This is a review of another recording from i Am esper which is also in the experimental, drone, post rock and dark ambient musical direction of the other recordings with the album being released in 2013 and called "Nox Obscurum" which was released as a joint effort between Satanath Records, Dead Dog Skull, and Heil Hell Productions.
A very distorted yet clean guitar starts off the album giving the music a post rock feeling bringing in repetitive riffing for a few seconds while also mixing in melodic guitar leads a few seconds later and just like with all of the other recordings that music is all instrumental and the guitars also bring in a lot of open riffs.
All of the tracks are very long and epic in length and you can also hear some distorted drones being added into certain sections of the recording and every song sounds different from each other while also keeping a very calm atmosphere and you can also hear a touch of metal in the distorted sections of the music.
with this recording i Am Esper focused more on an instrumental yet guitar driven mixture of dark ambient and post rock creating a very calm approach of the genre and bringing out a great amount of of emotion and the production sounds very raw and lo-fi.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from i Am esper and if you are a fan of instrumental post rock and dark ambient, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Nox Obscurum 2" and "Nox Obscurum 4".

“Nox Obscurum” è l’ultimo album rilasciato da I Am Esper tramite una dura lotta fra case discografiche che ha visto vincitrice la Satanath Records. L’album contiene sei tracce caratterizzate da uno stile fortemente post rock e prive di lyrics.
L’album inizia con un sound della chitarra distorto ma pulito che dà alla musica quel post rock di cui tutte le tracce sono caratterizzate, trasportandoti con un riff ripetitivo che dura alcuni secondi mentre anche il miscuglio dei suoni melodici della chitarra portano per alcuni secondi, nella maggior parte delle tracce, a riff aperti.
Tutte le tracce sono molto lunghe, considerate addirittura di “epica” lunghezza (infatti durano quasi tutte più di sette minuti), e si posso sentire in alcuni momenti dei suoni distorti dovuti alla non eccelsa strumentazione che vengono aggiunti al momento della registrazione e per ogni canzone differiscono sempre, inoltre è presente quel giusto tocco di metal che rende il sound più pulito e compatto nelle sezioni di musica più distorte.
In questo album I Am Esper si concentra sulla miscela di strumenti dove la chitarra fa da capo guida per il post rock creando un effetto di calma e riesce benissimo a far emergere una grande quantità di emozione producendo suoni a volte crudi e purtroppo di bassa qualità strumentale, dovuta probabilmente alla scarsa strumentazione usata durante la registrazione.
A mio parere l’album è piuttosto originale, una delle pecche è che le tracce sono veramente troppo lunghe e dopo un po’ annoiano e personalmente preferisco delle tracce con lyrics invece che solo strumentazione, resta comunque il fatto che le due tracce “Nox Obscurum 2” e “Nox Obscurum 4” le consiglio molto in quanto sono quelle che ritengo più “trasparenti” (fanno emergere più emozioni) tra tutte, inoltre questo album è assolutamente raccomandabile per chi è fan del post rock strumentale o comunque per chi ama di più la parte strumentale nella musica.
