Crossover time again, but this time it's not something for the weakhearted. This is the stuff that often shows up on the extreme underground facebook groups with the word 'noise' in their names. These groups are loaded with weird people who make weird music but seem to be quite nice and friendly people after all. Now I don't know if Strep Cunt is such a friendly person. His music doesn't sound very nice, that's for sure.

Strep Cunt is Cody Maillet. He lives in Boston, Massachusetts where he plays in several bands. He went solo in 1999 under a different name, The Abhorrer. In 2003 he changed the name to Cryostasium. Since then many albums, splits, e.p. and compilation tracks appeared, all showing 'varied dark heavy music', according to the biography. Judging from these two albums, he's quite right about that.

Cryostasium are a band from Boston, Massachusetts that plays a mixture of black metal and crust with a touch of noise/grind and this is a review of their 2014 album "Stalwart" which was released by Symbol Of Domination Productions.

A very fast, raw, distorted and noisy black metal sound starts off the album along with some blast beats and all of the musical instruments are very powerful sounding and the music is also very avant garde and experimental at times but always done with guitars while some of the faster riffs also bring in the raw energy of crust punk.

At times you can hear the aggression and raw energy of noise/grind in the music while vocals and songwriting are absent from the recording with all of the music being mostly instrumental except towards the end where angry shouts and screams can be heard and you can also hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts throughout the recording and at times the riffs also bring in a small amount of melody while the main focus remains more on a raw, crusty, and noisy style of black metal.

Cryostasium plays a musical style that takes a very raw form of black metal and mixes it in with crust, noise, grind and d beat to create a style of their own and the production also has a very powerful sound to it.

In my opinion Cryostasium are a very great sounding mixture of raw black metal, crust, noise/grind and d beat and if you are a fan of those musical genres, you should check out this band. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Salve" "Eclipse" "Gone" and "Inept".

Con solo un mes de diferencia entre ambos, Cryostasium (proyecto unipersonal de un tal Cody Maillet) lanza dos discos, “Stalwart” y el homónimo.

Debo decir ante todo que no recuerdo que me haya tocado reseñar trabajos tan difíciles como estos. Yo me atrevo a escribir sobre cualquier estilo, pero en este caso, y nobleza obliga, Cryostasium supera mi capacidad.

Es que esta es música extraña para gente extraña. A ver, intentemos. Noise black metal, guitarras saturadas, gritos distorsionados, batería programada, lo-fi por todos lados, crust, industrial y todo lo raro que se puedan imaginar.

De verdad quisiera decir más sobre estos dos álbumes pero no, me rindo. No conozco, no me gusta, no me interesa.
