Rotting Flesh are a a band from Greece that plays an atmospheric form of blackened death metal and this is a review of their 2014 album Infected Purity" which was re-issued in 2015 as a joint effort between Symbol Of Domination productions and Murdher Records.
Ritualistic sounding synths and thunder noises start off the album giving the music and epic feeling and after the intro and after the intro melodic guitar leads, heavy riffs and death metal growls are added into the music along with the faster sections utilizing a great amount of blast beats and the synths also mix in with the heavier parts.
Black metal screams can be heard in the music at times and the songs also bring in a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts along with the growls also getting guttural in some parts of the recording and some of the riffs also bring in a touch of thrash and some tracks also bring in ritualistic chants and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and when female vocals are utilized they give the music an operatic feeling while a alter track also brings in elements of electronic music.
Rotting Flesh plays a style of death metal that is very similar to Septic Flesh but adds in more of a black metal influence and faster riffs to make their music stand out a bit more, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics cover dark, violent and anti christian themes.
In my opinion Rotting Flesh are a very great sounding atmospheric mixture of black and death metal and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Terrorscope" "Withdraw Christianity" 'Life And Torment" and "Mental State".

Greek Blackened death metal band realised the album. This album is a combination of many influences, that are so well combined with each other, creating a unigue sond, also because of all of this, the album is a masterpiace.
These influences are the influence of melodic , symphonic, electronic , atmospheric, trash metal and gothic music combined with the influences of death metal and black metal, this album is extreme alternative metal,in my opinion.
All of this influenes are phenomenally integrated with each other and the hole album. Tehnical compliance is brought to ideal, acoustic is great and the production is awesome.
On the album it can be heard also a beautiful instrumental songs, that are so well integrated with the hole album, and they create a specific atmosphere on the album.
The female vocal is great, and the male vocal too. They are a perfect combination vocally on this album . This album will take you trought a jorney of sadness, depression, death, beauty, reality, destruction.
Rotting Flesh is anonymos band that desirves a lot of attention of public and listeners. This band is a ultimate metal band, with true masterpiace of music in every possible way, at the most highest point.

Infected Purity’ is the re-release by Rotting Flesh from Greece. This will be their third full album which combines a blend of melodic keyboards, harsh guitars and powerful vocals into a captivating and unique sound.
After the dark orchestral beginnings of ‘Alter Of Eclipse’, steeped in organ melody and heavy brass sections, comes ‘Terrorscope’. This is fast, riff-heavy, varied and a lot of fun. Ahhh death metal!
Title track ‘Infected Purity’ throws us right into an onslaught of riffs and growling accentuated by atmospheric keyboard passages before the chanting of ‘Withdraw Christianity’ takes hold in a slightly slower deformation. ’Sadness and Empathy’ returns to the faster and more upbeat. Black metal-inspired vocals and additional female vocals help to build this into a melodic, twisted hymn that quickly dies and descends into the chaotic ‘Life and Torment’. As the sombre violins creep in at the start of ’Shadowgloom’ this instrumental builds and decays with a sorrowful, distant piano until ‘Flickering Rituals’ takes the melodic a step further in its fast, if not slightly predictable composition. ‘Mental State’ is an unusual mix of pretty much everything with alternating blasting, vocals and riffs. Oh that is not what I expected… a trance intro. That was a fun interlude. It is not long before the heaviness is back and it ploughs through growling and riffs before ‘Skullgrinder’ crushes us and we quietly return to the album’s orchestral beginnings.
While this album is unique and a great listen their overuse of guitar melodies the synthed strings is slightly distracting. However, there is no space unused and it is so well put together that there is almost no faulting it. If you like your melodic death then this is not one to miss.

Greece’s Christ-raping death/black metal commandos in Rotting Flesh are sure to fucking blow your brains out with the rel-release of their debut CD “Infected Purity”.
The songs on this 12-track album are in the old school fashion of extreme metal, bringing to mind early Morbid Angel, Emperor and Dissection. The use of synthesizers on this album is subtle and do not take away from the songs as a whole, which is a plus. The energy of the music here is nothing short of brutal and chaotic with plenty of twist and turns to throw your head into a lethal tailspin. You can surely feel the winds of Armageddon race by you, with such precision and vulgarity; it just paralyzes all of your senses.
Wait ‘til you hear the caustic, flesh bruising rhythms and horrid vocal choruses found on “Life and Torment”, you’ll feel as if you’re trapped in Rotting Flesh’s ungodly nightmare of sonic punishment. The raspy yet growled-out vocals just blaze a hole through your soul, while the atmospherics of this song brain wash your mind with its auditory spells.
In addition, to the awesome songs found here, check out the haunting soundtrack-like sounds of “Shadowgloom”, as it makes you feel like you’re trapped in one of Harry Potter’s torturous chapters.
The picture of Satan on the album cover speaks volumes of the band’s stance on religious matters and dogma, and it only shows how much the band is against the brain washing teachings of Christianity and other western religious beliefs. Once you’ve listened to the anti-Christian leanings on “Withdraw Christianity”, you’ll be prepared for all out war against all that is holy and pure. This is why “Infected Purity” was a killer choice for their album title, as it makes total sense, with the anti-religious lyrics found here.
Check it out and see the world burn before your evil eyes.
Originally released in 2014, Infected Purity got the re-release treatment and was put out at the end of last year. Hearing the name Rotting Flesh, one would think that the band plays some incredibly brutalizing brutal death metal. While death metal is a part of the mix it is not the only genre that is thrown in as black metal makes an appearance as well adding a blasphemous touch. Rotting Flesh is unique in the way that they don’t just adhere to either a death metal or black metal stigma as they add their own unique touches all throughout.
After a brief intro, Rotting Flesh submerges you in their darkened atmosphere and pummels you with intense gut ripping metal. Transitioning between the intro and the first full song after just about snaps your spine in half. Terrorscope begins with discordant guitar tones then swiftly pile drives you directly into the bowels of hell. For twelve straight songs you are subjected to very melodic, raw, and very punishing metal, and after you begin listening there isn’t much you can do to escape the onslaught.
To go along with the terrorizing metal, Rotting Flesh is highly atmospheric as they incorporate the use of keys and softer female vocals throughout the release. The use of the keys gives the overall sound of the album a unique spin as they blend effortlessly with the chaotic and destructive blackened death metal. The injection of the female vocals works seamlessly alongside the grizzly growls and demonic screams of the lead vocalist as well as providing another element of atmosphere.
Not only does Rotting Flesh infuse their brand of blasphemous metal with atmosphere by using keys, they also employ the use of electronic music to add to the already unique and intriguing sounds. The most notable use of the electronic elements are in the song Abaddon as the beginning of the song begins more of like what you would hear at a dance club. Before the electronic bit kicks in there is a lead up from an unearthly growl from the vocalist, and as quickly as the electronic out break begins it ends and the heavy romping of Rotting Flesh takes over once more.
All throughout the release you get subjected to slicing riffs, massive bass lines, tight and technical drumming, barbaric vocals and plenty of atmosphere to last you quite a while. With all of the elements that Rotting Flesh uses at their disposal to create such a unique sound, never once does the music sound cluttered or over bearing. Everything is incredibly technical, on point and terrifyingly heavy. With all of the moving pieces within this album, everything works together so effortlessly. Even though this is a re-release, it wouldn’t be wise to pass on this.

"Sadness Of Empathy", der Titeltrack "Infected Purity" und "Life And Torment" wären hier zu nennen.

Well well, seems like Greek metallers of Rotting Flesh are still around… No flesh rotting yet out there…
This band was enormously active during the nineties, with an impressive number of demonstrational recordings. As from this century, the band’s activities were more quiet, but Rotting Flesh never left the bloodied fields of death and war. However, each time the band took some time before releasing another album (quite a contrast to their 20th century’s era!). After 2003’s Dreaming… The Underworld (Sleaszy Rider Records) and 2009’s 6 Enigma (which was independently released), 2014 finally saw the return of this Greek act by means of the third full length studio album, Infected Purity. The band self-released this album on September 10th 2014, and fifteen months later a coalition of Symbol Of Domination Productions and Murdher Records took care of a re-release. That’s what this review will be about…
The material was originally recorded in 2013 and 2014 at the Thessaloniki-based Red House Studio with producer Emmanouil Hermano (Starve The Hydra, Omega etc.). Infected Purity has a total running time of forty-two minutes and goes further than 6 Enigma.
After the symphonic-operatic introduction Altar Of Eclipse, Blackmass (guitars and lead vocals), Argh (bass guitars) and Mancer (drums), and quite some session musicians, bring a fast and melodic, rhythmic and energetic form of orchestral Black / Death Metal, including a huge dose of keyboards, an overload on tempo-changes, and so much more. The keyboards vary a lot in their presence. Sometimes they aren’t but giving some additional atmosphere at the background, then again they take over the lead, creating a full-bombastic orchestration, and once in a while they add something horrific-ominous, cosmic, emotional, well, you know: they are quite an important piece of the whole concept.
There is a lot of variety in each single song, as well as in between the different compositions. It’s not just the differentiation in tempo (well, about everything in between slow and fast passes the revue) or structure I am talking about. It has to do with changes in mood, in approach, in atmosphere too. More desolate and integer pieces interact with brutal eruptions of pure hatred, blasphemy goes hand in hand with mysticism, timeless tradition appears in a symbiosis with grooving modernism. Of course that implements some clichés as well: groovy catchiness, female vocals, even grotesque artwork and crafted lyrics. Besides, what to think about the electronics at the start of Abaddon, or the short, quasi-grinding eruption Skullgrinder?...
Production-wise Infected Purity is an example of highly professional studio work. Yes, personally I think the whole might sound somewhat over-produced, yet I dare not to pretend that the result is exaggerated clinical in sound, for that would be too rude. But seen the universal execution and timeless themes, such decent mix is not a bad thing at all.
I am pretty sure that an album like Infected Purity will please quite an extended public (grand-grandparents and nuns -at least most of them- not included). And then again: why not? I am personally rather ‘underground’-oriented, and not specifically looking for catchier stuff, but hey, Rotting Flesh has always been a crafted act. With this album they still prove to be experienced composers, professional musicians, and great performers whatsoever.
