages, harmonious excerpts and melodic parts, all with permanently interacting solos, tempo-changes, rhythm shifts and so much more. Especially the first one out of the two songs mentioned perfects that balance. But the latter too, the title track, is like a symbiosis of all majestic and magisterial aspects that this band stands for.
Anyway, for some reason I do not want to go deeper into the subject right no, I decided, when I wanted to go on with this webzine, to quote all reviews with a score completed to a multiple of five. Actually, I wanted to score this release with – well, no, it does not matter; I don’t like scores, for it’s a momentary expression, but I feel like… It was something like 92/100, yet seen the completion… …for what it’s worth, of course… Let’s agree that this EP is just a grandiose, superb recording!

Безлимитное зло проливается из колонок, ДЕМОНстрируя небыструю всеохватность, а потом и истребительное намерение. Местами чуть ли не блэк-дум. А может быть и...
Совместный релиз с Narcoleptica Prod.
Калужские блэк-металлисты объединились в едином порыве и выпустили сабжевую эпишку. И это пока. Далее есть намерение создать траков ужаса и мизантропии поболее и, вероятно, замахнуться на полноформат. Так, во всяком случае, заявлено в пресс-релизе издающей конторы.
И знаете, в это намерение верится, хотя и кончается 17-й год, потому что экстремальный дуэт музыкантов на этом диске нарубил четверку добротных траков эзотерического блэк металла общим временем более 25 минут (раньше такие альбомы выходили)) ), такого, который придется по вкусу самому широкому круга профильных металлюг.
Начиная с медленных и тягучих риффов, проходов и развевающихся аудиальных полотнищ черного и темного цвета, группа показывает глубину замысла - истинно мизантропический экскурс в пещеры подсознания. (Заявлено, кстати, что в текстовом плане ребята обращаются к Ницше. Пусть так.) Но, как видится, звуковая обработка идет именно в хирургическом плане, когда композер обращает свой скрипичный ключ в скальпель и смело хватается за душу слушателя, или что там от нее осталось. Препарирование духовных состояний идет прямо в рамках аудиального послания. Это чувствуется по давящим и буквально прессующим гулким коридорам ритм-секции, черным родникам солирующих струнных, и собственно, по вокалу - как по главному так и и бэковому, что в поддержке выступает очень достойно.
Ритмически альбом все-таки поразнообразнее, чем просто блэк дум (я написал это??? странно). Композер использует наряду с неспешными терроризирующими пролетами и более быстрые темпы для захвата внимания слушателя, для акцента на определенных важных моментах своего послания. И например, в траке 2 интересных сбивок и переходов немало, таких которые цепляют внимание слушателя. А в трэке три дело доходит до откровенного порно(зачеркнуто) забоя, небокрушительного и одновременного логичного и понятного в идее композиции. В блиц-опросе участники команды подтвердили что драмсы - электронные, но также заявили, что в будущем полноформате (ага, все-таки будет!!!) планируется живой ударник.
Гитареро TEMPLE OF NIHIL — приличный монстр своего дела, и кажется без его опыта и таланта собственно нечего было бы и начинать. Вся темная фэнтезийность мелодического мышления этого диска пропущена сквозь его инструмент и уверен, что его черные (и не такие уж и черные, но всегда изобретательные) изыски найдут свой отклик в сердцах любителей жанра.
Смоляной мистической черноты и хрипоты добавляет вокалист формирования, его скриминговая отработка (иногда в лучших традициях Иммортал) держит в напряжении все время этого диска. И в быстрых, и в медленных локациях он на своем месте, и буквально проникает сквозь плоть компо как острозаточенное сверло, исполняя роль и перфоратора, и связующей стальной нити, которая стягивает эти четыре трака в одно цельное произведение.

Symbol of Domination (Belarus) with Narcoleptica Productions (Kazakhstan) decided to cooperate to release Russian Black Metallers Temple of Nihil's 4-track debut EP at the end of December 2016. Temple of Nihil are a 2-man Black Metal band, namely Corpse and Draug. To me, they sound like a Russian version of Finland's infamous Barathrum, having bits of Doom Metal incorporated into their occasionally dragging, eerie Black Metal sound. And when the band shifts into the faster gear, they remind me quite a lot of Immortal, which cannot be disliked either. In other words, there's a lot of to be liked in Temple of Nihil as they have crafted their own very effective Black Metal recipe, which shows they know deep down that Black Metal is all about grimness, coldness, and hopelessness. Even if the band comes from the South-West region of Russia of Kaluga, they sound like they could have come from far up north; all this dark, freezing coldness in their sound truly comes through the songs, which, I for one, value highly. It isn't an easy game to make convincing Black Metal, and this is where Temple of Nihil have done a very nice (but not extraordinary) job.

Temple of Nihil es una banda de black metal de Rusia y este es su EP debut. Este dúo (Corpse y Draug se hacen llamar), se especializa en black metal oculto con un tono de guitarra crudo y una personalidad demoníaca ideal para este estilo de musica.
El EP cuenta con un sonido sólido, con buenos solos de guitarra, dando la impresión de que la banda le gusta el metal clásico y el metal negro de la primera ola junto con sus influencias más obvias de la segunda ola.
Cuatro pistas implacables y despiadadas, tanto en su intención como en la dirección enfocada. El uso de diferentes velocidades muestra una banda cómoda con su entrega, sin sentir la necesidad de esconderse detrás de la intensidad todo el tiempo.
“Soul Extremist” es sin dudas un EP compacto, y Temple of Nihil ha demostrado su experiencia en su lanzamiento debut. Chequéenlo.

Das terras gélidas e obscuras da Rússia vem as nossas mãos este EP da banda ‘’ Temple of Nihil ‘’ chamado ‘’ Soul Extremist ‘’ lançado em 2016, um Black Metal com uma temática mais oculta do que simplesmente distorção e letras macabras. Este EP, apesar de ser originário de um estilo bem barulhento nos permite distinguir seus instrumentos com bastante distinção, algo incomum ao gênero.
As faixas possuem uma boa qualidade de gravação e execução, não deixando a sua essência ser esquecida por sua fluidez e por seu som aparentemente muito limpo para o estilo, não se engane com este EP, o Black Metal está bem representado no mesmo.
A ‘’ Temple of Nihil ‘’ nos traz solos de guitarras que nos remete a primeira onda do Black Metal, mas sem fugir das melodias negras fundamentais ao estilo. O EP traz uma variação distinta de velocidade dando a ele um diferencial muito importante e de grande qualidade para a nova geração que sempre buscam novidades, mas com a tradição sendo mantida para saciar a horda Black Metal.
