This is a review of a split album between Costa Rica's Assailant and Ubiquitous Realities called "Bringers Of Delusion" which was released as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination Productions and Cavan Records and we will start off the review with Assailant which plays an old school form of thrash metal.
Their side of the split starts out with a very melodic and old school bay Area style guitar lead and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording and when vocals are added into the music they are very aggressive thrash style screams that are more in tune with the heavier side of the genre.
Clean playing can be heard in some parts of the songs and the music also brings in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and you can also hear a touch of early death metal at times and there is also a brief use of blast beats along with the music also mixing in technical elements, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover social issues.
In my opinion Assailant are a very great sounding old school thrash metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "The Leading Spectre" and "Suspension Of Disbelief".
Next up is Ubiquitous Realities and band that plays a progressive and technical style of brutal death metal.
Their side of the split starts out with spoken word samples before going into a very fast and brutal technical death metal direction along with some blast beats and growling vocals and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and high pitched screams can also be heard at times.
Throughout their side of the recording there is a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and the riffs also mix in a small amount of melody and when solos and leads are added into t he music they give the songs more of a melodic and progressive death metal edge, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover philosophical themes.
In my opinion Ubiquitous Realities are a very great sounding technical and progressive brutal death metal band and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out their side of the split. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Bringers Of Malevolence" and "Alterated Perception I".
In conclusion i feel this is a very great sounding split and I would recommend it to all fans of thrash and technical death metal.

This is a split CD of a couple Costa Rican bands. Assailant is a great thrash metal band with a great mix of old school thrash and a new fresh technical sound as well. Great heavy riffs and vocals. They incorporate a very technical aspect in the bass and guitar leads. They create a nice merger of the two and definitely have the ability to grab the ear of metalheads from every age. We should be hearing a lot more of these guys. Ubiquitous Realities are a new school technical death metal band in the likes of a lot of the bands you find on Metal Blade records now days. Some really great technical leads and progressive playing here. The bass and guitars sound really schooled and educated. Good growling and heaviness on the vocals as well. Another good metal band to watch out for in the future. I think its cool labels are still willing to do split albums. It’s a good way to get more young bands out there. This is a good split CD that is well worth picking up.
This split EP of two of the finest groups to come out of Costa Rica: Assailant and Ubiquitous Realities is potent enough in their respective categories of tech-thrash/death and old school death metal.
First band up, Assailant presents us with their four tracks of mind bending, muscle contorting and brain shrinking tech-thrash metal with some hints of death metal. This quartet bring influences from Atheist, Death, Cynic and Pestilence to give the listener a mind numbing punch to the head, leaving them lifeless. Yes, the music on the four cuts featured on this EP is packed with intricately crafted melodies, tongue and cheek bass hooks, Kreator-esque and Atheist reminiscent vocal abuse. The drumming at times reminds of Sean Reinert from Cynic, but Assailant pounds their skins hard enough to make you writhe in fear. Despite, the recording mix being thin in places and not letting the lead guitars shine throughout; Assailant is a top-notch act and a strong contender within the global extreme metal scene.
The second band, a duo in the form of Ubiquitous Realities just knocks the living shit out of the listener. Their skull shattering guitar, bass rhythms and guttural vocals sound like a demon rising from the fiery depths of the abyss. These guys certainly reminded me of early Suffocation, Morbid Angel in their heyday, but with more of their own sound and style of intensity.
“Bringers Of Malevolence”, “Biological Demise”, “Alterated Perception I” and “Alterated Perception II” make up their four-song EP, and there is enough heaviness and blistering power, which makes this duo’s death metal such an interesting listen. This split EP is highly recommended, as tech-thrash and death metal do not get any insane than what’s featured on this CD.

ASSAILANT stammen aus Costa Rica, hatten 2012 schon mal ein Demo am Start und kommen nun mit einer neuen Split an, bei der sie auch den Anfang machen. Dieser nennt sich „The Leading Spectre“ und den kann man unter dem Banner des old school Thrash stellen, doch die Jungs sind so cool drauf, dass sie zwischendurch mal frickeln wie die Weltmeister, auch mal einen Annihilator ähnlichen Akustik Part mit einstreuen, um erst gegen Ende des Songs wieder in reinen Thrash überzugehen. „Hands of the Saints“ kloppt einerseits voll drauf und man erinnert sich gerne an frühe Sepultura, aber wenn ASSAILANT wieder an fangen zu frickeln, sind sie voll in ihrem Element und da sind nicht nur die Klampfen befallen, auch der Bass wird gnadenlos gezupft. „Suspension of Disbelief“ hört sich fast ein wenig nach altem Crossover an mit seinem Leck Mich am Arsch Groove, doch auch hier lassen die Jungs die Finger fliegen, was ich ja nicht schlecht finde, man darf es eben nur nicht übertreiben. Die Hoffnung auf eine durchgehend knackige Thrash Nummer wird hier und da mal mit ihrem Break Fimmel zunichte gemacht, aber zum Glück wird das hier nicht übertrieben.
Nun sind UBIQUITOUS REALITIES mit ihrem Debüt dran und nach einem Sample Part in „Bringers of Malevolence“ wird hier auf unbarmherzige Art flotter, brutaler und technisch versierter Death Metal geboten, der mit einem ordentlichen Druck und unbändiger Power aus den Boxen knallt. Bei „Biological Demise“ wird nicht lange gefackelt, ein bisschen Frickeln und dann volles Kanne Highspeed ist hier auf der Agenda. Gnade walten lassen die Jungs nicht, nur das volle Tempo weicht am Ende donnernden Double Bass Parts, die wie ein Donnerhall wirken und das Solo feurig scharf kommt. So pfeilschnell „Alterated Perception I“ auch beginnt, von der einen auf die andere Sekunde gehen die Costa Ricaner in vertracktes, donnerndes Mid Tempo runter und pushen sich erst gegen Ende der Nummer wieder auf die Überholspur, während „Alterated Perception II“ ein instrumentaler, technischer Song ist.
ASSAILANT kriegen gute 6 von 10 Punkten, UBIQUITOUS REALITIES gefallen mir besser und das macht 7,1 von 10 Punkten.

A pair of Costa Rican acts, Assailant being a rather modern-sounding thrash act who dabble wayyyyyy too much in atonality and polytonal structures for my taste. A promo name check of Cynic is patently false, but their likening to Atheist falls closer to the mark.
Picture a more spastic Atheist with the pinched vocals of early Believer crossed with those of Atrophy, then make it more atonal and, let’s be honest here, hit any fucking note and hope it sounds good than any of the aforementioned acts.
Nooooooo way.
Ubiquitous Realities…well, there’s a reason they’re on this split.
It’s more particularly death metal in orientation, but think a spastic take on…I don’t even know who to compare this to. It’s not latter-day Gorguts, nor is it Suffocation or later Death.
You know who this reminded me of most? A far less likeable riff on Unexpect.

Strana uscita questa, in quanto esce leggermente dai canoni sonori dell’etichetta, ma poco male. Allora gli Assailant sono dei ragazzacci dalla Costa Rica (!!!) che ci propongono un Thrash vecchio stampo mischiato a del sano Black veloce. Il risultato farà contento qualsiasi fan dei Bathory come degli Slayer. Solo un po’ più di melodia e arpeggi rispetto ai due grupponi citati. Ma la passione c’è tutta, quindi tanto basta per dire che siamo di fronte ad un gruppo più che buono. I connazionali che occupano la seconda parte dell’album invece propongono musica decisamente più tecnica ma allo stesso tempo più brutale. Con le dovute cautele, possiamo scomodare i Necrophagist meno tecnici uniti ad una buona dose di Brutal tecnico ed ecco il risultato. Quattro tracce senza respiro, tutte rigorosamente in apnea per un mattone sonoro che vi terrà inchiodati alla poltrona. Probabilmente gli unici due gruppi metal della Costa Rica racchiusi in un unico dischetto. Che volete di più?!

De nouveau, traversons l’Océan Atlantique pour nous rendre en Amérique Centrale via ce split album « Bringers Of Delusion » réunissant deux groupes du Costa Rica. D’un côté, vous avez ASSAILANT originaire de Heredia, de l’autre, UBIQUITOUS REALITIES qui est en provenance de Perez Zeledon.
Ce split album démarre avec ASSAILANT fondé en 2010. Auteur de « Demo 2012 », une démo au nom évocateur sortie en septembre 2012 comportant cinq morceaux, le quatuor nous propose quatre nouvelles compositions réalisées avec les moyens du bord. Ici, on évolue dans un thrash metal old school mêlé à des approches progressives tant sur les structures que les solos. Cela se vérifie même sur « Delusions », le morceau le plus court. Ensuite, détenteur d’une grosse partie centrale dénuée de chant, « The Leading Spectre » se voit ponctué de trois phases solos. Via « Suspension Of Desbelief », des touches techno thrash ressortent. Notez au passage que ces deux compositions possèdent un lead arrivant sur une ambiance plus aérienne. Du côté de « Hands Of The Saints », des teintes speed thrash s’invitent dans l’édifice et on rencontrera également la présence du plus long solo.
Désormais, place à UBIQUITOUS REALITIES fondé en 2014 / 2015. Le duo évolue dans un death metal assez brutal, technique et soutenu par une voix bien caverneuse. Ce split album représente à priori les débuts discographiques des costariciens. Sur les quatre morceaux, la colère se manifeste principalement sur les deux premiers. On notera que le groupe, lorsqu’il n’est pas énervé, reste puissant et peut même devenir écrasant. Ce dernier point se vérifie lors du long final de « Brings Of Malevolence », composition prenant son temps pour démarrer. Concernant le bi-polaire « Biological Demise », on relèvera le déluge de notes lors du lead. Ensuite, la voix se manifeste tardivement sur « Alterated Perception I » qui met en scène quelques sonorités à la MESHUGGAH tout comme le surprenant « Alterated Perception II ». Ce dernier, fermant la marche, est un instrumetal mais aussi le seul morceau posé du lot. Dans sa musique, le duo y incorpore des arrangements, de la guitare claire, un solo avec une pluie de notes et même une petite influence canadienne. Indéniablement, UBIQUITOUS REALITIES expose clairement qu’il a encore des atouts en maisn.
Avec ce split album, vous avez la possibilité de découvrir deux formations du Costa Rica qui suscitent la curiosité pour l’avenir, notamment à travers un album.

Когда вы видите сплит двух костариканских групп, одной трэшевой, другой дэтовой, какие первые мысли приходят в голову? Наверняка, это какой-то эксклюзивный, но сугубо андерграундный релиз исключительно для любителей экзотики, имеющий скорее коллекционную ценность, чем музыкальную. Но к Bringers Of Delusion более применим другой эпитет – «лучший металл из Коста-Рики»! Потому что качество и оригинальность материала может приятно удивить даже самых привередливых критиков.
Открывает сплит Assailant, мгновенно сражающий заковыристым, но очень драйвовым техничным thrash metal, самым близким аналогом которого я бы назвал аж самих Coroner с их первыми тремя релизами. Звучание достаточно олдскульное, хотя без характерного «песка» в гитарах, есть небольшие шероховатости по части техники, но все инструменты хорошо «читаемы», в миксе немного выделяется бас и слега «задраны» тарелки. Надрывный харш-вокал слегка напоминает молодого Мартина Ван Дрюнена на дебютнике Pestilence «Malleus Maleficarum». Одним словом, все параллели можно провести с сугубо олдовыми, но весьма знаковыми исполнителями.
Но главным козырем Assailant всё-таки я бы назвал прогрессивное музыкальное мышление, которое выражается в нестандартном построении композиций. Смены ритмов порой непредсказуемы, костариканцы успевают в рамках одного трэка козырнуть акустическим фрагментом, где-то разогнаться до бластбитов и, конечно же, украсить всё продолжительными и весьма интересными соло, сыгранными с большим энтузиазмом. В итоге мы имеем 4 очень динамичные песни, насыщенные стилистическими вариациями и сложными структурами, которые могут порадовать как любителей олдскульного thrash-metal, так и ценителей technical death metal.
Казалось бы, что может быть лучше? Но, как ни странно, дальше следует непродолжительный речевой сэмпл (по всей видимости, сцена из какого-то фильма) и, как говорится, страсти накаляются. Технодэтовый дуэт Ubiquitous Realities (состоящий из гитариста-вокалиста и барабанщика) начинают на больших скоростях, строй гитар у них заметно ниже, музыка значительно более тяжёлая, но не менее техничная. Низкий гуттурал с эпизодическим пигвойсом, взрывные бластбиты, чередующиеся с качовыми моментами и также наличие вменяемых соло приятно радует качеством – особенно с учётом того, что обе группы представили свою дебютные записи.
Первые две мощные агрессивные композиции Ubiquitous Realities на стыке technical death и Texas brutal death metal уступают место двум более ритмически неожиданным трэкам, которые идут без пауз и представляют собой составные части двулогии Alterated Perception. И если первая часть также состоит из быстрых моментов, но с продолжительными тягучими фрагментами, то инструментальное продолжение демонстрирует уход на территорию djent-ового среднетемпового кача, украшенного красивыми атмосферными пост-метальными гитарами и, опять же, неплохими продуманными соло.
Одним словом, крайне интересное музыкальное путешествие длиной в 32,5 минуты можно смело посоветовать любителям прогрессивного экстрима – причём, как олдскульного, так и модернового. Я уверен, многие смогут оценить потенциал талантливых костариканцев, которые серьёзно заявили о своих творческим амбициях на этом блестящем дебютном сплите! Остаётся надеяться, что на достигнутом музыканты не остановятся и ещё запишут не один альбом – совместно или отдельно, потому что высокая планка, установленная с первых работ, можно сказать, ко многому обязывает.

Direction le Costa Rica cette fois ci pour nous intéresser à deux groupes d’une seule traite : Assailant et leur thrash old school et technique puis Ubiquitous Realities et leur death brutal technique et beaucoup plus actuel.
Les deux combos se partagent 4 titres chacun pour un peu plus de 30 minutes d’un carnage annoncé, et ce carnage nous est proposé à nouveau par Symbol Of Domination Productions (sub division de Satanath Records).
Alors, Assailant proposent, comme dit précédemment, un thrash bien énergique avec une touche old school bien trempée sur les passages rapides et les soli, mais également un côté beaucoup plus technique et progressif à la Sadist ou encore Cynic.
Les sud américains maîtrisent parfaitement le côté technique à grands coups de cassures de rythmes, de variations et de montées en puissance.
Prenez « Hands Of The Saints » qui défouraille dès le départ avec cette puissante batterie et cette gratte déchaînée au toucher hystérique.
Le rythme s’alourdit, le solo y va de bon cœur. Les vocaux collent parfaitement à l’énergie thrash old school : éraillée et bien énervée, les plus nostalgiques apprécieront.
Une bonne démonstration de thrash aussi cinglant que technique aux rythmiques parfois improbables : Assailant gère décidément bien l’affaire.
La claque s’opère sur « Suspension Of Disbelief » et ce début totalement barré (côté barré qui d’ailleurs sera conservé tout au long du titre »).
Basse claquante, rythme de damné et gros solo qui tâche. Cette basse, elle aussi en impose tout du long, les structures sont riches en folie, le boulot appuyé aussi en font un morceau bigrement costaud.
Accélérations puis passages assez lents (facile celle là) et plus psychédéliques, le groupe fera des fans de Coroner et thrash 90s.
Ensuite pour Ubiquitous Realities, nous faisons dans le plus gras et le plus mordant, dans le plus dégoulinant et bourrin. Du bon gros brutal death qui fout la race.
Niveau technique, on fait dans le bien costaud.
La rythmique mitraille sévèrement, le blast est ultra violent, les grattes usent d’une rapidité affolante,et la voix (ô oui cette voix!) tape dans le très guttural.
« Bringers Of Malevolence » pose déjà la première pierre dans la tronche de l’auditeur. Les parties lourdes sont explosives et percutent sec.
Le côté impitoyable du brutal death proposé se confirme sur « Biological Demise ».
On alterne aisément entre le brutal death et le brutal plus lourd et groovy qui décroche des centaines de têtes.
On prend plaisir à la férocité avec laquelle U.R. opère. « Alterated Perception » diffère, avec ce côté plus atmosphérique, presque djent sur certains moments, intro instrumentale bien longue, mais cette touche atmosphérique s’évapore ensuite pour laisser place à une massive explosion de ‘bétonnade’.
S’en suit logiquement « Alterated Perception II » qui reste dans cette lignée djent du titre précédent et qui donc là, pour l’occasion, conclue la barbarie de manière totalement instrumentale tel le générique de fin de ce split.
Technique et old school d’un côté, bestial et technique de l’autre, la collaboration costa ricaine se fait efficace et nous permet de découvrir une scène intéressante sur laquelle nous n’avons pas forcément l’habitude de nous attarder.
Split que nos traz duas propostas da Costa Rica praticamente estreantes. Por um lado temos o death/thrash técnico dos Assailant, a lembrar os primórdios do género e bandas como Atheist e por outro lado temos o death metal mais bruto mas igualmente técnico dos Ubiquitous Realities. Não é propriamente um conjunto que encaixe muito bem mas para compensar, ambas as bandas são muito boas sendo difícil de comparar porque efectivamente os campos são diferentes, tendo em comum apenas o factor técnico, como já foi referido atrás.
Os Assailant apresentam-se com uma produção inferior, algo abafada e com o volume baixo, mas com quatro temas de qualidade inegável, fazendo-nos recuar até aos primórdios da década de noventa onde este tipo de proposta era mais exótica mas também típica. Da outra face da mesma moeda temos os Ubiquitous Realities, que apesar do nome não lembrar o diabo apresentam-nos um death metal pesadão mas bem diverso e técnico, indo em alguns momentos por pormenores jazz que acentam como uma luva - "Alterated Perception II". Se os Assailant acabam por causar um bom impacto imediatamente, os segundos acabaram por nos conquistar com as repetidas audições. No geral fica-se a ganhar por esta amostra vencedora do underground da Costa Rica.

Assailant:
1st track, The Leading Spectre. Vocals like Tom Araya and some Guitar Riff like Voivod. A Thrash Metal song with some Accoustic Guitar lick and Jazz Fusion. A Great Opening song. 2nd track, Hands of the Saints. Changeable composition, from Thrash to Jazz. Jazz Fusion and Chaotic Cymbal. 3rd track, Suspension of disbelief. Heavy Bass lick on the early part made this song so Groovy and the Vocals, Guitar and Drums like Voivod. More Progressive and More Jazz than Voivod. 4th track, Delusions. Slayer and Jazz.
For Assailant part, Jazz more dominant than Vocals.
Ubiquitous Realities:
5th track, Bringers of Malevolence. Started with a dialogue and then followed with Brutal Music, Drums Blasting and Complex Guitar Lick. 6th track, Biological Demise. Low Guitar Riff, Fry Brutal and Good Guitar Solo. 7th track, Alterated Perception I. Brutal and Djent. That’s my description about this song. 8th track, Alterated Perception II. Continued of Alterated Perception I, like previous track. This Instrumental Djent song. This song really made us slightly tipsy.
Amazing Thrash with Jazz Fusion from Assailant and the Brutallity and the Djent of Ubiquitous Realities.

Symbol of Domination Prod. ci presenta, con questo split album, due gruppi provenienti dal Costarica, lembo di terra che divide il continente americano e che si affaccia sul mercato metallico con sempre più convinzione.
La prima band in questione sono i prog/thrashers Assailant, quartetto che arriva con Bringers Of Delusion alla seconda uscita sul mercato, che segue di ben quattro anni il primo demo, licenziato nel 2012.
Tanto tempo è passato, un peccato perché il gruppo merita oltremodo con il suo thrash metal ultra tecnico e progressivo che non lascia sicuramente indifferente chi ha modo di ascoltarne la proposta.
Amalgamando la vecchia scuola nata nella Bay Area con quella europea dai rimandi progressivi, i quattro musicisti centro americani stupiscono per l’alta qualità tecnica ed un’arguzia compositiva sopra le righe, lasciando un’ottima impressione e molta aspettativa (almeno nel sottoscritto).
I quattro brani presentati oltre ad esssre suonati molto bene, fanno rizzare le orecchie ai fans del thrash più evoluto, presentandosi come una perfetta amalgama tra Voivod, Death Angel ed i tedeschi Mekong Delta, peccando solo per una produzione che, con maggiore cura, avrebbe ancor più valorizzato le traccie proposte.
Una band da seguire, così come gli Ubiquitous Realities, duo che fa del technical death metal dai rimandi brutal il suo credo e che con lo split in questione da il via alla sua carriera nel mondo del metal estremo.
Prodotte meglio rispetto ai brani dei loro connazionali, le quattro canzoni presentate convincono presentandoci una band pronta per un eventuale full lenght, specialmente se manterrà le caratteristiche qui riscontrate: buona tecnica, ed un talento per miscelare a dovere metal estremo e sfumature progressive con maturità e freschezza compositiva.
Bringers Of Delusion risulta uno dei migliori split usciti negli ultimi tempi in campo estremo, poiché dà spazio a due realtà che, pur provenendo da un paese fuori dai circuiti abituali, hanno le carte in regola per crearsi il proprio spazio nel vasto mondo del metal underground.

"Bringers Of Delusion" is an interesting split album from two really good Costarican bands, released by Symbol Of Domination Productions. ASSAILANT has been active since 2010. They also released a demo tape back in 2012. Their side of this split includes 4 songs. The first time I listened to this, it reminded me of DEATH ANGEL's "The Ultra-Violence" with a little WATCHTOWER's "Control And Resistance" thrown in. Maybe because the band plays a fast to mid-paced Thrash Metal with a lot of technical nuances. These guys came up with some well structured songs, full of catchy riffs and different rhythm patters. And I would highlight the scream-type vocals and those tasty leads. There is a lot of variation going on to keep things interesting. Maybe, the only thing that threw me off a little is the the acoustic part in 'Suspension Of Disbelief'. Other than that, these guys are headed in the right direction and they have a lot of space to evolve and build on their specific style and identity. The production is heavy and organic, with a well rounded mix. So, it has all that raw, old school charm without sounding over processed or artificial. Great stuff overall! On the other side of "Bringers Of Delusion" we have UBIQUITOUS REALITIES. These guys started as NOTHINGARIAN in 2012 and back then, they caught my attention with a couple songs they had uploaded to YouTube. After some years of radio silence and a name change, this is their first official release, which also includes 4 songs. Nowadays, the band is a duo, with Sebastian on the drums and Hamid on guitars / bass / vocals. And I can say that they have taken their style to another level of brutality. Early SUFFOCATION comes to mind immediately. There are also some atmospheric parts that work really good as well. Brilliant guitar and drum performances with some deep growls and soaring leads. Actually, I was amazed by how clean the mix is, given that their music is so dense and maniacal. The production fits their style perfectly: huge, heavy and tight as fuck! Personally, I would ditch the pig squeals (don't worry, these don't happen too often), but other than that, this is top notch brutal and technical Death Metal.

Out February 27th 2016 was an interesting split album from two Costa Rican band: ‘Bringers of Delusion‘, featuring Assailant, a thrash metal act, and Ubiquitous Realities, a death metal band; album launched via Symbol Of Domination Productions and Cavan Records.
For the first half, Assailant brings amazing solos and fast rhythmic riffs that paves the way for the second part, led by Ubiquitous Realities, where they shred the rest of the album tearing everything down in guttural madness and terrific doom.

If there is one continent where metal is booming last years, it is South America. There is also a metal legion in the smaller Costa Rica. The labels Symbol Of Domination from Belarus and Cavan Records from Costa Rica have joined forces and bring out the split album ‘Bringers Of Delusion’ where two Costa Rican bands Assailant and Uniquitous Realities may prove itself with bringing each four numbers .
Assailant was founded in 2010 and plays progressive thrash metal. The singing is a bit the death metal direction. Musically everything sounds good and there are a lot of melodic pieces contained. The first song 'The Leading Spectre’ follows the old school American thrash scene. ‘Suspension Of Disbelief’ is much more direction the progressive side and is mostly musical. The production sounds a bit poor so everything has a demo quality.
Ubiquitous Realities consists of the duo Sebastian Sanchez responsible for the drums and guitar player Hamid Rojas who also does the vocals or rather the roaring and grunting. Their ‘Bringers Of Malevolence' starts with a long spoken word intro after which moves to blunt and brutal death metal grunt posed the grind direction. The first two songs are not really a surprise. Customize with 'alternated Perception Part I and II' the band shows more rhythm and musically it sounds much better.
Instead of playing blindly the music of their idols, both bands have the courage to experiment. It's still a bit of searching and steering in the right direction but they both let all hear a lot of potential in their genre.

Что ж, этот день настал. И я держу в руках отъявленный сплит коста-риканского происхождения. Первая команда развлекалась ранее написанием демо. И вот - сплит с Ubiquitous Realities, у которой вообще ничего за душой не было. Зато теперь есть. Треш и дэт — неплохое металлическое соседство. Тем более некоторые добавочные теги этих формаций намекают на некий артистизм и предустановленную крутизну. Так что, посмотрим и уясним себе, что и как.
По четыре трака поделили формации между собой. И все для того, чтобы фэны указанной музыки поимели возможность потестить свои зубы = вкусить металлического пряника — реального компакт-диска. Все таки в Коста-рике ценят реальные вещи и ставят их превыше виртуальных. А как вы, например, полистаете буклет? Как взять в руки диск? Но, впрочем, прочь проблемы нами не создаваемые... прямиком через американские джунгли к воспроизводящему аппарату.
Я уже уяснил себе, что обе группы выпустили сабжевый сплит в целях показать себя с енной стороны, заявить свои претензии. НО поначалу, когда начал отрабатывать Assailant, я, право слово, был поражен, ибо исполнялся кондовый троглодитский трешак — забой, дичайший, как первый диск Сепы. Причем звучание придавало компо воистину сатанинское музыкальное обращение к пастве.
Я три раза прогнал это интро. Только такого интро вы и не слыхивали — оно спецом сделано БОЛЕЕ жестоким, чем дальнейший ход идей. С 1.27 вкл джазово-роковая-МЕТАЛЬНАЯ компо, с космическим соляком, нежно взвивающимся в небо... далее посыпался техно-треш - очень забористый, но не как самогон, а более похожий на ерш, бо там всякого разного так много несется, что теряешься.
Хотя что тут теряться, когда там идет водопад артистического гитарного полива, бурлящий, искрящийся, с громобойной ритм-секцией и с молниями, бьющими из самых солирующих инструментов ))). Гитареро здесь - это надо слущать... Может человек пять их? Нет, всего двое. Но это как бы, брате, коста-риканский САДИСТ. Шикарный, в суровом звуке, полыхающий, как огнемет.
Вокал тоже под стать этому музыкальному чудовищу — пещерный, хриплый, в диапазоне выше среднего, издает такие звуки, которые ставь, кажется, на сирену,... но впрочем, экскьюз, многие люди могут просто не разобраться, что за звуки — и их может пробить неожиданная диаррея (по простому понос) — и все это со страху. Подчеркиваю, зверо-треш играл полторы минуты, все остальное время Assailant создавал монструозные картины вселенского струнного разврата, неМНОГО бесноватые и много ажиотажные. Которые описывать малополезно, ибо полотно сменяется каждые 10 сек.
Это был такой розыгрыш, которого я и не ожидал. Внемлите и трепещите.
Часть вторая. Ubiquitous Realities. А впрочем вот этого всего прочего урагана можно было бы ожидать, если внимательно присмотреться к облоге диска, особливо, где лупатый инопланетчик косится на нашу планету, медленно соображая, кто ее уничтожит быстрее — сами людишки или все-таки вызвать боевых деструктивных роботов. Да рен там, никто их не зовет, они сами приходят. Я уже про четыре трека дэтовой ипостаси данного диска. Дэт тоже не спроста тут рубится - исполняется, но что-то уже сомневаюсь, что меня еще можно удивить.
После того как во введении невидимый артист с чувством обматерил собеседника, начинается настоящий дэтовый экзерцисс. И вроде все нормал, все ровно, ураганят реальне и долбливо. Технично и тактично. Боевые роботы. И вот когда нуло по низам первый раз, то тогда я понял: все очень серьезно. Уверяю, господа, обработку низких частот сделали какие-то коста-риканские или иные кудесники, обеспечивая провал в АД. Прописали на ура, будто стотонная подушка падает рядом с вами - такой удар получается ужасный и вполне гибельный, ибо если накроет, то не откопают...
Ubiquitous Realities смачно и атакующе подают брутал-дэтового мясца, на потребу самых жестоких ценителей дэт металла, призывно размахивая окровавленными гитарами, барабанами и микрофонами, призывая к своему каннибальскому кострищу фэнов смертельного жанра. Все тут получится и каждый поставит крестик в черном блокнотике, чтобы послушать еще пять раз завтра. Гитарист, кстати, использует свое служебное положение для того, чтобы завести где надо дополнительные солидные соло партии.
Но все-таки, что ни говори, низа здесь лупят очень енно. И совершенно точно могу сказать, что такой звук кодек не закодирует в богопротивные мпз, слишком здесь звук уходит в пол, прямо любуешься.
Вокалист в этой компании не подкачал. В среднем регистре орет чел, горловой надрыв здесь поливает невозбранно. И потому все-таки есть своя специфика. Гроул из низкой части голосовых связок — дело чудовищно трудное - но в итоге в смысле вокального террора весьма результативное.

Nuevamente el sello ruso Symbol of Domination fichando bandas centroamericanas a su catálogo, en este caso dos grupos costarricenses, Assailant y Ubiquitous Realities. Los splits siempre son una buena forma de darse a conocer y créanme que ambas no desaprovechan esta oportunidad.
Alistado en la vertiente más old-school del thrash, pero adicionándole una pizca de progresivo, el cuarteto Assailant (José Del Valle - voz y guitarra, Ricardo Arce – guitarra, Daniel Murillo – bajo, y Carlos Guillen – batería), desgrana todo su poderío en cuatro composiciones parejas y sólida. Si me preguntan, diré que tanto Atheist como Slayer y Obituary tienen un buen lugar en las influencias de Assailant.
Promediando el CD, es tiempo del dúo Ubiquitous Realities (Hamid Rojas Conejo – voz, guitarra, bajo, y Sebastián Sánchez Madriz – batería), y aquí la cosa se pone áspera a caballo de un death metal técnico sin tapujos ni descanso. Con una brutalidad acelerada al máximo, los dos primeros tracks marchan a paso firme y sin dejar nada en el camino, pero lo mejor llega al final con esa especie de opus casi instrumental dividido en dos partes que es “Altered perception”, donde la banda baja revoluciones y muestra lo mejor de sus habilidades musicales.
Finalizando, y como siempre digo, la verdad está en el under, y aquí hay dos nuevas bandas que merecen ser chequeadas. Denles una oportunidad.
