Morth are a solo project from Bulgaria that plays a very melodic, epic and atmospheric form of black metal and this is a review of his 2015 album "Towards the Endless Path" which will be released on December 14th as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination Productions and Acclaim Records.

A very melodic, epic and atmospheric sound starts off the album along with some synths and grim screams and you can also hear all of the musical instruments that are present on the recording along with the guitar solos and leads utilizing a great amount of melody and most of the tracks are very long and epic in length.

Most of the music sticks to either a slow or mid paced direction while the synths also mix in a small amount of symphonic and ambient elements at times while some of the guitar riffs do have a raw edge to them and you can also hear a great amount of talent and skill in the way the guitar solos and leads are performed and one track brings in a brief use of spoken word parts and on one of the tracks the music does speed up briefly.

Morth plays a style of black metal that is very slow and heavy while also being very melodic, epic and atmospheric at the same time, the production sounds very powerful while the lyrics cover death, eternity, human soul, pain, life and spirit.

In my opinion Morth are a very great sounding epic, atmospheric and melodic black metal solo project and if you are a fan of this musical genre, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Dark Dawn Arise" "The Black Fog Of Times".

Morth is a one-man Black Metal band from Bulgaria. This is his début album.

This album has plenty of occult melodies for the listener to enjoy. Sometimes these melodies can seem quite jaunty or folksy, which is a nice touch among the overall darkened vibes that Morth creates.

The long songs have an epic feel and there’s plenty of atmosphere to soak up here. The music is expansive and seems to revel in a certain primitive sophistication that some of the early Black Metal bands found themselves experimenting with. It’s the kind of music that makes me feel nostalgic and never fails to raise a grim smile.

Synths and keyboards are never too far from the action, wrapping the twisting melodies in their dark embrace.

Vocally we get trademark Black Metal croaking screams that fit the music perfectly. These vocals are absolutely of the classic style and go hand in hand with the classic atmospheric music.

This is well-constructed atmospheric Black Metal with a nice line in melodies and uplifting leads and synths.

Οι Morth μας έρχονται από τη γειτονική Βουλγαρία και το “Towards The Endless Path” είναι η παρθενική τους κυκλοφορία από την Acclaim Records σε συνεργασία με την Symbol Of  Domination Productions.

Bulgarian black metal master of atmosphere Morth, who have been active since 2002 but only record his first full length record last year, brings ‘Towards the Endless Path’ to the table, out now on Symbol of Domination.

Stretching over an hour, ‘Towards the Endless Path’ is a haunting, hypnotic record of ghostly black metal, built around the lessons of Drudkh or Wolves in the Throne Room. Morth is more raw than that, more primal, and there is a distinct icy coldness about tracks like ‘Cold Moonlight Mysticism’ and the harsh ‘Dark Dawn Rise’. Each songs builds the cloying, murky atmosphere, and the snarling growl gargles with the sodden blood of Morth’s victims.

‘Towards the Endless Path’ is a fine album, with plenty of variety in there to help hold your attention. ‘Echoes of Ancient Winds’ is a vast piece, with a simple yet ear worming melody in the middle that stays with you. Atmospheric black metal can be hit or miss with me sometimes, but Morth hit the spot. Maybe it’s my mood today, but this kind of spacious, haunting music is perfect. It just needs a little trimming length wise, but that’s a nitpick of mine with a lot of these style of records.

It’s a little long for such a simplistic, atmospheric black metal album, but those who stick it out to the end will be rewarded with a gloomy slab of primal black metal, replete with interesting bleak melodies hiding in amongst each crevice of blackness. Conjuring images of Carpathian forests decked in snow and darkness, Morth’s debut has been a long time coming, and yet it feels like a triumph.

Bulgarian epic atmospheric black one-man metal band realised the album. This album is dark melodic atmospheric black metal masterpiace.

On this album it can be heard this dark melodic music combined with atmospheric music, creating this this powerful melodic atmospheric sound that is unigue, special, dark and strange in some moments. Tehnical compliance is brought to ideal, acoustic is great, production is awesome.

The combination of melodic atmosepheric sound with true raw black metal sound, created a something very interesting, a melodic music that present’s the essence of black metal, melodic music that became raw with the combination with black metal. The vocal is raw pure black metal vocal and there are clean vocals that are amazing and awesome too, and the vocals are integrated phenomenally with the hole hole album, and the songs themeself’s. This album will take you to a place of darkness, evil, death, war, chaos, apocyplpse.

Morth is anonymos band that desirves a lot of attention of public and listeners. This musician is a awesome musician, that created, true melodic atmospheric black metal music masterpiace in the best way.

Rien n’a véritablement changé.

Morth is a one-man army formed in the Bulgarian city of Sandanski, in the far South-West of the country, close to the Greek and Macedonian borders. The project was born almost a decade and a half ago by Georgi ‘Erilyne’ Georgiev, but the guy moved over to North America in mean time. This guy is / was also involved with bands and projects such as Raggradahr, Exile, 88, Aryan Art (as permanent session musician) or Aeonless, amongst several others (note: on December 24th 2015 I uploaded a review I did for Aeonless’ fabulous Underearth Horizons album; a top-release for sure, and on January 24th 2015 we published Raggradahr’s Oris, both of them released via e.g. mighty Vacula).

Under the Morth banner, not that much happened in the past, despite the many years of existence. In Summer 2014 there was the demonstrational recording Ocean Underground, which was released via Georgi’s own label Acclaim Records (which did relocate to the U.S. too, evidently), and the very same label, in a partnership with Symbol Of Domination Productions, is now to release the debut full length album, called Toward The Endless Path. The album is limited to an edition of 500 copies, and it lasts for sixty-five (!) minutes (six titles). And before going deeper into the aural side of Toward The Endless Path, I’d like to refer to the magic and mysterious artwork – which actually shows a glimpse of the sonic content of the album!

The album brings a highly melodious and atmospheric form of Black Metal. The atmospheric elements are mainly brought through the soft synth lines, who play a role especially at the background. These keyboards are permanently present, yet never taking over the lead (with exception, evidently, for some intros, outros and intermezzi). That lead is courtesy of the multi-lined twin guitar melodies. Because of these prominent and firmly present guitar lines, everything gets a certain epic touch, referring to many other projects Erilyne is involved with. All this gets strengthened by a supportive rhythm section: melodic rhythm guitars (sometimes a not-that-discordant counterbalance to the main leads), a dense bass guitar (unfortunately too much at the background mix-wise), and non-adventurous yet nicely-following drum structures and patterns. And on top of it, I think the vocals are top-notch. Erilyne’s screams are of a thundering-rolling kind, raspy and hoarse, but truly bone-chilling.

The lengthy compositions never ‘explode’, and this goes for two things. Firstly I mean with ‘never explode’ that the tempo maintains mid-tempo for about the whole of the time. There is a certain level of energy going on, but that hasn’t to do with blasting eruptions. To be honest, I do miss some more variation in speed, especially seen the long duration of each piece on Toward The Endless Path. Secondly I am afraid that there are not exactly fabulous memorable excerpts on the album. In general, the whole journey slowly continues, without leaving the listener (in this case: me) blown away…

But… This might seem more negative than I exactly think. Despite a certain lack of suspense, this album surely stands out within this specific sub-genre. Atmospheric Black Metal often turns into a level of semi-pathetic melancholy. That’s not the case right here. Seen the length of the hymns, you never get the feeling that it lasts too long, you never fade away into inevitable boredom.

Once in a while I have the impression that Morth try to seek inspiration by Austrian duo Summoning. Many projects try to do so – some succeed, many fail. Morth does not exactly reach that level, but then again they do not sound like a Summoning-clone at all. It’s just a source of inspiration, to my opinion, created to inject the own-faced identity of the project. That’s the way it’s supposed to be, and in Morth’s case that’s a rather successful formula.

Morth play an agonizing yet symphonic style of black metal, which harkens back to the early days of Enslaved, Dimmu Borgir, Abyssos and Sear Bliss.

The six tracks on this album add up to 65 minutes worth of haunting and chilling black metal music, which at times comes across as a B-Rated horror flick soundtrack. Musically, this bunch is nothing out of ordinary, as their guitars feature the standard down tuned guitar rhythms and riffs played at mid-tempo. And the raspy vocals are nothing new either, as this was perfected by the likes of Enslaved and Dimmu Borgir in the mid-nineties.

“Towards The Endless Path” has an interesting, epic feel going within its somber guitar harmonies and depressive song arrangements… “Echoes Of Ancient Winds” sounds so eastern European with its orchestrated passages and victorious-sounding guitars and synthesizers. This song reminds of watching movies like Excalibur, Othello and Cinderella.

The six songs on this album are somewhat different from one another, but you can tell it is Morth playing their symphonic black metal, which is cool, but nothing that’ll move mountains.

However, this band should be given credit for at least trying, as black metal nowadays has become too populated with mediocre and bands pretending to be like the first generation of black metal masters.

I am not a great fantasy fan so I have no idea if this band’s name is a fictional character or if is it a mythical character but I gotta say that it does fit with both the art work and the album title. There is something otherworldly to this whole release that intrigues me. And I was right in assuming that this would be something more. This is atmospheric black metal. The kind that paints a picture so grand and beautiful that you have to listen to this with your eyes closed. This is for those of us that like bands like Svarthi Loghin, An Autumn For Crippled Children and the likes.

Beautiful and enchanting, that's what Morth's "Towards the Endless Path" can be described despite all the saying that atmospheric black metal is now underrated and trendy but who cares? This Bulgarian one man band struggled on his own from 2002 to complete the recordings and by completing this album, one year after the release of "Ocean Underground" demo in 2014. Eryline really knows what's best for the band and his musical direction is just as interesting as it gets.

"Towards the Endless Path" is a long and wonderful journey of pure atmospheric black metal, one of the best without doubt. One hour of tranceful musical composition, well arranged to spread it's beauty and dark side of concept of the entire album. The atmosphere of this album is superb and quite fascinating eventhough it's quite raw and unpolished but some bands need to stay that way just to make enough room for some positive comparison. Heavy and raw guitar playing as the melody lines of the composition "speaks" and memorable as well for those who love to sit back and immerse deep into the world beyond reality.Interesting keyboard and synth lines are all over this album which makes it more interesting and adds more power to the lyrics which dwells around death, soul and life in general. The drums are neatly programmed and fills in just right for each song to accompany Eryline's harsh and cold vocals portraying all sorts of emotions and together with the music, it's an easy connection between Morth and the listeners to share the same feeling through this album.

With such emotion spilled all over it, "Towards the Endless Path" is one of the examples of a good release and managed to find its direction independently into the black metal scene. As we know that creativity has no boundaries and Morth has it for now and for years to come. Come forth and be prepared to be drowned in the world that devours without us realizing it.
